Patient0
Would you guys think it too much, if R* decided to remake Vice? Personally I would be really interested to play that game, I felt that Vice City had alot of potential to be played out in future installments, unlike San Andreas. I'm not sure how the story would go or what time period it could take place in, but I think Rockstar could pull through on yet another amazing game. If GTA4 goes well, which I'm sure it will. Will prove that the fans are willing to accept remakes and new renditions of places we have all come to love.
Ray Carter
I wanna see GTA V as a Direct Sequel to GTA IV, Like Niko going to Vice City after a few years in Liberty City. The change of characters and going back in time was something i didn't like about GTA.. I would have prefered the more features in a GTA Game was due to it being set futher in the future. MAGHALBU
@Elanman is right, VICE CITY is good in 80s. Would like to see VC absolutelly changed, but with Tommy as the usual main character. Would know how to swim, enters different buildings. Not only those which possible. Would be good to enter all buildings in VC. Make a real sex with prostitutes like in SA. Not sitting and just see how the car is moving. And would be pretty to see Tommy opens his mouth, and blinking eyes. What u think about these all? MAGHALBU
Why man? Is it pleasure to see how the car moves without any movements inside by the people? R* gave all the good things to CJ. Who the hell is he to be so mighty? Tommy must be mighty. Not that dumb ass.
Riding shotgun
I don't think VC absolutely HAS to be in the 80's. Yes, it would take the Scarface,Miami Vice vibe from it, but it would still kick ass in the 70's.
Mafiozo
vice should always be in the 80's. 70's could be cool, but not in vice... maybe San-Fierro or something (and this time only San-fierro, not "san andreas"). The change of characters and going back in time was something i didn't like about GTA.. I would have prefered the more features in a GTA Game was due to it being set futher in the future. That sucks. I don't like Nico from what I saw from him in the trailers. I think it will be possible that GTA V will be in Vice City, because first u had GTA III (Liberty City) then GTA Vice City amd there after GTA San Andreas and now GTA IV (Liberty City) so if they do it that way u will have Vice City again. If they do it i think VC will be a look a like of Miami like IV with New York. I hope it plays in the nineties, so u can an old Tommy who is the big guy in town. And with an new head character. QwertyAAA
I would want an IV-canon Vice. One that would be as good as the III-canon Vice. Just as... perfect. But with no characters returning. And either in 2001-2003, or in the 70's. What I would really love is a city based off Chicago in the '50s. Maybe the '30s, but that's what Mafia: TCoLH is for... tmac9wr
First and foremost, I think it is an absolute MUST for GTA to return to Vice City for the next game. However if it does return to VC, then it has to take place in the 80s...maybe the late 70s (like 1979 or so). I think it would be cool to have your character be a hispanic immigrant, considering they were/are such a dominant part of the culture in that city. Having your player be an immigrant with nothing to begin with would take on a familiar role, since Niko is doing that in IV. However, the fact that Miami/VC was making a transformation from a quiet little vacation spot to the world capital of drug smuggling and murder would definitely give the storyline a whole new vibe since the city itself would be undergoing a dramatic transformation along with the main character. As the game progresses, you would be able to notice new developments in the city. As an example, there would be a decent amount of open space in Vice City at the beginning of the game...but the story progressed and as more and more people came into the area, and as the drug money piled up, more and more condo developments would begin to be built. Also, as the city begins to grow and more competition comes into the drug industry, you have to do what it takes to continue to dominate the drug game while avoiding being muscled out or killed by your new competition. The major infusion of hispanic immigrants into the area was the main reason for the changes of the area. There was the Mariel Boatlift which brought in some 125,000 Cubans, most of which were criminals or delinquints of some kind, to the South Florida area. Along with this, many Colombians entered the country and were heavily involved with the cocaine trade, which I'm sure all of you know. Having characters based off of people found in the documentary "Cocaine Cowboys" would be pretty cool...especially with characters like Griselda Blanco or Rivi. If you haven't seen that documentary and are interested in the Cocaine culture of the 80s, then you should see it immediately. The entire time I was watching it, all I could think about was "R* needs to look at this, and get some inspiration...there are SO many mission possibilities to be derived from this documentary"...and the thing that is so wild is that all the stories are true. The pure brutality of the era was just overwhelming. Anyway, being able to do the Vice City area right would be awesome...just like what they're doing with Liberty City right now. I feel that while they downsized from SA to the new Liberty City, an expansion would be more beneficial for the newly revamped Vice City. It would allow for R* to include not only the city, but the suburbs, which play a large role in Miami. Places like Ft. Lauderdale, Sunny Isles, Palm Beach, Bal Harbor, and Boca Raton are all worthy additions to a South Florida-based city. They would also be able to include the Everglades, or at least some portion of them, in order to smuggle in drugs and possibly hide the bodies of certain people who are too important to leave lying in the street. It would also be cool to have a small set of islands that are not apart of the United States, which are similar to the Bahamas. These islands would be a great relay point for smuggling in drugs from outside of the country. I am very excited at the prospect of being able to return to the sun drenched land of drugs, neon, beautiful women, and fast cars...I really really miss Vice City. Last but not least, the new Vice City would definitely have to not be 1/3 beach like the last one. That was the most annoying thing ever. Canoxa
