Just a bigger galaxy. What so good about it? - There's no massive robots - There's no cute anime - There's no massive starship battles - There's no magic - There's no vampires I can name hundreds of games better than this lame excuse. It is WAY OVERHYPED. List of better games to play on :- - GTA series - COD - Neverwinter Nights (you GET TO BE A DUNGEON MASTER and kill real players for fun) - Fate the diablo clone is even better - Diable 1 and 2 - Sid Meiers Pirates - Postal 2 (you GET TO PEE ON PEOPLE) etc etc etc so.. pls tell me what so good about mass effect? it will probably end up like Planeshift Torment - nice good storyline but nothing new compared to the best from beyond the USA.. Short version? Buy it. i already did read that description. i also hve rea dthe wikipedia entry and a few other reviews. Granted it robably has a nice story. But that's IT. There's nothing else new in this title. Why so much interest in it? Spend 5 minutes in SilkRoad Oline and you would learn 20x MORE than spending 1 hour in Mass Effect. Same goes with so many other games which are WAY better than ME. - Ultima Online Shards - Dark Age of Camelot - Battleships Forever (the new top down space arcade version which is real time and multiplayer) - Any one of the top 10 indie games from the LAST 4 YEARS. THATS 40 GAMES BETTER THAN MASS EFFECT. So that's why I haven't bought it. Even Bioware has at least one better game out than ME: Dragon Age. But I ssuspect ME is popular because of its so so storyline. Yet the storyline is TRULY SOSO. nothing that great in it. Just go read a Berserker novel or a Peter Hamilton Trilogy and it is better. It is a fantastic game, while nowehre near as good as Knight of the Old Republic( in my opinion at least) it should be owned by all rpg fans. If you want to wax poetic about the merits and shortcomings of this game compared to other RPGs, I suggest you try Bioware's Mass Effect forum. Are you trying to convince yourself not to buy it? If you have ever played Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, you'll enjoy this, as it's made by the same people. NO other form of assessment comes into this. You either like RPG's or you don't. I never listen to reviews until I've played the game and reviewed it for myself. I agree mass effect is a generic rpg, i had hopes for bioware on this one after the disaster that was jade empire, but this is even worst. im gonna try the superior version on PC though. and bioware stick to pc games, already 2 flops on the xbox doesnt speak well for the company. I'd say that Mass Effect is far from a Generic RPG. Considering Mass Effect and Jade Empire are both incredibly critically acclaimed games picking up numerous awards I'd say they're far from flops as well. Just because Mass Effect didn't completely reinvent the RPG genre doesn't mean it isn't a great game. Mass Effect was one of the best games of 2007.
