Archangelsky
I have read that the driving is supposed to be a bit better in this game as compared to the other in the GTA series. Anyone have any specific statements or heard anything about that ? I for one would welcome a more realistic feeling as opposed to the arcady one of the previous titles. S1L3NT SH0T 419
I heard somewhere that if you hit something like a light pole going pretty fast, you will actually be propelled through the windshield and onto the hard pavement.

They said it's much more realistic. Much heavier, in the sense of driving a real car. They also said that sh*tty, rusted up cars have trouble steering and whatnot. R3VOLUTiON16
IGN hands on stated that the driving is a lot better, as for suspenion, and if your swerving around, you could flip, and yes what you said is true.
JtotheROC
Theyre using a different engine, and all the physics have been redone. hands-on previews have said the handling was much tighter and different between cars, read some of teh previews for a more detailed description. Salocin
I read on IGN thhat they said the driving IV's cars would be like having to learn how to drive all over again. They said that the driving mechanism is totally different from the previous games. I am pretty sure that's a good thing. If the cars live up to my expectations, I'll be pulling a lot of "Death Proof" stunts on hookers.

RyanEr4th
Euphoria not endorphin. And its not ragdoll...its euphoria, totally different. MMMMMMMMmmmmmm Euphoria instead endorphin....!! "With euphoria, animations are not canned but are generated on-the-fly by the CPU as the game is played. Every tackle is your tackle, every haymaker is your haymaker. " -from http://www.naturalmotion.com/euphoria.htm So no 2 movements are ever the same!! sick!! So when u run with niko it uses Euphoria?? Oh yea and your right its not ragdoll... ragdoll is only for animating deaths.. ( Limp bodies ) Looks like Euphoria works like if u push somebody over they will put their hands up and tumble around.. So no 2 animations are the same there either... Edited April 2, 2008 by RyanEr4th
wafflemaster
I am a little bit apprehensive about the new driving physics. Of course I want things to progress and improve in the GTA universe, but also don't want things to get too complicated either. I like a certain amount of "Arcade" in my driving experience, and would get annoyed if it took days to master a new system (on top of a 1000 other disciplines I have to get to grips with). A certain amount of point-and-squirt is essential in a game of this magnitude, and I am reluctant to get bogged down in niggling details when there is so much to do and explore.. Archangelsky
Thanks for the replies so far, its good that it seems to be a bit different this time around. I would welcome it to be as realistic as possible though. I wonder if there are different options on traffic density and so forth speaking of driving. I guess there might be less during night at least

Yankey184
They Have A Physics Engine Called Euphoria And What That Is Itsz Realistic Movements Of Humans...like in the game if you shoot an AI on the hand he would be hold his hand and try to kill u with his pistol or w.e,if you shoot it on the head its not gonna pop like previous gta's hes gonna fall back but it depends wut type of presure the gun has to make him fall bak really hard,if you shoot on the leg he will probably dro and starts to crawl to a cover...which right there thatsz really realistic dont you guys think? Red_xi
One thing that I want to know is this. If they are taking this game a few steps up the realism level then how will driving pan out with the cops ? One thing I always remember in GTA games is that cops wont give a care in the world for your destructive eratic driving skills. Whats going to happen now ? will it be the same, or will it be a case of drive on the wrong side of the road, run red lights and the cops will flag you down ???? I no longer wish to be running around, looking for a car to steal, and be forced to choose between a Clover and a Stallion

I think it might be counter-productive to give the police AI license to get pernickety about traffic violations. Most gamers would be pulled-over within seconds of loading the game I do hope the cops are a little bit better at pursuit this time though, rather than relying on endless squad cars that come out of no-where !! I totally agree with you. And come to admit it, there were times in gts SA where I would follow the suit of the other road vehicles and just drive around normally enjoying the views (sad as it maybe lol) But I always remember thinking it would be sooo much better if the cops took note on this and gave chace if I was being a bad boy. Remember the first driver game on psx ?

I agree, but one major factor of the gta games to me was the face off against the police. I think it would be a nice touch to add this realism to the game. Of corse this realism wouldnt be worth sh*t if the AI of the cops was as tacky as the last games as you mentioned.
Archangelsky
I disagree that it would be counter-productive. I would love a mission where you get to point A do your job but have to get back safe, you could execute your mission perfectly but screw up and get killed in a carchase, fire exchange with the police. It would be a huge positive addition to the game in my opinion. I admit I draw the relevance of my point to "Mafia" where it was just as I described above. Personally I feel it sets the game back to have this gorgeous huge city to drive around in, alive and breathing almost if we are to believe the previews only to have it be almost anarchistic in relation to the driving, which there is alot of in the game I assume. I think it would bring the game to another level, in particular when they are going for more realism this time. Though I would welcome it as an option in order for others to opt out for level of police interaction that I understand, but it would still be a drawback in the game for the very simple reason it has already been included very successfully over 5 years ago in "Mafia". I really doubt that will happen though :S It should stay the way it is in the other GTAs
