Ruler wall

Recommended Posts

Suction Testicle Man

From the readme:

This package contains a ruler 'wall' in San Andreas DFF format, textured with a 2046x2046 png image. The model is an accurate representation of 1000 metric centimetres (cm) within GTA3, Vice City and San Andreas that can be imported into San Andreas to act as an in-game ruler, or more efficiently imported into your 3D modelling suite using a DFF importer. The motive behind its creation is to provide a ruler for modelers to check a vehicle or other in-game model against (assuming the modeler can find out the metric dimensions of whatever it is their model replicates) to allow them to scale their model accordingly. This should therefore prevent too many more badly-scaled mods being released for the GTA series.

Please spread this around to as many car modelers you know, especially those that use zmodeler - and help to lessen the amount of badly-scaled mods that are released.

huh. how about that. this seems almost obvious, but i cannot recall seeing a mod like this before. good work.

btw, you might consider scaling it vertically (bring the numbers down), or color coding significant lines for easier readability. just a thought.

I was considering that, but I decided that I'd leave it as it is for anyone wanting to measure up a larger vehicle. If they're only going to measure up cars, they can edit the IPL line to sink it through the floor accordingly.

Mind if I add a link to this topic to my sig?

Edit : I agree with dex that it could be better by using different colors or dotted lines for the less important ones.

Like the grid I used when I was working on the textures of one of the cars from the road warrior mod.

Excellent, it's hard to size up the car to ingame so this really helps turn.gif

Edit

Darn it's ZMod2 dff, I cannot import it to Max O_o

Would've been easier to import it directly to Max, also would've spared some time oh well. smile.gif

i've a suggestion to improve the ruler, that is, make another wall at 0 so that we dont need to check weather we placed the car's starting point at 0, just a wall collision will stop at 0

here is a screenshot that will explain clearly where Red Line is wall, whom i want place

You can convert the dff, txd and col to GTA3 format and import it in that way - though you will need to use new IDE and IPL lines. I might add 3 & VC versions later. Though here is the SA Claude character (notice he hovers a little, so is pretty much 6ft tall just like CJ):

Genius.

I wish I thought of this when modding. My main method was just importing a real SA car (which I did for grabbing a collision set up anyways) into Zmod and scaling off of that cars shell. This way just makes sense tounge.gif

I would suggest doing a grid with the vertical height as well, or make an L as suggested above, with one wall showing height measurements.

Awesome idea! icon14.gificon14.gif
