Well I respect that they tried something new to try and spice Monaco up but it's fair to say that wasn't it.

The RB/Williams blockade got to the point that Russell straight up skipped the chicane and see if he can tank the penalty lol.

Wow. Max well and truly lost his head at the end. The safety car and putting him on hards was the the start but then he just completely lost his marbles.

Job done for McLaren, Piastri the strong strong favourite now for me, not just based on standings but just his general racecraft. You saw it today, yet another bad start for Lando, he aint winning the WDC with starts like that.

Feel like Hamilton got a bit f*cked by Ferrari a bit but damn he had no pace at the end, but a great race for Hulkenberg.

Which race are you referring to?

As an RBR fan I am not impressed with Max. Dude has nothing to prove and everything he does on track is legacy to him. You're supposed to be the villain when you're winning, not afterwards.

Schumi, Seb, Lewis, etc all had stints after their extreme success in humble teams with humble returns. With my rose tinted glasses, I remember Seb for his bee hotel, his Inspector Seb meme, last win in Singapore 2019, that podium in Baku 2021, and looking further back I only remember his sparkly helmet in 2010 and him bowing down to the RB9 in Buddh. I have to really really think hard to remember multi 21 and all the other nasty, dirty things he's done in the past.

The early pit didn't really seem to do much to help him plus he had a very slow pitstop that cost him as well. His pace at the end was rubbish as I said but perhaps with better strategy he might've not been in that positon. Hulkenberg had a tremendous race though, so maybe it would've played out the same.

I don't condone it. It shouldn't happen. It'd be a bad thing for the sport.

But... Max... you could do the funniest thing tomorrow at turn 1.

Max calling George's comments "childish" is so rich. If you don't want to be threated like a child, then... don't act like one? Not everyone has goldfish memory lol. That move in Spain isn't something I'm going to forget easily, and I'm not even a Russell fan lol. Who knows what sheanigans is he gonna pull today.

But I also seriously doubt the FIA will have the balls to give him a race ban if sh*t hits the fan. His absence at Austria would be a massive blow. It's pretty much orange territory over there. Plus two of his SL points will expire that weekend.

Lando, Lando, Lando...

When you're going for desperate moves like that in the first half of the season, and it's not even for a podium place, then I dunno what to say.

Ended up being a pretty straight forward race for George and Merc though. Kimi on the podium was great to see as well.

Lando SUCKS.

He had his chance to be champion last year. Ship has sailed.

Congratulations to Oscar. Can't wait for Mercedes to be a worthy oponent and Kimi to start winning. The future of F1 looks bright with the likes of Piastri, Antonelli, Hadjar, maybe a final shot for Max to be champion even.

He's not had the best car for probably 10 months or so now but it was inevitable his form would drop at some point. For a good while he was simply unbeatable, RB could set up his car wrong and he'd win, the team could f*ck up pitstops and he'd win, he could have the 2nd or 3rd fastest car at the track that weekend and he'd win. He'd pull out an absolute worldy in quali and get pole and not let go of first in the race.

Not even one of the best drivers ever can maintain that sort of form for that long, lol.

I don't think we've seen the last of him in the championship fight though, maybe not this season but you can't rule him out for another few years, he's still in his 20's after all.

His best drive ever (IMHO) is still recent, Brazil 2024. We definitely are on the "sunset" phase of his career, but I'm sure he still has some amazing races ahead of him. He should just play above Russell (lol) and anyone else in every aspect, including the mind games.

Eutyphro

Lol, the sunset phase of his career, he's 27 years old. He can compete for many more seasons if he wants. He can easily go on until he is 40 and longer if he feels like it.

But yeah, I'm sure that if Max made a move like Lando did yesterday the response would have been a whole lot more dramatic, but honestly, I can't think of Max ever trying an overtake that was that bad.

Like you said, "if he wants". Does he?

  • He has stated that he has no interest in beating records.
  • He has four titles under his belt, at 27 no less. More than exceeded his dream.
  • He is a father now.
  • He shows more interest in simracing and other racing series than F1.
  • He has hinted he doesn't like the direction F1 is going (who does tbh? 2026 looks dreadful).
  • He has no confidence in the future of Red Bull under Red Bull Powertrains.

The only way I see Max staying long term is if he secures a seat at Mercedes. Which isn't totally impossible...

Eutyphro

Yeah, I think part of the reason for the feud between Max and George is that George sees it as a threat that Toto is interested in signing Max. It makes for good tv though when we at least have some rivalry back. As for Max future, I think only he can decide what he wants to do. As a fan I would like it if he joins Merc with Antonelli as his teammate, but let's see what happens.

Mr. Sindacco

Been in the making for years, but I think Max is finally off to Mercedes now. Mercedes will have the best engine and he's trying to chase GOAT status, and he has a clause that lets him leave Red Bull if he's not in the top 4 of the championship.

I say let it happen for the spectacle.

It's never a given I don't think who will come out on top with the new regs, but in any case I'm all for the top drivers changing teams. It's one of the most exciting things to happen in the sport anytime it happens, it can trigger a real shakeup in the field and a changing of the status quo, both of which are exciting things for fans.

Do feel a bit sorry for George if it's indeed him who gets the sack, I don't think he deserves it, but Toto can't turn down Verstappen I guess. George and Max would be an awesome line up and potentially provide some fireworks but I doubt Toto/Merc want that.

Absolute chaos for the first 30-40 laps but very entertaining.

Don't really think Oscar has too much of a case for his penalty personally, if it was a case of bad timing then it's just unlucky I suppose. Him asking to swap places back if the team thinks he has a case was ??? as well. As a Brit it's always nice to see a Brit win the British GP, and a British team on top, so a nice day for British motorsport there.

Has to be said that holy f*ck the rookies struggled today though. Kimi got unlucky a bit as he got rear ended but yea oof, tough day for the young drivers today.

Shame Hamilton's podium streak at Silverstone came to an end but all good things come to an end at some point and if it was going to end then losing 3rd to Hulkenberg's first podium in F1 is a nice way to lose it, and Hulk earned it as well, he had a great race, it was no fluke.

Silverstone as it usually does deliverers an entertaining race, helped by the UK's weather being even more unpredictable than usual at the moment lol.
