Instead of TT putting all of their effort into marketing/manufacturing the game wouldn't they have to focus more on this takeover and where to go from there? Grand Theft Auto IV is expected make about half of what Ea is offering buy Take Two in the first year of sales.(A little over a billion dollars in sales.) In the middle of cutscenes Niko would turn around and say "have you tried the new blah blah blah by EA, it's in the game". Instead the gaming company is telling investors to hang tough. On Thursday, Take-Two Interactive's management advised its stockholders to take no action regarding Electronic Arts hostile bid. The New York-based company says it will review the company's bid and share their thoughts in ten business days. The recent offer is the same $26 dollar per share deal proposed in February. Take-Two had said it wanted to wait to talk to Electronic Arts until April 30 when it releases the fourth incarnation of its super-violent and super-popular video game series Grand Theft Auto. GTA, a gritty mission-based crime game, is considered one of the most successful video games of all-time, having sold more than 65 million copies worldwide and expected to bring in more than $1.4 billion in revenues in fiscal 2008. Take-Two is still dealing with subpoenas from the Manhattan District Attorney's office related to hidden sex scenes in earlier versions of the game. Take Two sells/gives back the GTA franchise to R* at a negligible price... and in return R* signs a new contract that stipulates that they will work for take two for X amount of years. And in the fine print you'll find that R* is free to leave the contract if Take Two should ever lose it's indpendence/is taken over. It'd be a good deal for Strauss Zelnick and the board at Take Two... because if they get taken over by EA they will likely be looking for new jobs. In short T2 gets the benefit of the GTA franchise while not (officially) having the rights to it, while Rockstar gets their cash cow franchise back and they get the guarantee that their freedom will not be imposed upon, and it gets EA off the backs of T2 and Rockstar, because this deal would nullify their intent to acquire the GTA franchise and R* talent.
