Apparently some of us break the 'mold' of gamers and actually like to socialize with other people while we play video games. Why was Halo so fun? Because I could have 15 friends come over and we could set up four XBox and all get wasted and play video games. We could scream back and forth at each other, we could make fun of each other. Now I think that XBox live is sort of a step in the wrong direction. It just makes it less and less social. Pushing us back to sitting in our basements alone and playing with someone we can't see or sometimes even talk to. Now you have to worry about some asshole who just wants to ruin the game for other people and cheat or glitch. Before, that wasn't a problem, if one of your friends was doing that, he was sitting in the same house as you and everyone could make sure he stopped. Halo 2 at least incorporated split screen online play so that when you did have a friend or three over you could play against some (sometimes) competant opponents. But then you get games like Call of Duty 4, only one person at a time. You have to sit there and watch your friend play. Its still fun, but not as fun as the good ole lan party days. What makes me even more angrier is when a game doesn't have a co-op feature. Why shouldn't it? It doesn't need to fit into the story. So what if there is one main character? Why can't you play co-op and have your friend just jump in as a civilian? He can just follow you around and buy guns and all that jazz. You go on a mission, your friend can ride in your car, if the car is full he can follow along in his own. Every game should have multiplayer. Video games should be a more social thing. Especially with how much more recognition video games are getting in everyday life. It is a more accepted thing, you see it more often. Why shouldn't video games be like TV, you can all just sit around and play at the same time. . . . that is my 2 cents. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think if R* are successful with making a decent multiplayer, the online gaming for ALL of the future GTA games to come will go f*cking mental!! YAAAY!!! The game modes sound good also. i like the sound of cops and crooks and the territory wars, just imagine, you and 7 mates take on 8 other people!!!!! hitterhunter Posted March 24, 2008 Author Share Posted March 24, 2008 i dunno how rockstar will be able to revolutionise multiplayer, it's alot to ask of them. people expect rockstar to move mountains cus they created the sandbox genre pretty much single handedly. multiplayer on most games is crap to me. i used to like it when i first got the internet, because i thought wow... there's real people there. but now it's just swarmed with kids and retards. it'll be hard for me to enjoy it, unless all my buddies have the same game. and we can make our own little game and lock it. but even at that.... multiplayer has lost it's appeal. i miss the sega days where multiplayer was 2 gamepads plugged into the console Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
