MrKlorox
Why on Earth are people ignorantly presuming the next stand-alone GTA will be GTA5? ... Dude, we all know how the naming of the GTA series works. Ignorance isn't an issue in this case. We use "V", and "VI" because the future games are as of yet, untitiled, so using the roman numerals makes it easy for others to understand what we're refering to. Just the same, a for you as a reward for your well articulated huff. Perhaps I was a bit huffy, but when I read "GTAV", I cannot help but imagine it as 3+ full GTA's in the future. And I hope that remark about my huff being "well articulated" was a joke... I, sir, went to public school in Texas. The closest thing to articulation we can do is in fact irrigation. Grand Theft Auto Dude
GTA IV took so long because they were making the new engine/physics and implementing Euphoria, plus making all the new features and little details. They won't be doing all that for the next one. My opinion of the next GTA's are: GTA IV Vice City, GTA San Andreas Stories (PSP), GTA IV San Andreas, and GTA 5, in a new city, on the new consoles, in a new engine. THAT one will be the one that will take 4-5 years to make.
TheDude5000
They really waited too long to release the new GTA. Look at last gen: A year in, we had GTA III. And at that time the Gamecube and XBox were only just launching so the generation still felt new. Now we've been into this gen since 2005...and we still haven't had GTA IV. I mean they really need to hurry with the sequels. We had VC only a year after the first. So I'm hoping we have a new GTA next Fall. As for a second sequel...by 2010 this gen will start coming to a close, so hopefully it'll be a Spring release too. It'd really suck if we only got two full GTA titles this gen, when we got three last gen. Not to mention all the handheld titles, which they have also seem to stop doing completely. MrKlorox
My opinion of the next GTA's are: GTA IV Vice City, GTA San Andreas Stories (PSP), GTA IV San Andreas, and GTA 5, in a new city, on the new consoles, in a new engine. THAT one will be the one that will take 4-5 years to make. I personally doubt with a passion that Vice City or San Andreas will make a return in the (presumed) GTA4 "trilogy". I bet the next one will be in a much larger area than LC with plenty of open road to explore... perhaps even another full state (like GTA4 was originally mapped to be). I also bet the next one will not be as modern as the past few GTAs. As far as San Andreas Stories on PSP, I feel it is more likely we will get one of the three lands/cities in the original San Andreas if anything. It's quite possible no SA Stories will ever come to exist. EDIT: grammar Edited March 14, 2008 by MrKlorox

I think we'll see a PSP2 sometime in 2009, perhaps we'll see some GTA content on that.
theInvisible Y
personally, i'm sad to say this might be the only GTA game for the current gen consoles. I dont expect to see another GTA game till the next gen comes in 2011 because of the DLC. it almost makes me wanna cry...
gilly11
I'll wait 3-4 years. There is a life, a job, TAFE, and other games to tide me over until then.
adrian949
all u guy say 4 years u guys are forgetting they always aim for an october release because it is more profitable. So 4 years from now is also a spring release date, this is probably a wrong estimate. I would say they will take an extra half year to make the next one because of the DLC, and 3 years to make the game because they got all the physics engines done and understood and tamed (like RAGE and Euphoria). Since they are aiming for october releases the correct approximation would be so many years and a half (2.5, 3.5, 4.5) 2.5 is to short and 4.5 is just ridicuoulsy far away. The most logical release date is 3 AND a HALF YEARS FROM NOW, so expect the next game to comeout late OCTOBER 2011!
BobsYourUncle...
I guess I can say I have waited for around 3 and a half years for this game to come out since I didn't really like the GTA VCS or LCS, so yeah, about that time, but, I have waited that long, I wouldn't mind if there was a short delay for about 1 month just to get rid of most the bugs (if they have to! not saying they should) but any longer and I wouldn't want to wait. ScarySquirrel
The next few games will be based on the GTA IV engine, so I wouldn't expect them to spend the same time, or more, developing the next game. However, as mentioned, with DLC coming out, that could put it back a little.
