He may have been injured regardless however the main impact would've been the nose of the car into either the wall or into the Sauber (Adrian was clear at the time of the crane so we can only assume he would have been clear regardless) and the cars are designed with this kind of impact in mind. He was going fast but there have been harder crashes. Hamilton's 2007 Nurburgring practice crash comes to mind for similar speed.

 

The main issue is the fact his headrest and indeed his own head was the first point of impact.

Caterham's most likely dead already+ Kamui's already gone off and done Super Formula testing with Toyota so i think that he isn't an option. I reckon Sauber is the team that if they were to buy someone, it would be them. Also Movistar is rumored to be the McLaren title sponsor for next year. Honda i think will have an interesting year, most likely have teething problems with the PU.
