99 Gta 99
So how is this game?
Kippers
It isn't a waste. I am a longtime MGS fan, MGS is definitely one of if not my favorite game franchise. To me the best way to play it is to get up early in the morning and beat it by night... no interruptions. Very satisfying. I'm not saying it isn't enjoyable, you defintiely get a greater sense of the story and what's going on if you play it seamlessly. I just think waiting years and years for a game and then completing it within 24 hours is a bit of an anticlimax. But that's more down to personal preference on getting the most fun out of a game more than anything else. 習うより慣れろ

patgrt
I'm guessing I'm really slow in this game compared to many posting here. I've been playing around 7 hours and just finished first boss fight. Taking my time to read everything and explore places + modify guns. The game is freakin' awesome!
patgrt
I live in the UAE, not likely to find it here, Arabs only seem to like new things . I'll keep an eye out though, thanks . Read the storylines from Wiki at least. It's a really epic tale, I promise!

Digïtál £vîl
I'm a big MGS fan but this game isn't enough to convince me to go out and buy a PS3. sucks. But I guess I will just have to pass for now. Most people I know bought the PS3 mainly for this game. I'm not sure why you're not if you're such a big fan. Because common sense and responsibility overruns any love for a game that I might have. I love the MGS series, but not enough to go out and spend around 500 dollars for it. Especially for just roughly around 16 hours of game play. Maybe I have just outgrown video games in a way. Same story with met, big fan of MGS and want the game but unsure whether or not to get a PS3 for it. Best thing I can really advise is look at the features of the PS3 like the Media Center features and the obvious Blu Ray and see if they appeal to you and look at the exclusives that are out of that are coming and and make your decision based on that. Also if you can try to get as much of a discount as you can, that's what I'm doing when I get mine. I'm going to wait until August and trade in a few old games and see how much I can get knocked off of the PS3. If I can get at least £75 knocked off I'll be very happy. YourNeighborhoodKiller
Holy crap! This game has received a 10 from IGN and GameSpot. Same score as GTA IV. This is the first exclusive game. To receive a 10!

That is where it gets complicated for me. I'd love a Blu Ray player. I am a big fan of the Planet Earth series and a few others. However, right now I have my computer hooked up directly to my HDTV. I have a lot of downloaded media, including at least 100Gigs or more of 720p and 1080p movies and shows. So I can already watch them in relatively good HD quality for free. Then, I also have my xbox 360 which is connected to my HDTV and also streams Windows Media Center from my laptop. So I have media that I play through that method as well (my hundreds of standard definition movies). If the PS3 played .mkv files from DVD, or even over a network, that would really boost my want for this system. As it is, right now, only MGS is interesting me for any games on the PS3 and so I really don't know what to do about that. Any other [email protected] exclusives you guys would recommend keeping an eye out for? Right now my next exclusive I am looking for is 360 based and comes out in November. GEARS OF WAR 2. Gouveia
Now I want to play it. Also, I think that IV won't be the game of the year. I own a 360, and I can say, MGS4 will win it. Only if IV's DLC is mind blowing and count towards the judges, then it will win.

