Jordan
Check out the following new details of slow motion driving from a MTV blog that Stephen Totilo just let me know he put up minutes ago: http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/03/13/...low-mo-driving/ http://planetgrandtheftauto.gamespy.com/fu...y.php?id=149090 Edited March 13, 2008 by Jordan
special someone
Thats sounds cool, but not the usual GTA style. I can imagine it would be good to use when trying to escape the cops and driving through a busy street. Days of the week is another nice feature. Obviously been added to incorporate the new style of meetings and such forth. The hype is growing.

Darkgamr
neat, although using the analog stick while pushing it in may be a tad awkward

AZAZEL
Good read. Although I'm sure that the game having actual weekdays has been mentioned before. San Andreas had that, too. Not using that fact as a way of proving that it is in IV, but it seems logical. The Rockstar rep suggested that I hold down the B button on my 360 controller. [...]It was a little awkward to steer with the left stick while keeping it clicked in, but it seemed manageable. That seems very, very fiddly. Holding down the B button and the left Analog Stick, while using the two triggers, all at the same time? Might work - it's not like you'll be using this all the time, probably just for very short periods of time. Time will tell, but I might pass on this opportunity to spare my hands of cramps. weirdal
Cinematic sounds a bit gimmickey. I suspect it will be like the cinematic in GTA3, Vice, (and SA?) in that you never use it past the first time you try it. It won't help in chases because it just switches you to a random camera angle and throws you off. Going off jumps will be cool though, I'll give them that. Bauer
Sounds like a clear rip-off of Driv3r's (and Driver: parallel lines...) tacky cinematic camera button. Why would Rockstar think this is a good idea? Granted, I have not played the game and therefore cannot judge, but I get the feeling that I won't use it much. Maybe the slo-mo is really slow, giving you time to make pinpoint maneuvers under conditions that would be more difficult without it. I do want something clarified, though (maybe I read over it, but I don't see anything). Can you use slo-mo without using the cinematic camera? I can't see myself using the cimematic camera, but slo-mo would be sweet by itself while driving.

Carmods
wow...if only it was on foot too...would make for some good movie moments...but i hope they still have the slow mo cheat...
uzi 9mm
I think its a good feature. When you're flying through traffic and you don't wanna smash up your new ride just hold the left analogue stick while still controlling and you'll weave through all the tight gaps easier, then it would look wicked on the replay, which R* have already confirmed you'll be able to do. WarburtonsMediumSlice
didnt they have this feature in True crime streets of LA?
Magic_Al
It's always been really hard to drive straight in GTA cinematic views. Why can't we have cinematic view on foot? It would be more fun to play with the camera when you're not fighting traffic.
GTA_Godfather
It seems like there will be very little difference between past cinematic views and this one. I doubt I will use it, except on the rare occasion I need to do a precise car maneuver. Even then it will probably be annoying if the slow-mo effect is only in the cinematic view. If they just wanted to incorporate a slow-mo view, couldn't they have made available in all views or in at least one 'normal' view? And as far as cinematic views go, it's really only nice as a replay feature. But from what I understand, there will be no such feature with either console. Seems kinda dopey. I guess I don't have a problem with them adding it, because obviously you can choose NOT to use it. BUT....I hope they didn't spend to much time on it. Time spent perfecting this questionable (in value) feature is time NOT spent working on textures, animations, storyline, etc.

No, that would be a bad idea. They obviously don't want to encourage you to use it as useful feature to help you make precise movements. It's just something cool they threw in so you can watch euphoria ragdolls in slow-mo.
PersiaHassasin
It would be awsome to use this while doing a drive by getting headshots in slo mo from your seat. AWSOMES!!!
TheDude5000
Slow-mo sounds good, sorta like in Driver: Parallel Lines. And obviously days of the week are staying from SA, cool. Though I wouldn't mind actually going to sports games, maybe even playing in them...

Frander
I think that slowmotion driving thing will be a cheat. Disabling the horn.

TenEightyOne
The review said B button to enable slo-mo, not the horn. Anyway, several games change your character movement while holding the thumbstick in, it just takes a little practice. I think that GTA IV is going to take more practice than most games - and that's going to be half the fun I just hope the replays are going to be better - I'd rather play with the cinematic camera on a replay than while i drive. Mavros
I personally think this sounds awesome. Remember, driving in slo-mo is an advantage and I dont think R* wants everyone to be driving in slo-mo all the time or for it to be overused. This is why I think they're making you hold in the left analog stick. I'm sure we've all been there when we drive too fast and either miss a turn or hit a wall or something. Now that we know Niko will be ejected through the front windshield from a hard collision just imagine using slo-mo to get through a tight situation or making 100mph feel like 30. That sounds awesome to me. Or how while chasing someone, you click in the analog stick as you power slide through a turn, whip out your pistol and get a head shot as you're coming out of the turn. All thanks to this feature. Think of the possibilities with this feature.
Spyran
i think its pretty gay how you have to hold the left stick and steer with it i'd much rather click it to go slo -mo and click it again to make it go back to normal...not hold it while steering
visionist
Perhaps this is the slow motion mode? Availible on foot?
