WarburtonsMediumSlice
i got the game yesterday and just completed it (now downloading the patch for MGO). i can honestly say this is tone of the best games ive ever played, might even say its better than MGS1. the graphics, story, boss battles (especially the final battle), the weapons (the drebin points system is great), hell even the Ipod is great. Only downside is the install times (you have to install a part of the game when you reach a new 'act'). Storyline is relatively easy to follow (aslong as youve played the previous games)

How long (in hours) did it take to complete for you? I'm coming back to MGS world after skipping Snake Eater. I hope having played 1&2 is enough to follow the storyline! Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
@ JamesHarris135 Geez, you've already beaten it? I couldn't stand a game that I could beat in a goddamn day, just unacceptable.
visionist
I've been playing it for around 5 hours now, and I have to say I am loving it. The production values are top notch. I'm playing on normal mode and i'm finding it very tricky so far.

GTASIX
Woah sh*t man! I bought it. Its awesome. dont look! Snake has an iPod!. I didnt know anything about that so it came as a pleasant surprise. Also Otacons computer is made by apple. And when the fat one in meryls crew sits up from sleeping he has an exclamation mark shaved into his hair and the alert noise plays. GTASIX
Is it true that it has cutscenes with 90 minutes long? I certainly hope that this isn't the case. They might well be. MGS is infamous for its lengthy cutscenes. And seeing as this is the last one and its going to tie up all loose sends of the story then there might be a 90 minutes cut scene. Edit That reminds me - what did you think of the 8 minute install? When it first said it would take 8 minutes I was like but it went really fast. The "health warning" and animated snake smoking cigarettes went well together. Edited June 12, 2008 by GTASIX

Gouveia
sh*t, THERE ARE 90 MINUTES-LONG CUTSCENES f*ck, I knew that this game would be of epic proportions. Also, I heard that there are cutscenes LONGER than 90 minutes.
Kippers
i got the game yesterday and just completed it You can do whatever you want, but what a complete waste of money that is completing a game in 1 day. Did you take any time with at all to let the game really soak in. Completely pointless. you may aswell have borrowed it off someone. As for me, i dont much care of MGS, but this one looks good. I still wont get it though becuase I've only ever played the second one once. There isnt a 90 minute cutscene The chances are it means that all the cutscenes put together equal up to 90 minutes. 習うより慣れろ

Seems a lot more logical than a cutscene being the duration of a feature-length film.
TheTank
Yeah, it would be completely stupid to put a cutscene with the length of a feature-length film There are tho' cutscenes nearly 30 minutes long...
WarburtonsMediumSlice
from playing it, i cant remmember any cutscene that lasted 90 minutes. there are some pretty long ones though, i would say the longest would be about 40 minutes
Creed Bratton
For any MGS fan out there this game alone is worth whatever the price is Its the main reason for anyone to buy a PS3 in my opinion.

To me the best way to play it is to get up early in the morning and beat it by night... no interruptions. Very satisfying.
Digïtál £vîl
I'm a big MGS fan but this game isn't enough to convince me to go out and buy a PS3. sucks. But I guess I will just have to pass for now.

Davo the Assassin
Having waited for this game for 3 years, I gotta say Im alittle frustrated... Well, I played just upto where you first meet the frogs sent to get you and Meyrl. Its just the shear amount of cutscenes that do my head in, the gameplay didn't start fully for ages. I know that is what MGS is notourious for, but I felt abit 'Come on, get on with it!'. That said... Top notch!
visionist
OK, one thing I don't like is the level design of "solid sun". The generic pseudo jungle locations are meh and smack of MGS3 Lite. And that sucks. Not epic or revolutionary at all. Also, "liquid sun" is just too short. I wonder if we return to the middle east later ingame, as I still have not seen many middle eastern cutscenes shown in the trailers.... Everything else is Pimpin. I only use a few of the weapons and the others just gather dust lol! Love the sensation when the militias clear an area and scream in joy. Also love the briefing structure and preflight safety movie-esque install screen.

Get 5.1 surround sound and a bluetooth headset and it feels like you're actually living in a movie!!! Otacon speaks into your bluetooth, how cooool! There's so many small details that have perfected it so far, while the gameplay is still similar with several enhancements, I ran away from one of the big machine things, ran to a 2nd floor building, it lifted itself up and peeked inside!!! EPIC!! I was like shiiiit! an hid behind the doorway. It's such a better feel to the game, it's more cinematic and feels less arcady kind of, like "oh I'm in a certain area with 4 guys walking around, how do I get past"....Instead it's a vibrant battlefield with sooo many paths you can traverse across it, so many options within the first hour, the barrel, a costume, stealth sneaking. Best next-gen game so far I think. It stomps all over GTA IV with ease. EDIT: My M4 is customised like a bitch, It kicks ass running an gunnin' against two armies!!! Kraxxuz
From some of the videos and reviews I've seen, I'm quite impressed with MGS 4. One thing though, I haven't played nor have any idea about previous MGS titles, will this game make any sort of sense to me? I know of course I'll miss some bits, that's a given. But will the overall story not have me completely lost?
Canofceleri
There's a new 30 dollar boxset of MGS1, 2, and 3 available now. Buy that and play it all through and then play 4. If you're unemployed play it straight through nonstop.
