Are they even trying to veil what they're doing?

I'd wager that any moron with more braincells than fingers would be able to tell you that the FIA is finding any excuse to influence races.

Pretty crap race overall. Kubica is exceptionally well to stop Raikkonen coming through even if he blocked him, which is illegal.

How is defending position illegal? Kubica done nothing wrong.

@Brad: Just because the commentators said that he wouldn't put up a fight, doesn't mean that he wouldn't. As you could see by the line he was driving to stop Massa, he was trying to stop him.

Monaco? Yes. Valencia? No particularly. Singapore? Hardly.

That was some good driving and its pathetic you cant see that.

Of course it is good driving, taking a lap of Melbourne in 1:24 is GOOD driving. However, at that level, it was nothing special. It's pathetic you can't see that.

I took a few pictures of Massa's lap around Singapore and Valencia, you'll see they do get pretty close to the barriers, lap in and out. I didn't take the pictures of the apex's because I'd be here all day.

Even if they're not, the fact the fans are questioning their intent is surely damaging the sport as a whole.

They need to be some consistency in quick. Especially if 2009 is a lot closer like they're promising.

Ah, but i can see that. The reason i think it was so cool was because i cant drive like that and probably never will be able to. So, to see people do that at such a speed is incredible.

@Those pictures: Numbers 1 and 2 aren't that impressive. Number 3 is good though.

1 that i can remember from Singapore was the left-hander that goes into a tunnel. It was always Kovy that got really close to the barrier and i thought he was going to crash but he just got through.

'Twas some good driving.

Lap in, lap out, with sufficient consistency - it's pretty incredible.

Sure is. That's what I like about street circuits, it doesn't reward brain fade.

Of course, the only issue with em is the lack of overtaking usually but hey-ho.

True, but when there are overtaking moves, they are spectacular.

Well...

So, have you guys heard that FIA is thinking of standardizing F1 engines in 2010.

Citing the ridiculously spiraling costs associated with engine development, the FIA sent out a statement seeking drivetrain suppliers for every Formula 1 team starting in 2010, meaning that the same engine/trans combo would be fitted to every car on the grid. The company that gets the contract would either build and supply the engines or design and supervise the building of them so they meet a specified range.

I personally think its the last drop in the cup. Considering the obnoxious decisions coupled with design limitation will surely kill the point of competing. I always liked the fact that a team which is behind on technology might make a surprise win (Toro Rosso anyone?). To me its the essence of racing... doing your best with whatever youve got.

Its becoming the A1 series...

A1GP anyone?

Its going to be exactly like it, then.

Going to be a good start of the race, then.

Hopefully, when Hamilton screws up the starting, he doesn't plough into the Ferrari's causing the stewards to make a call that doesn't please McLaren supporters, forcing them to make a useless petition noting how they think the FIA is 'supporting' Ferrari.

Yes, because the FIA have not give Massa or Kimi a decison this year have they. Bourdais anyone, Spa anyone. FIA favor Ferrari way more than they do Mclaren otherwise this season would be pretty much done if they let Hamilton keep the win at Spa but not they didnt did they.

Yeah, i agree with the Boudais incident. What the f*ck is their problem there, but you really need to get over Spa and stop complaining about it whenever the opportunity arrises.

Yes it was a while back but it was still a crap call by the stewards that still may cost Hamilton the title if he screws up at Brazil. But you aint dropped the whole thing that Hamilton cant start races well, still finished in front of your men today though didnt he icon14.gif

Haha, true.

Yes, they did. I actually though Massa was going to do worse than that.

@Mark: Well, its pretty clear to me that Hamilton will take out the title (not that im not still hoping he'll crash out), but im still going for Ferrari for the Constructors. icon14.gif

True i can not see Mclaren winning the constructors either. If Heikki made it around in the points on Sunday i would of thought that they would of had at least a gllimmer of hope, but not now. Ferrari are to far ahead for Mclaren to do anything now unless something happens to both Ferrari boys which i cant see happening.

I can't see anyone but Lewis winning the championship.

I don't really mind because I've always liked Ferrari because of Schumacher, I've always liked McLaren because of Mercedes (best car in the world, in my opinion) and BMW because of Quick Nick (my favourite driver), so whoever ends up winning, I don't really mind. smile.gif

Brings up a good point...to show you what kinda fanboy I am, I always supported Schumacher no matter what happened, and now I do the same with Hamilton. Hell I've not even got team loyalty! Mind you One left in 2006, the other arrived in 2007, so worked well from that point of view.

But being British and all, if he came in 2006 or if Schumacher left in 2007, you would have gone for Lewis I assume. wink.gif

Sorry to interrupt the topic guys but the way in which Hamilton entered the F1 scenario and took the entire world by storm is just amazing. Schumacher didn't make such an impact when he began his career. So i too go with Mark and support Hamilton anyday. He's just brilliant. Now over to you Mark wink.gif

Schumacher didn't start in a top team wink.gif

But yeah, I'd have been a Hamilton fan regardless! Mind you, I supported Michael even when we were fielding Damon Hill and David Coulthard in the Williams team!

And so they should.

It's not their fault if they are superior to 90% of the other teams.

McClaren probably feels the same way.

How can the people behind F1 and FIA pull so many billions of dollars a year while still making the general public think they are totally garbage at their jobs?

Link to comment

Hmm...I can see FOTA getting together to leave the FIA behind. I'd assume Bernie will part company with Max considering he doesn't want to lose his lucrative deal with CVC too.

I can just see most of the engine makers splitting into a spin-off series with the same rules and regs, the FIA will lose their pinnacle racing formula and F1 will just be the same just with a few rule shakeups considering the FIA won't be involved.

Combined, the FOTA is more than enough of a match to take on the FIA anyway.

At worst, it'll be like CART and Indy for a few seasons, then they'll kiss and made up.

At least with two rival championships, more cities will get to host races tounge.gif

Ferrari said they'd have to reconsider their involvement in the sport if mad max goes along with making engines standard across all cars. If that happens, I'm sure Mercedes, BMW, Renault, Toyota and Honda will have to make the same decision. They're not car makers for nowt after all.

I would like the idea of all the engines same across the board because isnt that A1GP. Thats why i like F1 because no two teams are ever the same each team has to hav its own individuality. As much as i hate Ferrari i just think that if they were to leave F1 then something would definetly be missing from the sport and the sport may be trnished because of it.

I really hope they dont decide to go through with this.

Ferrari will leave, McLaren will leave, other such teams will leave and we'll have Adrian Sutil on the podium.

They need to keep F1 and A1 seperate. Otherwise, we'll have two of the same one and they only difference will be its teams fighting each other, not countries.

It'd be foolish to make F1 exactly like A1 because they'll lose every single F1 viewer and they'll never maked money.
