Orange Grove was just a BETA name given to the gang changed in the final version. That's what I think.

A powerfull ruthless Cartel organised gang, whose got the whole city in their pockets with SPANK which brings them bottomless funds to buy weapons and probably by 2008 even mercenaries from other gangs, the cops or military even. They are also an organised crime gang like the Mafia - having their own intelligence abilities, and are even associated with the bloody CIA and probably have political control via funding mayors etc...

I imagine that probably after the events of GTA3, they would become more of a secretive gang - they are already shady as hell in GTA 3 - and get more into politics.

Then you have OGF - hood gangbangers who fight turf wars and 'stick by their principles' as said by Sweet in the introduction, which made them weak as hell throughout GTA SA. They do rise to the top again, but their structure, ambitions and organisation will always remain small-time being the street gang they are. Infact, IMO they are even less organised than other street gangs like the Ballas - as throughout it is always just CJ and his immediate recruits who do attacks and defences on turfs. Unlike the Ballas, CJ and Sweet never organise waves of attackers, nor several groups with different leaders to attack turfs with roadblocks etc... like with other gangs. Also their weaponry remains bad - with the only heavy weaponry available to OG's like Smoke in missions. Otherwise, all that OGF have is the immediate 9mm's and tec-9's they have on them - with a slight upgrade by spraying over all tags. They don't have any weapons lock-ups with heavier wepons for 'special occasion'. OFG's most powerfull associates are the San Fierro Triads who are no more than an organised crime syndicate like the Mafia. Neither the Triads nor OGF have political/law enforcement backing or infiltration.

Even in a gang war with anomalous 'supermen' like CJ fighting for OGF, and giving OGF another benefit of the doubt in assuming the Cartel wont hire several equally skilled and trained 'supermen' like CJ from the CIA Death Squads, SWAT or the Military which they can and will do very easily - infact they already have them from the opening scene commandoes who spring the Oriental Gentleman. Also they can and did use SPANK to even get f*cking suicide bombers in GTA3! Well if we just ignore all o them and sweep them all under the carpet, the Cartel will still win easily hands down IMO.

Yeah she kills Ballas and picks up hookers. lol.gif

OK, I guess you pretty much foiled my con scheme, but thanks for considering it. But hey, hope you can't blame me for trying to make the results sensible (IMO anyways biggrin.gif).

I'm going with the Colombian Cartel, a lot of people bring up CJ as the reason why GSF would win in the end, the fact is it would help the GSF a great deal, but this is a gang war, not a character war.

Now lets take a look at the gangs, the GSF were almost taken out at the beginning of the game before the return of CJ. The Ballas and Vagos had a steady income due to the gangs dealing drugs and the connections to get heavy weaponry. You have to respect the GSF for sticking to their principles, but that allowed the Ballas and Vagos to become stronger, making more money and acquiring more turf. Without CJ, the GSF could have been wiped out. Sweet is another prominent OG, but he wasn't able to fight off the Vagos and Ballas before CJ got into the picture.

The Cartel on the other hand, have Liberty City in their pocket. They have bottomless funds due to pushing Spank, and therefore can acquire greater weapons such as AK's and Uzi's. The Cartel could very well be the strongest organization in the GTA World.

I like Grove Street, but in a fight I don't think they would match the Cartel.

Grove Street still needs 2 votes to get the crown though.

I'll Vote for Grove Street Because they Have CJ and Sweet. CJ is a guy who has worked for people all throughout San Andreas, has more contacts than the president and has unbelievable skills, He is an expert with almost every weapon and with some one like that leading you're gang you can never lose.

Man how can you vote like that? Even CJ would whack you over the head with a big purple dildo for that. lol.gif

j/k

Like skarface1013 said, it's a gang war, not character war, and OGF was almost taken out completely by a half-ass bunch of gangbanger Ballas and Vatos. And besides, if such a supermen like the GTA protagonists exist, surely the Cartel can easy buy a few such mercenaries and arm them to the teeth. Infact SPANK can get them a whole army of them. Oh, and while CJ got torrino, CC got the whole CIA.

