Slamman
The recent news of another political scandal I thought might have been raised here in the GTA forums because of the connection to NY, and not only that but the political machine working publically against Grand Theft Auto since GTA Vice City rose to prominence. Here's an online news excerpt on this timely subject: Still, Spitzer's many enemies from Albany and Wall Street were emboldened, and some of his friends went from shock to outrage. "Particularly because of the reform platform on which he was elected governor, his ability to govern the state of New York and execute his duties as governor have been irreparably damaged," said Citizens Union, a good-government group that supported the crusading attorney general for governor in 2006 and provided critical support in his effort to reform Albany. "It is our strong belief that it is now impossible for him to fulfill his responsibilities as governor. Accordingly, Citizens Union urges him to resign as governor." The case against Spitzer, a 48-year-old married man with three teenage daughters, started when banks noticed frequent cash transfers from several accounts and filed suspicious-activity reports with the Internal Revenue Service, a law enforcement official told the AP. The accounts were traced back to Spitzer, prompting public corruption investigators to open an inquiry. Charlie Rose is discussing this issue in depth right now, and it's interesting it's getting mentioned everywhere to tonight. I heard it joked on the radio this afternoon for the first time. This is more proof, GTA is not the sole blemish on the downfall of society. So pleaSE! More common sense on this whole issue would be nice. You'd think maybe he'd blame GTA for his actions!?!? -B
unopescio
Ive read the post and thread title 4 times and I still don't get it Who's Spitzer? Why is he in trouble? What does it have to do with hookers? What does it have to do with GTA? Should this be in gen chat? I just don't get it.
Slamman
Eliot Spitzer, Governor of NYC... I am not sure of this prior because I thought it was Michael Bloomberg, so I am not one who's up on politics in general. He was moving the money in the accounts to pay for a reported $40 to $80K in high price call girl 'servicing'. As to the relation to GTA, NYC for one, or Liberty City if you forgot. AND the whole dispute against Vice City and GTAs prior I imagine, is the hiring of a prostitute to have sex (services) and then killing her afterward. This real life example is worse, he has kids and a wife!!! Edited March 12, 2008 by Slamman
Vanilla Shake
With pressure mounting on Gov. Eliot Spitzer to resign over a call-girl scandal, investigators said Tuesday he was clearly a repeat customer who spent tens of thousands of dollars, perhaps as much as $80,000, with the high-priced prostitution service over an extended period of time. This is seriously the biggest topic in New York right now. Eliot Spitzer swallows? TC718 / <629 / CF5

I only know a little bit about this because i saw a glimpse on the news, but basically isnt it just the cause for a prostitution crackdown? I don't see what the problem is if they are regulated. the problem is that no politician would have the balls to legalize it. governments view issues in short-sighted ways. any problem that arises, is quickly dealt with, with a 'band-aid' solution as all they are looking to do is win next election, to stay in power - efectively, lining their pockets. so basically politicains are just big money hungry, greedy pricks . bigmamatuna
Bible-banging religious freaks would sh*t themselves to death if prostitution gets legalized. Those people in a force are too much to deal with so the government just says f*ck it. Like the 700 club times 8000.

Picolini
You guys should just legalize it, I don't see what the big problem is. Is it legal over there? I personally think whore-houses that are regulated for disease and ran like any strip club would be fine. The street prostitute is really the problem, as they're mostly all drug addicted, diseased infested women. There is a place out west here, I think in Arizona or Nevada, and I think it's called the Bunny Ranch or something, that has legal prostitutes. There was a special on it on HBO a few years back... funny stuff.

It really isn’t that big of a deal, health inspectors go and test the people for nasty diseases, and then seedy truck drivers get some lovin. At least if it IS legalized, it can be taxed and regulated to actually keep it safe, and it frees up a few cells. This could be done with hundreds of "controversial" things, but politicians are just big pussys who are afraid of losing power more often than not. Slamman
Inside Edition covered this in depth only hours ago, so check for that online perhaps...or TMZ? He stepped down so one less vote for Hillary and one more State won for Obama!! Rock on! I think there is more then one, as evidenced on the news last night, but for starters...