It would be just delightful. As an unconditional Vice City fan, I can't help but to be rather concerned. tmac9wr
I was just thinking about some more ideas about a new Vice City, and what the guys over at R* could do in order to bring a new aspect to the game. It further expands on my previous post where I mention that it could show the evolution of the city, along with the character. For the first time ever, a GTA game will actually show the progression of years. Here's my idea for the city/atmosphere of the city: It could start off in 1978 and go through part of 1979, when the cocaine trade was just blossoming. The city was becoming increasingly violent and more and more people were smuggling in coke, however the violence had not reached the ridiculous level it eventually would, and outside law enforcement agencies did not have an overwhelming presence in the city. Your drug enterprise would be just starting up, meeting new and important contacts and such, and missions would be relatively easy (as they usually are in the beginning of the game). This city would be relatively underdeveloped, with some new construction visible in the city, and the radio would be limited to music from the years of 1978,79. Overall, things are going well for your organization..there's plenty of room to expand, but things are still going smoothly. Here comes 1980. The Mariel Boatlift has come, and so has a giant influx of Cuban immigrants. Crime has escalated to a record high--the streets are practically a warzone. Murders are much more common, and so have the number of people trying to rip-off your coke shipments. This requires you to expand your protection racket, however this doesn't just mean you need to hire as many people as possible. These people will help protect your shipments and your territories, but if you over expand your organization too quickly with too many people, it will increase the chances that someone in your organization will turn on you. So this will be a time of the expansion of the protection in your organization, along with the amount of drugs you are smuggling. In 1981, the city goes on a frenzy of hiring new cops in order to counteract the overwhelming increase in violence. However, many of these cops are easily corrupted, and through pay-offs you can make these police officers work for you and not against you. During the years of 1980 and 1981, new buildings will have been built, meaning there will be less open lots in the city. New buildings would be shown coming under construction aswell. The radio would now be expanded to include music from the time period of 1980,81 along with the 78,79 period. Also, there would be a visible increase of people in the streets of the city...new clubs being built, more fancy cars, mansions etc. This progression would take place until 1982. In the real world of 1981, Time magazine published the article Paradise Lost?, which highlighted the extreme problems in South Florida. This caused federal forces to step in and help try to stop the violence. This is the part of the game where things start getting extremely hard. This would make missions for smuggling drugs that much harder, and violence in the streets would face much quicker and more forcefull response. The more the government cracks down on the industry, the more you see your criminal syndicate begin to fall from glory. People who are less important in your organization begin getting busted, etc...people begin to start flipping on you and ratting on your syndicate. This is when your objective is no longer to deal in drugs, but to get out of the industry and set up a plan to make your getaway out of the country, possibly to the Bahama-style islands I mentioned in my previous post. It would be the first time ever in the series where you would actually end up leaving the city and being forced out...or maybe you don't make it, and end up being killed...the possibilities are endless! This time period would extend into 1983, where government forces would become even tougher. Like in previous time-periods, new music from those years would be played on the radio along with the music of previous time periods. Now before people start talking about how leaving the city would ruin the GTA experience because you wouldn't be able to go around the city and do side missions, etc...let me finish. Since the city actually evolves through the passage of time, you would be able to return to the city, in any of the different time periods (1978,79; 80,81; 82,83). Each of the time periods would have unique side missions. A few quick things could be: In the easy smuggling era of 78,79 there could be various ways of smuggling in coke; in the violence era of 80,81 you would do a variety of random hits (similar to the Mr.Teal hits in the original Vice City); and in the government crackdown era of 82,83 you could help other drug dealers get out of the country before being caught by the police. Obviously there would be other side missions, these are just things I thought of in literally 2 minutes. Imagine what the minds at R* could come up with over a time period of a year or two. Quick multiplayer thought: Protecting your shipment of coke. One side is transporting cocaine from a boat/airport to a safehouse, while the other team is trying to hi-jack the shipment. Last but not least, @ Quarts: What the hell are you talking about? Vice city was sick..Tommy was 10 times better than CJ, and Vice was small but so was Liberty originally. Obviously R* would re-vamp the Vice City map just like they are doing to Liberty City. A random side-note: it would be awesome to see the Flourescant-clad nightclubs of Miami in Next-Gen format.