OK, sorry about that rant, I'm just getting very bitter, and no-one's going out anywhere with me tonight. cryani.gif

I will be starting the Ultimate Gang Wars Game soon, after a winner is chosen for this tournament. The gangs featured will include all from GTA 2-GTA 4, including those from R* Manhunt and Manhunt 2. For those who are unfamiliar with the Manhunt games here are basic summaries of the gangs. I did the best I could.

The Hoods

The Hoods are "weekend warriors" who are mostly in the hunt for money, and thus not as aggressive as the other gangs. They consist mostly of off-duty police officers and local thugs whose appearance consist of generic, dark colored street clothing, as well as balaclavas and tights (hence the name of the gang). They are generally unorganized and unfocused, and do not always work together, making them easy to pick off one by one. They can often be heard speaking about various subjects which have nothing to do with the hunt on hand and complaining, thus further evidence that the Hoods are underestimating the danger they themselves are in. They are the first gang Cash encounters, thus the easiest to overcome, and are far less disturbing than the gangs encountered later in the game.

[edit] The Skins

A gang comprised of white supremacists, they are often heard shouting derogatory racial remarks about Cash's supposed "mudblood" and mixed-breed heritage, although Starkweather may have told them that so they will attack him with more hatred. They are armed with knives, nail guns and metal baseball bats and are found throughout the junkyard. Some members have the stereotypical white power skinhead look wearing form fitting t-shirts, army boots, shaved heads and suspenders, while others wear a goalie mask for intimidation, and are covered in tattoos. Their inclusion may have been a response to the controversial game Ethnic Cleansing which features a white supremacist killing minorities (as the levels in Manhunt require a non-white to kill white supremacists). Ethnic Cleansing was released a year prior to Manhunt.

[edit] The Wardogs

A group of war veterans, hunting enthusiasts, and survivalists who are among Starkweather's most efficient killers, using tactics of flanking, baiting, and full frontal assaults. They are outfitted in camouflage along with ghille suits, combat boots, and face paint, although some wear scarves over their faces, and carry tranquilizer rifles, machetes and knives. In one mission, they go so far as to kidnap Cash's relatives, and will shoot them for each time Cash is spotted. Much of their skill can also can attributed to Ramirez, who heads the Wardogs.

[edit] The Innocentz

A gang of hoodlums (some apparently Satanists) located in the shopping mall and various other parts of the city. They are the first gang encountered who use guns (particularly revolvers and double-barreled shotguns), but are also armed with knives, hatchets, and sickles. The Innocentz have two different types of gang members: the Skullz, a group of latino-style goths who wear skull masks and hoodies, and the Baby Faces, who are fat and wear bright flowered shirts and creepy, doll-like masks. The Skulls seem to be high on drugs, and can be heard to mention peyote. They also can be heard muttering to themselves about a clairivoyant figure guiding them to kill Cash, along with curses and angry groans. The Baby Faces are actually insane, and they ramble on crazily and are rumored to be pedophiles. They believe that Cash was sent by Starkweather to "play."

[edit] The Smileys

Truly insane psychotics. They wear yellow smiley face masks, usually with things such as "kill" and "please stop me" scrawled messily across them. They are covered in tattoos and sometimes wear blouses and dresses. Many of them can be heard screaming and ranting, talking about an unfaithful drunken husband named "Barry", who it is implied they have killed for cheating. They also rave about a chaotic dinner party. The Smileys appropriately occupy the Darkwoods Penitentiary mental asylum. They could be a reference to an earlier Rockstar North title Grand Theft Auto 2, where the first "island" had an insane asylum with the gang called "The Loonies," who had yellow smiley faces as their logo. They also look somewhat similar to the superhero Clownface. They are armed with meat cleavers, revolvers, handguns, sawed-off shotguns and SPAS-12 shotguns.

[edit] The Cerberus

A group of ex-spooks and mercenaries on Starkweather's payroll, they are the most dangerous enemy in the game. The Cerberus are equipped with Desert Eagles, SPAS-12 shotguns and M16 rifles, and will make short work of Cash. They usually work in groups, which makes it very hard to take them out. Over the course of the game, they ambush Cash and bring him to a new area, taking his weapons when they do so. They guard Starkweather's mansion and the surrounding grounds, and also make an appearance at the end of the asylum. Unlike the other gangs, who look upon Cash either with disdain, greed, hatred, or due to mental instability do not seem to care much, the Cerberus know what he is capable of (having watched him repeatedly and gruesomely kill many people in the course of a night) and some express fear or admiration of his abilities. Thus, they are much more careful than the gangs and even the police, and will use team tactics and excessive firepower to take him down if necessary.

