Hi I just wanted to know if it is true that Niko can now choose any weapon to use in a vechile? Like we know he can toss grenades and Molotov Cocktail out of car windows (finally), maybe you can drive past and hit others with a baseball bat or a chainsaw which would be very messy hey the game is not completely realistic after all devil.gif

. . . you can't drive and use a chainsaw or baseball bat. Did you think about the actual physical activity and movement it requires to use a two handed weapon before posting? You wouldn't be able to steer. You can use any one handed weapon.

I get you, we can only use firearms or explosives but not melee type of weaponry, a chainsaw was a bit daft to suggest but I thought a baseball bat may work though.

I wouldn't mind being able to pull up next to someone and have the passenger in the car lean out and crack them in the skull with a baseball bat however. That could be fun. I wonder, will GTA IV be like Saint's Row? Where your allies will attack anyone you attack. So you could just shoot at someone and have your passenger start blasting at them.

Yeah I know what you mean. I think it would be good if we have more freedom is this respect. For example say Niko gets a taxi ride but doesn't want to pay for the fare he could shoot the driver in the front seat and steal the cab. Something like that.

Driving along with a powered up chainsaw hanging out the window would be quality. Baseball bat too. You could play mail box baseball!

. . . it would look cool, until you hit something. Going just 10 mph and holding a chainsaw with one hand and hanging it out the window would be ineffective. Chainsaws are not very fast cutters. It would simply scratch what ever it hit and then you wouldn't be able to hold it steady.

I know this is going to be a more life like GTA but it's not going to be enough to prevent it from taking some liberties when it comes to realism. I think it's a really good idea from the topic starter.

You think they are taking enough leeway to change the actual physics of a weapon? I don't think so.

Why would you want to drive and hit someone with a bat anyways? You are driving a car... that can hit people... at fast speeds... and make them fly. Nuff said.

Why not? The physics of weapons are changed in almost all mainstream games and films. For example, there isn't a single material in the world that if your average bullet hit it would cause a spark. Another thing is bullets (especially from shotguns) blowing gigantic holes in things. And things like hand-held miniguns of the size depicted in a lot of games and films a wholly unrealistic. As much as I'd like to see it in the game, I don't think it will be. But in short your feeling on Rockstar are wrong SantiagoDomingo.

Incoming skullcrack at 120MPH.

Priceless.

I have personally blown pretty big holes in things with a shotgun. Put a 6 inch whole in a metal road sign (was no longer in use, picked it up from the junk yard) with only a 14 gauge shotgun. Put about an 8 inch hole in the side of a computer with the same shotgun.

As for bullet sparks, that is just dramatic effect they use for movies and games like you said. But most games aren't striving for the most realistic gaming experience like R* is. It is simply impossible to decapitate someone with a chainsaw in one hand while driving down the road. Like a stated before, a chainsaw can't slice through anything. You couldn't even hold a samurai sword out the window of a car and drive-by-decapitate someone. Chainsaws are good for slowly (slowly in terms of not a straight through slice) cutting through a tree.

I just don't see how you could imagine driving and cutting someone's head off with a chainsaw. Maybe a passenger could do the cutting if you drove by at 3 mph.

You're the one who started talking about decapitation, not me. Once again to the topic starter, good idea icon14.gif

I think it'll be hand guns, sub machine guns, maybe shotguns (sawn off), molotovs and grenades (obviously confirmed you can drop them out of the window), but I doubt anything bigger than that or melee weapons.

Using a chainsaw in general out the window is pretty much the same.
