pernunz
I find it unbelievable the price difference between not only GTA, but all games from one country to another. Particularly from the USA to Australia. GTA4 Special Edition can be pre-ordered from Amazon, for $89.99 US This equates to $95.85 Australian In Australia, it costs $149.95 Australian to pre-order the Special Edition This equates to $140.76 US WHY must Australian pay so much more for games? This is over $50 US difference. Shipping can't be that much surely, its beyond a joke.

MCFC
It's reasonable obvious why. 1) Australia is a remote island, EVERYTHING made outside of the country (majority of goods) must be put on a ship. 2) Australia has a reasonably small population. This means less people can buy the game.. and the retailers can't buy in bulk the same way that other nations like the US do. Bigger bulk = bigger discount. 3) Australian dollar is slightly weaker then most other currencies, and it APPEARS to be much more expensive but when you work it out the difference isn't dramatically bad. $tr4nger
It will be around 70-75e ($116) here. And thats for the normal edition... God knows how much the special edition would have ended up costing me if I pre-ordered it... I'm guessing close or over 100e (thats $155!)... I really don't think any country has it as bad as Ireland tbh....

It was 620e from the cheapest store around. That's just over 1'000AUSD and $965 US. It's ridiculous. And when you try to import games/consoles over here (for a a cheaper price) you get hit with import tax... Really heavy import tax!
pernunz
You can't use shipping as an excuse. When the Australian dollar was weak against the US dollar, prices were comparably the same. But now the Australian dollar buys nearly twice as much of the US dollar (though market forces (such as higher interest rates etc.), not fixed exchange rate), and we are still paying the same amount. I have just been informed that a leading retailer here in Australia's COST price is $130 Australian for the special edition, still about $125US, over $40US of what retailers are SELLing at in the US.