The Asylum Staff

The orderlies at Dixmor Asylum. Being mostly unskilled, brutal thugs who were most likely hired by the Project to keep the Project's former test subjects quiet, they have little interest in the well-being of the asylum patients, and are not above using unnecessary physical force and excessive sedations. The orderlies have no weapons and no real talent for hunting. They will be in big trouble should Danny escape from the asylum.

[edit] The Watchdogs

The Project's "clean-up" crew. They are sent to kill anyone who knows too much about the Project and destroy any evidence that may reveal the Project's existence. They wear black suits with various masks to conceal their identity, ranging from ski-masks, fedoras, black scarves, sunglasses, and surgical masks. Some even wear a "phantom of the opera" type mask. The watchdogs chased Daniel six years ago when the bridge first malfunctioned, and are no strangers to the violence he is capable of. Their dialog hints that all of the old squads have been reactivated this time, due to the severity of the situation.

[edit] The Pervs

Violent leather mask or animal mask-wearing sadomasochists who work in a sex club called The Honey Pot. They are hired by the Project to lure potential new test subjects to the "dungeon," a location beneath the club, promising more action. There, unlucky customers are tortured and killed in numerous ways, with video cameras on the other side of a two-way mirror recording it for unknown research purposes. What they lack in intelligence and hunting prowess they make up for with savagery.

[edit] The Red Kings

A local street gang. Danny and Leo are forced to trek through their turf at one point in the game. They have nothing to do with The Project.

[edit] The Project Militia

The Project's own private army. It is made up entirely of war criminals and former death-row inmates. In exchange for their continued existence, they have sworn duty to the Project. All identifiable marks are removed from their bodies, and fingerprints are removed. Even their dental features have been altered to further destroy any trace of their past lives, effectively making them ghosts. Project soldiers owe their lives to the Project, ensuring they remain loyal, as well as the fact that personal relationships are strictly forbidden. The Project Militia unsuccessfully attempted to kill Daniel when he first went berserk, resulting in heavy casualties.

[edit] The Bloodhounds

Southern United States bounty hunters who are hired by the Project to track down and kill Danny and Leo. They are very enthusiastic about their jobs and also sport air support from a chopper. They are portrayed as stereotypical far-right southerners and can be heard yell pro-American, anti-liberal slogans. Some members can be seen sporting klan hoods, as well as tattoos which look vaguely similar to the Hammerskins logo (also featured in the Skinz gang in Manhunt), indicating the Bloodhounds may be immersed in white supremacy as well.

[edit] The Legion

A group of Dixmor Asylum inmates in the same part of the building as Lamb in "Awakening". They are seen with large bandages covering certain parts of their body and have gimp-like masks on and other leather like contraptions on their bodies. They wear the same inmate uniform as Danny and Leo. They also mock Danny by saying things like he can fix his brain and that the bridges in their heads are broken and are going to explode.

EDIT: I'm still trying to find a place for the topic. If anyone has a suggestion, plz let me know.

OT: The score is 6-6 with 1 more vote to win, can someone plz post a final vote, so that we can move on.

Skarface you realize most of the gangs from GTA don't stand a chance against against the Manhunt gangs, except for the hoods and the asylum staff.

You have a point, but I think this could work. IMHO they both have strengths and weaknesses. GTA gangs seem to be more well organized with better weapons and more turf. For example, the Leones vs Smileys. The Leones have a much better operation in terms of organization with better weapons and the fact that they make more money. The Smileys, while they are highly disorganized, have pure insanity and lack the morals the Leones might have. While the Leones will shoot you the Smileys might cut you up and hang your corpse in a back room as a prize, sounds crazy I know. But this insanity just might intimidate the Leones, allowing the Smileys a win. The GTA gangs are more organized, but the Manhunt gangs are more whacked out. I see what you mean, the Cereberus or Project Militia could probably take out a top notch GTA gang w/o much effort. But a lot of people still don't know much about Manhunt gangs and will base their opinion on whom they like better or whom a GTA protagonist is affiliated with, which would even the score. I know that I wrote a lot here, but I just wanted to get my point across and explain as best I could, if this does work out. It could be epic!!

