Glock? Lol one good result and suddenly he's a podium finisher every race?

I'm reserving judgement til after practice. My money is on Mclaren though, they had the advantage at Montreal and Monaco...though to be fair, the setup many teams are predicting is similar to Hungary where to be fair it was pretty even...hopefully the track won't be so hard on the tyres for Lewis and Heikki.

I would say its pretty hard to judge whos gonna do what on this circuit at this time as no one has ever been round it before. (In qualfying or racing) But thats why im looking forward to this race as its new and will be very unpredictable.

Grid lineup tomorrow:

1. MASSA Ferrari

2. HAMILTON McLaren

3. KUBICA BMW

4. RAIKKONEN Ferrari

5. KOVALAINEN McLaren

6. VETTEL Toro Rosso

7. TRULLI Toyota

8. HEIDFELD BMW

9. ROSBERG Williams

10. BOURDAIS Toro Rosso

11. NAKAJIMA Williams

12. ALONSO Renault

13. GLOCK Toyota

14. WEBBER Red Bull

15. PIQUET Renault

16. BUTTON Honda

17. COULTHARD Red Bull

18. FISICHELLA Force India

19. BARRICHELLO Honda

20. SUTIL Force India

Good to see BMW a bit more on form at least considering they abandoned 2008 a long time ago. Should be a good race tomorrow, yet again the Mclaren is harder on it's tyres so will probably be disadvantaged, so really Lewis' only chance is at the 1st corner. I predict Massa, Hamilton, Raikonnen as top 3.

Meh, BMW race pace isn't great, especially as they dropped developing this years car a while back now. We'll see.

Yey decent qualifying but am i the only one that wasnt that impressed with the new circuit. I wont fully judge it till tommorw after the race, but it just felt like something was missing. Maybe from the track or the place itself i dont know. I may be being harsh as ive only seen it once, but i wasnt in awe of the circuit as i thought i would be. Did anybody else think this.

It's nicer than other modern circuits like Malaysia and Bahrain which are quite frankly boring in design. Huge runoff areas makes for uninteresting driving too, as the driver is not punished enough when they make a mistake. The end of the lap is pretty cool after the bridge, fast sweeping corners taken flat out, great to watch.

To be fair though, most of the modern circuits don't really have any awe inspiring parts anyway. My favourite parts of race tracks are probably the stupidly fast paced, direction changing parts like Maggots and Becketts at Silverstone, Turn 8 at Istanbul Park, Nurburging at Magny Cours etc. Sure, they're not overtaking spots (unless your name is Lewis Hamilton, more later) but it shows just how awesomely agile an F1 car is.

Here's what I mean about Lewis Hamilton. GP2 in 2006 biggrin.gif

Well...

Indeed, the circuit is boring.

A quote from one of the writers on Top Gears site: "That track is sh*te."

Anyway... Kubica was third... so... hah!

Aye Robert drove really well today. Kimi was unlucky, mind you even with some luck he's never doing THAT well.

I see Felipe kept hold of his win in the end. With Spa being next (Ferrari are strong there) it could be tight going into Monza, which is a track Mclaren usually have a slight edge. Mind you, if it's hot, they're screwed. Singapore should be a good one for Mclaren though.

It's gonna go down to the wire again it seems.

It's like a run around the docks. Weaving in between warehouses and huge f*ckoff grandstands. Large portions of the track are completely barren to spectators.

Not to mention all the rich assholes in yachts lining the marinas. That's cool in Monaco, but you can only have so many assholes in one F1 season.

I didn't like the circuit. If they want longevity, they should reclaim a bunch of the large warehouses and demolish them and put in lots and lots of gardens and trees to make it look more than a concrete depot. Make it more spectator friendly and above all, viewer friendly. I don't want to see them hurtle down a massive concrete straight. No, not when I'm comparing it to Monza and other lovely green circuits.

I thought the circuit was great. Not as many slow weaving turns as i would've liked but i prefer that over most f the other circuits in the F1 season.

Road circuits are great.

About the race: I only saw the last 12 laps so i have no idea what happened to Raikkonen. A blown engine i heard?

From what i saw/heard, Massa drove an excellent race apart from the mishap in the pit lane.

Can someone inform me whether he was penalised for that in the end? Apparently he could've had a grid penalisation or a 10-second penalty atthe end of the race, putting him in 2nd and increasing Hamiltons lead overall.

