shred_guitar
720. For Xbox 360, 480i......Lol, just kidding. I have both consoles so I'm not a fanboy. I think I'll go start a brand new topic on which system I should get the game for....also just joking. Supposedly God of War 3 is going to be in full 1080p...so that is something to look forward to. sk8tr guy
first of all, im not much of a smart guy when it comes to HD settings n all that jazz so dont flame me. Im an xbox360 owner n my freind says 1080 looks the best. wuts the difference between 1080p and all the other ones? And does 1080p really look the best? or does that depend on wut game yer playing? I ussualy play games like halo3 n call of duty four, n of course GTA4 wen it comes out. If a game says it runs on a certain cetting like 720p or somthing on the back of the box wut exactly does that mean? Thanx

Here i will show you how big resolution there is available to PC. Resolutions The image was to wide for this forum. PC wide screens is mostly 16:10, HDTVs are 16:9 Edited March 14, 2008 by SynTerro

Thanx 1080p is the best picture available at this point in time, but you need an HD tv and the proper cables to take advantage of it. 720p for a game is pretty standard at this point and it looks GREAT, people are just complaining over nothing. Uncharted is "only" in 720 and it is absolutely jaw dropping. The graphics rely just as heavily on the design aspect as the numbers to make them truely next gen. So stop worrying if it's going to be 1080p or not and start looking at how they took advantage of the potential they had within the restraints of all that the game offers. 720 is going to look amazing, especially compared to the standard def. of previous consoles. Grand Theft Auto Dude
Damn.. Were you hoping for 1080p?? No such game exists. There arent even games running at 1080i yet, so forget the p guy. Sorry to burst yuor bubble. For some reason MS thinks that 720p is HD, but it aint. Thats DVD quality, NOT HD quality. False advertising if you ask me when they say HD!HD!HD!, just to get you to buy the game. bastards. Theres a bunch of games that run on 1080p O.o Thats what they tell you. Those game arent true 1080p. You guys are idiots if you think there are games running at 1080p, sorry. Keep believing what they tell you! And how are they not "True HD"? And yes GTA IV will run at 1080p, with 30fps confirmed. For the loser (coons2k4) and others who are gonna comment me back its an upscaled 1080p from 720p. But yes its 1080p. GT 5 Prologue runs at 1080p 60FPS. Running linux on the PS3 and extracted screen caps actually proves the game is running at 1080p, then again you probably don't own a copy of GT 5 Prologue never mind a PS3. And yes games run at 1080p such as GT 5. Edited March 14, 2008 by Jonny04

Your a complete tool, Virtua Tennis 3 runs at native 1080p, it was the first game to do so! There are only one or 2 others on the 360. Whoever said 720p is DVD is an idiot! How can we have had storage capable of storing HD about 5 year's before we even had HDTV's! GTA 4 as stated alot, will be native 720p! No idea what the hype is around 1080p, to get the benefit of 1080p over 720p you would have to sit alot closer to your tv, or in turn have a extremely big tv! NewImproved
It will definately run at about 720p im almost certain of that, Unless you have the right adapters and the right ACI i wouldnt know but thats what you would need but i doubt in this game with quite poor graphics

benny profane
just to clarify, there only one TRUE HD, everything else is known as "false hd", "half hd" or "half-assed hd". true HD looks and sounds like this: Mysteries Remain The mysteries remain, I keep the same cycle of seed-time and of sun and rain; Demeter in the grass, I multiply, renew and bless Bacchus in the vine; I hold the law, I keep the mysteries true, the first of these to name the living, dead; I am the wine and bread. I keep the law, I hold the mysteries true, I am the vine, the branches, you, and you. For FULL HD, go here

LongDarkBlues
Sorry guys, but just because the box says it plays on a 1080p TV doesn't mean the game is 1080p - almost all your games are native 720p resolution. DVD movies, by the way, are 480p. Also, 1080i is terrible - it looks much worse than 720p. I've also heard that it's particularly bad for games - lots of ghosting because of it's slow refresh rate. rasomaso
Btw for those of you who think that today PC monitors have some big resolution, Japanese are developing UHDTV (Ultra High Definition Television) and it should be out in 2015, featuring 7680x4320 pixels. Just a curiosity.
Darrel
There is nothing wrong with 720p. If you have for example a 30" TV and it was running at 1080p there wouldn't be much different in the exact same TV running at 720p.

Oh the humanity, this type of post needs to die. I suppose I'm not helping with the bumpage. Anyway, like a few posters above me pointed out, you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DETECT changes from 720p to 1080p by the naked eye for the most part. Now, of course there are videophiles who will be able to detect the differences, but it really is a very moot point considering 720p and 1080i look gorgeous still and it won't make a difference. It IS a marketing ploy and "full HD" is very very very much all marketing. There are many other components that make a much bigger difference when considering an HDTV (contrast ratio for plasma, etc.). This is a much more important stat to look for when considering an HD tv as compared to choosing between a "full HDTV" and one that only goes up to 1080i. But, alas, many will disagree with me because they are a product of the marketing machine and fail to do their own research. *Sigh*. After all, look at the name brand of medications that are over the counter - the generic have the exact same active ingredient (ibuprofen as an example in Advil). Yet, the general public being a herd and slave to marketing machines will think "hmm, I need ibuprofen for pain relief so I will get Advil because it's the best" and end up paying almost double in some cases....pity This game will look amazing on 720p. Wouldn't notice a difference if it were on 1080p native. But as long as you guys believe yourself and it makes you feel better, more power to you.
