Picolini
If it's anything like getting citizenship in the US, it will be a long process, that involves some testing and plenty of cash. People may be able to give you some pointers here, but most likely it'll inevitably turn to you contacting the local government office of the place you're moving to. JoeyLeone25
Best way is always to marry into a country. I'd assume like any country, you'd have to apply for a Work Permit/Work Visa here, which may be harder to acquire due to the high-rates of immigration today, and eventually (could be anywhere from 3-5yrs depending if you've married a British citizen) if your a so-called 'good intentions citizen, who's been settled here for a year (minimum) and hasn't left the country for more than nine months in those years, you should be given the opportunity to apply for British Citizenship. However, I'd watch out over the next few years, as the rising influx of various legal and illegal immigrants over the last five years has seen the immigration laws continually brought up in Britain Parliament, with the Home Office considering closing immigration (big clamp-down) to everybody apart from the 'skilled workers' in the future. Crokey
Looky here There is a whole list of requirements that you'll need to fulfill, I wish the policy the UK's got was the same as the US I'd be living there in no time (my flag is US, I'm British in case you wonder about my ramblings)... no wonder Britian's getting filled with every man and his dog (not that I have a problem with that, unless you want to start sh*t) But why do you want to move to the UK, it's f*cking expensive, crap weather etc etc etc. Especially if you're wanting to move to Glasgow or Edinburgh, Glasgow's housing market is still rocketing and Edinburgh's always been expensive, ask youself can you afford £100,000 (CA$200,000 approx) for a one bedroom, tiny apartment, OFFERS-OVER in Scotland as well, so that will be about £140,000 (CA$280,000 approx) minimum with no garantee you'll get it, plus the mortgage market in the UK is faultering and on the brink of collapse along with the housing market in general. Basically since you're Canadian (I presume from your member title) you'll have a good idea about this question, Could you afford New York City (Lower Manhatten) prices on a Canadian Pay Packet? Unless you rent full-time like the rest of the Canadians that come to Edinburgh, who claim to Comedians and researching material for the Festival, I know of at least 3 Canadian Comedians who say that and get away with it.
