Aye, but people still say he gained an advantage as supposedly he wouldn't have been close enough to Kimi to make a pass into La Source....despite the fact at one point under braking into the bus stop his car was actually slightly ahead...and the fact that he did yield the place, passing the start/finish line 6km/h slower than Kimi and it's quite obvious from the action there was no slip-streaming due to the fast darting actions of both vehicles.

Infact, the fact Kimi went all spacko into turn 1 is pretty much what allowed Lewis to come alongside, along with the fact he was earlier on the brakes than Lewis. To be fair, it could even be said that Kimi actually tried 2 blocking attempts down into La Source, which is against the rules in itself.

Hell, Stefano Domenicali himself put it down to "Racing".

Ralf Schumacher has also called it complete bollocks.

http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news...908173841.shtml (http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/080908173841.shtml)

Then again, as it was a time penalty awarded as an equivalent to a stop-go penalty, it is arguable whether it can be appealed at all, after all, stop-go penalties cannot be appealed.

Still, Mclaren are typically strong at Monza (something the Tifosi are never happy about) so we hopefully should see Lewis extending his lead this weekend. Also, importantly for the constructor's championship, Kimi will be on his 2nd race with the same engine (as it was not damaged in his accident) so he'll need to take it easy to some extent due to Spa and Monza being particularly hard on engines, otherwise he'll risk a conrod failure like Massa at the Hungaroring and himself in Valencia.

Hopefully we won't see a repeat of Monza 2006 qualifying.

Well, i've seen a replay of the race now and this 'charge' against Hamilton is looking even more ridiculous, even if i do hate him as much as i do.

Sucks for Raikkonen with that crash, though.

It'd be great for Massa and Ferrari if the charge stands.

Yeah, but I bet you that they'll be more than a few Ferrari mechanics thinking "This might end up pretty bad."

What do reckon will be the penalty on Ferrari if they are found to be bribing the stewards?

I don't think there's any bribery involved, just bias. Kinda like in 1989 at Suzuka, where Senna missed a chicane in an incredibly similar event to Spa when fighting with Alain Prost. Senna felt he was robbed of the championship as a result.

Senna always thought (The French) Jean Marie Balestre (FIA President at the time) favoured Prost (also French) and thus was always biased against Senna, similarly how to some could claim Max Moseley despises Ron Dennis.

Well...

I think its the track that is to blame...

But seriously, dont yall remember when Schumacher cut the same corner. He did the exact same thing but didnt get penalized.

Actually... he didnt even slow down.

let me guess, Ferrari fan are you?

of course i support hamilton, but alot of neutrals have said its not right, especially when Schumacer did the exact same thing but never gave up his place back, and got off scott free!!! its situations like this that are destroying this sport after it finally getting exciting to watch again,

I dont think its a matter of seeing sense as much as a matter of doing the right thing. By law Hamilton did nothing wrong, so how can he get punished. If this was a Ferrari doing it to Hamilton or anyone else in the field they would of got off. F1 and the FIA have always been biased towards Ferrari ever since Schumi joined them. None of us here have been F1 pros but we all see the right result in this. Hell even Lauda says it was wrong, as do most of the pros and ex - pros and i take there word over anybody elses because they have been behind the wheel of a F1 car.

Two controverisal decisions in two races, both favouring Massa and both ridiculous? I'm not one for any kind of Ferrari conspiracy theory, but something is to blame for these sh*t decisions. If the title is lost by a couple of points then what had promise of the best season in years is going to end in a farce. Only Schumacher has ever managed to make that happen. Jerez 97 anyone?

Uh, its hardly severe enough to 'destroy' the sport.

Its merely a controversial decision.

People will and if not, should get over it in time.

I wouldnt say one decision could destroy the sport, but it has tarnished the sport again twice in two years. After the whole fiasco of the spying thing last year i was hoping it'll just be about the racing this time and nothing else. But hey what do you know that aint gonna happen again.

Like i said it wont destroy the sport but if stuff like this happens year in year out you cant help but wonder were F1 will end up.

Just for the record i know the spying thing was completey different and huger but just trying to make a point before all the Ferrari fans go off there rocker at me.

Problem is, however circumstantial, recent results have undermined F1 ruling similar to how NASCAR is...where decisions are made almost purely to bring about a tight season finale. Now, this may not be intentional, but it's seeming that way.

What F1 needs is consistency. A voted, permanent stewards team. At the mo, there's a permanent stward and 2 elected stewards, one from the track itself, usually another from the national governing body. As a result, the stewards aren't always up to a high enough standard, plus their actions are often inconsistent.

