In short, he's a vindictive, hypocritical ambulance chasing lawyer who hates anything and everything that will earn him face time on TV. This includes rap, homosexuality and, of course, violent video games. His feud with the gaming world has been well documented. He holds a unique grudge against Take-Two/Rockstar. Anyway. The man's an obvious delusional. He rants and whines like a child against video games, despite the fact that there is NO conclusive scientific evidence to support his claims. My question is: What's the prognosis? What's he gonna pull when IV hits shelves? A boycott? Blame a school shooting on it? Pander to Fox News about the hidden Zionist subtext in the game's opening and closing cutscenes? Hell, anything's possible. That's a man who's belief aren't motivated by petty facts. Also; it's been said that the lawyer you kill in one level is a crude parody of Jack (not unlikely at all). Thompson has proposed legislation to stop the game on the grounds that it "profits at his expense." Is Rockstar gonna change the character and be subtler in their spoofing? Because Take 2 had charges against him and dropped them if he signed a contract sayin he wouldnt get directly involved. Have you heard the saying "there's no such thing as bad press"? Well, there is some truth to that, especially regarding something that is being marketed. JT has probably sold more video games that almost any other person on Earth. JT and video games have a weird sort of symbiotic relationship. He is actually adding to the popularity of the things he is attacking, which in turn means he needs to attack it more, so it becomes more popular... feedback loop. Yes, he signed a very specific deal saying that he can't hider the games sales through legislation, but apparently he's just protecting his image (in his mind at least). Wow... didn't realise you Americans watched Chasers War On Everything too.. or did they get news coverage for the APEC thing in the states too? I saw a video of him and he sounded like he was just against games being sold to people below the required age. Which is reasonable.
