mikesta
I think locked topics should end up in their own forum section, to show new members what type of topics shouldn't be created. When a mod locks a topic, the topic would automatically be sent to the new section. For example: anuj makes a topic that is inappropriate and contemptible. A mod locks it and it is sent to the new section (junkyard is a austere name for the section) It'll also clean out forum sections from locked topics and crap. SWEETSAPRIK
A couple of things, first off there is a section where mods move topics, the bin, but regular members can't see it. Also, locked topics really only cause clutter for a bit, and even then only in inactive sections, everywhere else they're pushed to the bottom by new topics, or new posts in other topics. One reason I doubt this will happen is that leaving them where they are does give people an idea what kind of topics aren't acceptable in a given subforum. Moving all locked topics to their own section wouldn't do that as well, since sometimes a topic is more likely to get locked in one section than another, based on the subject of the topic and the purpose of the section. Also, the people that actually need to learn what kind of topic is and isn't acceptable are also the type that would ignore a "locked topic" section completely. Kind of in the same way people tend to miss things that are pinned, even though they're right at the the top staring them in the face. Also, I tend to be amused by anuj's topics, even ones that might be considered "inappropriate and contemptible" by others. PяopagaиdaIиc.

Yeah, but you could have given it a better font colour, I am tired of Sweets' font colour, it makes me never read his posts.
Guybrush Threepwood
Yeah, but you could have given it a better font colour, I am tired of Sweets' font colour, it makes me never read his posts. Svip is clearly wearing boots of Contribution +5. Luckily, if sweets doesn't do it for you, lime green will, so here we go: A number of things, first off, there is a section where mods move topics, the bin, but regular members cannot see it. Locked topics really only cause clutter for a bit, and even then only in inactive sections, everywhere else they're pushed to the bottom by new topics, or new posts (by my good friend Guybrush) in other topics. And that's why I love Guybrush. Also, the people that actually need to learn what kind of topic is and isn't acceptable are also the type that would ignore a "locked topic" section completely. Kind of in the same way people tend to miss things that are pinned, even though they're right at the the top staring them in the face. Exkabewbikadid
Consider the reasons a topic may be locked: - Repeat topic - Accidental double post - A new topic has taken place of an older version - TS requested a lock - A reasonable discussion has turned into a flamewar/spamfest - It's sh*t When I was first given the opportunity to help lead the IV section about a year ago, I thought the best solution would be to either bin all locked topics or somehow reverse pin them to the end of the forum. Experience has showed that it's usually just best to let them be as they fall from the first page.

But anuj is a mod, you saying mods are also not allowed to make inappropriate and contemptible topics...

He wasn't a mod forever and even if he was, nobody and I mean nobody has the right to make sh*tty topics - not the mods, neither the admins. They'll be locked or binned. /girishb runs. Tonay_Montana
LOL wouldnt this effectively create a forum full of crap so to speak? It's bad enough that the locked topics are there in the first place, but to collectively accumulate them in a forum, is almost glorifying them in a way.