Now can someone plz cast a vote?

Why the hell has the final now stopped like this?

One more vote and it's done, the previous gang war had a lots of votes coming before you could have the chance and now that's how this continues here?

And I haven't played Manhunt, but I might get it soon only to see how good it is and get my feeling with gangs. About GTA2 and GTA4 gangs I haven't seen any of them. I am strictly out on GTA3 canon.

Also why did you change your ava to that repetitive one of Little Jacob? You used to have the same ava as I have now, it fitted pretty good with you before.

As much as I hate to say it, Colombian Cartel. It's just way more organized and they have way more contacts. Surely CJ made alot of contacts in San Andreas, but the Grove doesn't benefit from that. Also Toreno won't help out the Grove in political ways or whatever, even if he's kinda in CJ's debt, but imo, I think CJ really hates that man for every danger he has put him through.

Anyway, the Grove don't have much allies. The Varrios aren't very strong and the Triads are far away. If it would really be an all out war between the Grove and the Cartel, the Cartel would win.

Well it looks like we have a winner for the tournament

Colombian Cartel

Thanks to everyone who has contributed, and filled in when I wasn't around. Most notably Flesh-n-Bone for running the tournament, and Stefan for making the chart, etc.

I will start the Ultimate Gang Wars Game either tonight or tomorrow. I'm thinking I might just set it up in the San Andreas Forums. Since this is where it all started, still not sure though, any other suggestions feel free to post them. The gangs will include all from 2, 3, VC, SA, LCS, VCS, 4, MH, and MH2. In the end, there will be one gang left as the most powerful in the R* world.

If you haven't played GTA 2 or the Manhunt games, just refer to my list of Manhunt and Manhunt 2 gangs. You will also find info on Wikipedia, or gameplay videos on gtamissions.com (GTA2), or Youtube (Manhunt). Anyone interested can participate in the voting, it should be fun. For the most part, the same voting system and rules will apply. I'm still thinking of new ideas, and will start plotting them tonight or tomorrow. As for this forum, you are all free to select matches with any 2 gangs on the list, still 4/7, or just chat about this topic or the next.

Nice one Skarface. It'll be interesting to see who people believe are the most powerful gang Rockstar have ever created.

And it was good to see people make detailed reasons for their votes this time.

I would like to see people use spoilers when mentioning information about GTA4 gangs.

And post it up here and easiest way to find the manhunt missions is to go to bonersgames.com (the same guy who runs gtamissions.com)

And in case you have a little bit of hard time to keep on track, I'll help you with all the stuff.

Make the thread called "Rockstar Gang Wars Game".

If you need any help to keep on track - hit me up via PM.

For those who don't know much about GTA 4 gangs, here is a topic in the GTA 4 section that should give you a better understanding of the criminal underworld of the new Liberty City. . I'm new to the hyperlink stuff, so just use the search engine. You could also go to Wikipedia and type in Gta Gangs, go to List of gangs in Grand Theft Auto series. May contain spoilers.

@skarface1013: Yeah, it would probably be best to start the R* Gang Wars Game in the SA forum. I wouldn't trust the IV forums anyway. Its like a hell-hole in there! Besides, I think you have a better chance of the topic staying active in the SA forums than the IV forums.

Lol, yes they have done the impossible, beat the GSF.

Well now since we have had 2 successful tournaments, we basically made every good fight we could think of, and all of these gangs will be included in the R* gang wars game, I think this is a good time to LOCK this topic, sadly. cryani.gif

Reason being, I want the attention focused on the Rockstar Gang Wars Game, there will be a ton of matches to focus on as there are well over 50 gangs. biggrin.gif

So I will take this time to say thanks to everyone for their help, contributions, and support. I'm proud of myself for founding this idea and making it a success. If you're going to lock the topic, you should ask a mod to do it because mods aren't simply going to waltz into a topic and lock. icon14.gif

By the way, skarface1013, I'd suggest that when you do make the new topic, don't start the tournament straight away. Wait for a week or so so people can get used to all the gangs, and therefore set a precedent for the tournament. And would you like me to make a table and organise the results for that tournament as well? Like Flesh-n-Bone, I'll be glad to help you out with anything and suggest any ideas. smile.gif