As it is, right now, only MGS is interesting me for any games on the PS3 and so I really don't know what to do about that. Pretty sure you can get a program called TVersity that will allow you to do that on your PS3 or 360. I used it a few times and it was pretty good although a bit buggy. Might be worth a shot if you want that. I know I needed it because of the Anime I have on my PC. As for the Games I can't say if they're good because I don't own or haven't played them but I'm looking at Uncharted, Warhawk, MGS4, Folklore, Gran Turismo 5, Soul Caliber (Yeah I know its on both but the PS3 one gets Darth Vader)
Skyline_Mad
MGS4 is amazing, i love the cutscenes and the cinematic feel it has, the weapon system is pretty good aswel, alot easyer than going back and forth for weapons like in previous MGS games, that use to be anoying, there are many other things i like about this one, its definatly the best so far, and i've only got onto the second act. I need a little help though, i am at the bit where you are surfing Drebin's apc thing, just got to a bit with 5 of those tall robot things (was only 5 minutes ago, but still can't remember their name lol) that look like a cross between Metal Gear Rex (top) and Metal Gear Ray (legs). Otacon keeps saying to use the Machine gun, so thats what i do (M60 or something like that), but it seems they don't get damaged much, i found i had more chance with the rocket launcher, anyway i keep dying and cant seem to get past it (the real anoying thing is if they get ttoo close they keep smashing the ACP every few seconds, but Otacon told me to use the machine gun which takes ages to reload, so i get to the point where i cat shoot ), is there a specific area i need to hit on the robot? Other than that i love the game so far, Best looking game on PS3 to date, even the Anti-aliasing works great (i think it is working, unless theres something else thats stopping the jaggies), not a single jagged line, which is a first for me as i only have a 1080i HDTV, not the full 1080p. I can't wait for the Rex vs Ray part of the game, hopefuly you get to actualy control Rex (although i doubt it).
Gouveia
It did receive a 10, wow, I'm pretty amazed. I don't think I would buy the PS3 only for this game, since I didn't like MGS3 so much (but I f*cking loved MGS on the PS1), but I definetelly want to play it in any friends house that has a PS3. Skyline_Mad
Haha Skyline, you silly billy. He means the machine gun mounted on the APC! LOL, i know that now , I was gonna edit my post, hopefuly before anyone noticed lol. Anyway, i was looking around on the net for pictures trying to remember the name of the robots (GEKKO, i found out), and found a pic of them, i looked at them close up and saw some text saying "Do Not Strike This Surface" so i thought, maybe i can kill it if i focus on that point, so i went back into game (stupidly i forgot to save it and had to go back to the start of the Footprint trail thing), when i got back to that point i then noticed he actualy meant the machine gun on the APC lol. The reason i didn't think that was the weapon he meant, was because it was automated when i've seen it in the cutscenes, so i didn't even think to try it hehe. papanesta
Ouch. Going back to the start of the footprint bit must of been a draaag. I loved CQCing the soldiers that climb on top. So funny.
Dr3
I'm planning on getting MGS 4, is it too hard? This will be my first MGS since I was 14, MGS 2 seemed too difficult for me back then.
Skyline_Mad
Ouch. Going back to the start of the footprint bit must of been a draaag. I loved CQCing the soldiers that climb on top. So funny. Nah it wasn't that bad, as i knew where to go, i didn't even bother trying to follow to prints, i just went strait for the exit, but still had to kill a few FROGS. I'm now on Act 4, i havnt stopped playing all night (its 6am now), i love the idea ofgoing back to Shadow Moses, and going to the same places as in MGS1. I'm on the Crying wolf battel now, i'l continue tomoro though. I doubt i'l be able to sleep though, theres this anoying Cockrel in sum1's garden that wont stop crowing (or whatever it is they do), it started doing it yesterday, was all day it did it, now that its daylight its started again , hopefuly sum1 calls the police soon (as in the next couple of days), we are in the middle of a city, people can't be allowed to have them doing that all the time, its not like we are on a private farm, if only my BB gun still worked lol, i ant buy one anymore either (recent laws have disallowed them unless you get a see-through one, or have a skirmish license, which i dont have lol). I dont wanna close my window as its quite hot at the moment (even with it closed i could still hear it ). If i can't sleep i may go on MGS4 again, try and get to the Rex vs Ray part i can't wat to see. Also, anyone know why Akiba (Johnny), looks like a young Snake?. Creed Bratton
No idea mate. But its Johny, and hes kinda like a legend in MGS, funny legend Here is another weird thing. Now, its explained why Vamp is kinda immortal, but how the hell did he walk, stand and run on water in MGS2 That one still makes no sense Also did anyone here find the Crying Wolf story fascinating Edited June 14, 2008 by GTAvanja

Now, its explained why Vamp is kinda immortal, but how the hell did he walk, stand and run on water in MGS2 That one still makes no sense Also did anyone here find the Crying Wolf story fascinating I remember Johnny from past MGS games, i feel sorry for the diarrhoea problems his family have lol. I think Vamp being able to walk on water is his own ability, not given to him by the Nanomachines (like the rapid healing), there have been many ememies in MGS history that have special powers (fortune having her heart on the right side and having a sort shield similar to the magnetic device she used), so i think he's just one of them. Big Spoiler!! Act 4 has got to be the best for Boss battles so far As well as fighting Crying Wolf and Vamp, there was the Epic Metal Gear Battle, I didn't really think you were gonna get to control Metal Gear Rex, and fight Liquid Ocelot in Ray, thats something alot of MGS fans have wanted to do since MGS1, definitely the best battle so far, although it would have been a bit more epic if it lasted longer and went somewhere more open, would have been fun to control Ray aswel lol I'm just about to start Act 5 now, when i complete the game i'm gonna play through again and try to get the Stealth and Bandana. For Bandana you need to:Complete the game without killing anyone For Stearlth you need to:Complete the game without alerting anyone Also i may try for the Assassins Creed outfit: under 25 alerts and "Must defeat 50 enemies with CQC holds and 50 enemies with knife kill/stuns." If i alert someone and die (forcing restart at last checkpoint, does that count as an alert? if so i suppose i'l have to load the game again . Edit: I'm trying to unlock the Bandana at the moment, i tried both but its too hard, i need to fully understand the game first before trying too many things at a time lol. Playing trough a second time i decided to buy the Desert Eagle from Drebin, but there are only a few weapons available at the moment (sniper tranq, a shotgun, and one or 2 others) do i need to get further before being able to buy better guns?