I agree after the race i just thought the same it was a sh*t circuit IMO. I never thpught i say this but i woul rather have another track like Malaysia or Bahrain as they are more intersting than the one in Valencia. There was hardly any overtaking whatsoever, even Barcelona has more overtaking and thats saying something.

I think they tried to hard in making it the next Monaco and it just failed, with all those cranes around the place it looked like more like a steel factory and construction site than a F1 race track.

Ferrari got a slap on the wrists and a fine. It was unsafe, but he gained no sporting advantage.

Cool, that is what i was hoping was going to happen.

Massa wouldn't have deserved it, i saw what happened on the news afterwards.

Raikkonen's was just a very stupid mistake. I cant believe he fractured that dudes foot. confused.gif

It's racing, he's human, it happens. Even the best do it. Schumi did it a few times from what I can remember.

Plus its Ferrari of course hes gonna getaway with it. (Im a Mclaren fan so im biased)

Although it did shock me today to find that Ron Dennis said he was ashamed to be English, sh*t has he only just realised that.

If I want to see rich dudes in fast cars drive around in circles for a few hours with little overtaking, I'll stop shaving my back and brushing my teeth and watch NASCAR.

In the meantime, I want my F1s back with tricky corners, lush forests (Spa, yay!) and a better ratio of real motorsport fans to twats on yachts than Valencia.

Heck, use two German circuits in a year. Or use a real city circuit instead of docklands (hint, Adelaide).

Adelaide was an awesome circuit I agree. Shame really, it still sticks out in my mind at bringing one of the most controversial results ever (end of 1994 anyone?)

Nurburgring and Hockenheim are pretty much dead certs for the calendar I feel. Nurburging is just epic, whereas as seen this year, Hockenheim brings about a really interesting race most of the time.

I feel Valencia has the ability to produce an interesting race, but like Melbourne seen this year, compared to the years around it, it can, but more often than not won't.

Hungaroring is boring too.

The best races are still at the old tracks really. I for the love of god hope they get Donington right (they're keeping the Cramer curves untouched from what I've heard which is good)

Hmm...Actually, looking back to the last few races, this engine development ban for a few years could be potentially harmful to the competitiveness of a number of teams. Valencia was predominantly a power circuit which is beginning to hurt the Renault users (Red Bull, Renault etc) but Ferrari seem to have an issue with con-rods, having had 2 engines go in the last 2 races with that fault. Either it's just a patch of bad luck (Torro Rosso don't seem to have issues with their Ferrari engines at the mo) or it is possible that a design flaw could be costing Ferrari dearly in the Drivers and Constructors championships.

After all, to finish first, first you have to finish.

So then. Spa this weekend. Ferrari had a 1-2 here last year and Kimi's won the last 3 times here. Massa's on fire recently too, but don't count out Mclaren just yet.

Who's your money on?

I'd like Raikkonen to win it. He seems rather confident.

Im not too sure where Massa will place but im thinking Hamilton will drag something out of his ass and get on the podium.

I like Massa. He reminds me of Barrichello, he looks like a cheerful bloke. I've never seen him unhappy or angry or anything. smile.gif

As for the race itself, I'm (of course) hoping that either Heidfeld or Kubica win, but I think that Hamilton will win it this year.

Im with you on this one Jay, i also dont understand why i dont like him winning. Is upport Mclaren but if i want any Ferrari driver to win it would be Kimi over Massa. I think it maybe because hes a cocky c*nt but i dont know for sure.

Anyone else watchthe qualifying?

Hamilton has Pole, with Massa accompanying him on the front row.

Kovaleinen split the two Ferraris in the last second to go third with Raikkonen obviously taking forth.

A very disappointing qualifying from the Ferraris point of view as they were hoping Kimi could recreate some of his old magic and get on pole.

We'll have to see how he goes in the race then.

I bet Massa will be looking to go down the inside of Hamilton at turn one, as in Hungary.

I thought it was rather funny that Bordais was P1 after Q2, i think, or Q1.

The commentator was like "Oh, and Bordais just takes P1". Very casual even though it was so unexpected.

I can see some crashes coming out of the first corner, it always seems to happen here at Spa. I haven't watched a Spa grand-prix since like 2001 or something. When did they change the good ol' "bus stop" chicane at the end? That always sent a few drivers packing. tounge.gif