Ideally, what should happen, is that the 3 stewards should all be permanent stewards, one voted for by the FIA, one from FOM, and the other from the F1 Teams Association.

Well, that's what I'd like anyway.

ED: Lmao, seems even Sir Jackie is thinking the same way smile.gif

And what reasons do you have which make you say that? Not that I'm worrying or anything, but the stewards are saying that Hamilton cheated, yet pretty much immediately after Hamilton went back on the track, he let Raikonnen. It doesn't matter whether you follow McLaren, Toyota or Williams (I myself am a BMW man), the thing is that Hamilton has not broken any rules and therefore should not be penalised.

I just caught the highlights on F1 ITV.....f*cking hell, that wasn't expected.

Hopefully the race will be wet too, and we'll see the quick cars eventually finding a rhythm and making it through the pack...but christ, apart from Kovy, none of the top 4 did well tounge.gif.

Hamilton down in 15th...with fast cars all around him. Gonna be a great race, especially if it's raining. He's somehow got to get on tabs with Massa up in 6th.

Cant wait for the race now. Its gonna be great.

I loved how Hamilton was too scared to push it in the chicanes and ended up down with Nakajima and Sutil.

That being said, Raikkonen also drove horribly yet he was at least 2seconds faster than Hamilton.

I thought Massa was going to make more of an impact in Q3.

I think Vettel did great to becomes the youngest pole-sitter in F1 history.

He really did drive well and was always at least .5 of a second ahead of everyone, until Kovaleinens last lap, of course.

Nonetheless, im going to enjoy watching in about 7 hours time.

I'm not gonna call this one. It is wet enough for anyone to take it.

I would love it if Vettel held on to first but I think Kova or Massa will get past. Massa to win probably. I just hope Hamilton makes it up the pack to a decent points position.

EDIT:

Amazing result for Vettel. Glad that Hamilton only lost one point to Massa and retains the lead for now. If it hadn't dried up Lewis had a great chance at even winning that race. I just wonder what penalty he'll get for doing so well ;p

Congrats' to Vettel. Very well driven race. He went straight out in front from the start and never looked back.

Sucked for Raikkonen. He had a massive burst at the end setting 3 fastest laps in 5 laps and over-taking 5 people in 10 laps but it was far too late.

He ended up 9th, just out of the points.

Well driven race from Massa from my point of view. Although, i believe he should've been running a 1 stop race because that is what put him back.

Hamilton was running a 1 stop race but was unfortunate that it stopped raining which forced him in for another pit to get the Inter's.

He overtook crap loads of people in that race as well.

1st - Vettel

2nd - Kovaleinen

3rd - Kubica

---

6th - Massa

7th - Hamilton

8th - Webber

9th - Raikkonen

10th - Piquet Jn

(thats all i remember)

(Im thinking Nick Heidfeld would've been 4th or 5th, though)

They had a long term forcast for Singapore. They're thinking its going to rain.

A night-time race on the rain will be very very interesting.

Cant wait tounge.gif

Wow, what a race. I hate to wave the Hamilton flag 24/7 but seriously, that Ferrari does not handle well in the wet it seems. Both drivers not making and progress whatsoever, even though they're meant to be the cream of the crop of the drivers these days.

Shame it didn't rain from Lewis' perspective, would've put him right up the sharp end by the end...but I'm for once glad that he didn't win.

Excellent race by Vettel. Well f*cking deserved. The STR3 has come on leaps and bounds in the last few races, especially in the light of the Renault's apparent horsepower deficit affecting a lot of the mid field and along with a great driver, it was only a matter of time before something amazing happened. Star of the future he is.

Good race would of been better if it did actually star to rain so Lewis didnt have to make a second stop for intermediates. Kinda slow start for lewis but soon picked up the pace. Surprised that Vettel did actually stay ahead of the pack, i thought the pressure would of got to him a bit but i didnt so congrats to him. Just hope the rest of the season is wet as it seems the Ferrari drivers arent all that great in bad weather.

When Aus turn out some decent drivers wink.gif

I liked the combo of the German and Italian national anthems. Reminiscent of the Schumacher era.

I must admit, Lewis was being a tad over aggressive yesterday. It was great fun to watch I admit, but he's gotta be careful. Very Schumacher in his approach to a lot of overtaking.

I heard he bumped our only hope in the last laps, forcing him to spin.

Nonetheless, great win by Vettel, and good joke there Mark. wink.gif
