ROCKY-BALBOA
One thing in SA was when u hit the traffic lights, they krunble down, and go into the ground, which was really fake and did look like a glitch. In this video, near the end when he is speaking, look at the traffic light in the background, and look how it shakes from the wind..Very realestic.. http://www.rockstargames.com/IV/#?page=glebov&content=video0 Sorry if it's a re-post, could not find a similar post.. MrKlorox
I hate to sound like one of the first-five reply dicks on this forum, but the fact that GTA4 uses Euphoria (a physics-based animation engine that allows for realistic and randomly unique moments) implies that the rest of the world (that was destructible in previous GTA installments) will react accurately to physical destruction. I don't think it has been announced exactly WHICH physics engine will power Euphoria (probably Havok or AGEIA) but the end result doesn't vary enough to produce a definitive result. SHORT ANSWER: A BIG EMPHATIC YES!!! Traffic lights will fall properly according to how much velocity and from which angle was the source of the impact. Semi-On-Topic: Anybody know which physics engine GTA4 will use? NaturalMotion opted for AGEIA for its entry into the American Football genre of videogames, Backbreaker. I can only guess this is because NVIDIA has attained the physics processing unit creating company (with the presumed integrating of technology into it's latest line of GPU chips). It would make sense for Rockstar to use AGEIA PhysX technology since they have classically supported NVIDIA GPUs (as referenced to the launch of the PC San Andreas). MCFC
Anybody know which physics engine GTA4 will use? Errrrr It's using Euphoria Euphoria is not a physics engine I am fairly certain RAGE (Rockstar Advanced Game Engine) has its own physics engine in there. MrKlorox
Anybody know which physics engine GTA4 will use? Errrrr It's using Euphoria Euphoria is NOT a physics engine, but an ANIMATION engine that relies on a pre-exisitng physics engine. Read up on Backbreaker. Why would NaturalMotion (the makers of Dynamic Motion Synthesis - the technology behind Euphoria and Endorphine) announce making use of AGEIA's physics engine if it contained it's own physics engine (which it doesn't)? EDIT: I am fairly certain RAGE (Rockstar Advanced Game Engine) has its own physics engine in there. Ah, I was beaten to it. Interestingly possible, yet financially unlikely. It would take millions of dollars to develop a proper physics engine in-house. Which seems ridiculous with licensable physics engines already developed. AGEIA decided to develop one (with existing competition HAVOK already in the market) because they had the relatively unique had the idea of hardware driven physics.
