Jonny04
One thing I notice as I play SA right now is that 18 wheelers are a real bitch to drive. They simply do not turn- for GTAIV we need the damned things to turn as this can't be right, even buses can be a little hard to turn. I mean firstly the traffic does not sit back from the lights to allow 18 wheelers to turn just like in real life- the stop line is painted about 5m back from the turning point of the road in real life(IV should do this too) This needs to be implemented into IV as I would enjoy driving them around more if it was more possible to drive. Another thing is god dammit R* make them turn, they just don't have a tight turning circle- in real life they can do some things you'd never expect for such a long vehicle. SA does not mirror what 18 wheelers can actually do which is a real shame Also I'd like NPC to be driving cabs with attached trailers- that would rock Edited March 13, 2008 by Jonny04
mightyox
Fair enough comments about the realism I suppose but this isn't MS 18 wheelersim and I rather hope they concentrated their efforts elsewhere, personally I couldn't give a toss if there where 18 wheelers or not. Yes I agree but it should be perhaps implemented- it would the driving of all cars and trucks better imo. As for the stop lines well thats easy to do too as all the roads will be generic I'd imagine. stevie-ray
Have there been any screenshots with trailers that don't look like they're just a part of the city?
Jonny04
Steve: Yes there has been recently. However there is another thing said that's a fact- if you see any vehicle it is drivable so in other words they're not creating trailers that are if you liked burned into the environment- any vehicle like object is drivable its a good step forward as I hated the big industrial areas of the past with tons of environment trailers- not ones actually useable. And to the screen, I believe I first posted this up weeks ago, but it don't really matter for those who are interested http://media.gtanet.com/images/4097_gta4_screenshot.jpg (changed due to streching) Look just a little above and to the right of Niko, the trailer is sitting in the middle of a dock land yard. It is very clear to me comparing it to as burned in SA trailer that this is a useable trailer aswell- confirming the idea of every vehicle you see is able to be used. 1066ant
Will there even be 18 wheelers in IV? You don't often see massive trucks driving through downtown New York.
Jonny04
Will there even be 18 wheelers in IV? You don't often see massive trucks driving through downtown New York. We've seen them in screens, and that screen I posted shows a trailer for the cab. So you probably ain't gonna see them in Algonquin, but expect the other four areas to have them. One place I think they will be is the freeway. Algonquin for me I think will be like Rumpo, Yankee, and all the other vans/trucks.
