1ManArmy
Hey guys, I just got an early Christmas present and I got Metal Gear Solid 4. I haven't tried online yet as I just got it like 3 hours+ ago but i've got a problem. I'm current at Advent Palace. Before this I was allies with the militia so it made the mission alot easier especially since I got their militia camo from the previous level. Anyway I accidentally killed 3 of them mistaking them for pmc troops and now both sides are on my ass. I killed some pmc troops but the militia doesn't seem to want to ally me anymore. Is it possible to be allies with them again even though I killed a few of them by accident? Also, MGS4 ROCKS!!!!!
GTASIX
Its been a while since I played mgs 4 and I was playing yesterday and Im stuck. GTA_Don
Ah, act 3. First thing you should do is change your camouflage to Octocamo and the Octomask and take the scanner thing out and wait for a while. After Otacon finishes talking about the location etc. just keep on going forward and you should see a guy with a coat. Follow him but make sure he doesn't see or hear you. Keep on following him. Good luck, Snake.
dragonrock
No one minds if I dig this up from a couple weeks ago? Nah. I would of caused more conflict if I started a new topic. Did anyone else see this game as more of a rent? The graphics were good and all, but I couldn't even finish the game. I was bored out of my mind by the last act and the Online was so hard to sign up for and gave me so many problems. Wasn't worth it. Sucked. I tried really hard to like it as I did the previous Metal Gears.

I'm just glad I sold it for 20 quid.
Creed Bratton
If you're not a hardcore fan then you will hardly like the game to play it more then once. I finished it 3-4 or 5 times, and I sold my PS3 (for more then I bought it to an idiot obviously. And it was a 40Gb one). But I didn't sell the game. Still, no matter how awesome MGS4 is, MGS3 will always be my favorite game. It's based on stealth more then previous MGS games, and more then MGS4. And the weapons are just awesome. I like older weapons more then these modern ones. Also, it's harder then MGS4.
TMR2007
First time ever I actually regret choosing to get a 360 lol. Its a real shame that its a PS3 exclusive, but it wouldnt seem plausible to have it on the 360 as i dont believe it has sufficient power and the HDDVD's mean it would probably have about 5 discs+. Going to try get and PS3 once i get a bit more money, as I'm really eager to play this, after recently replaying Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater, and finding myself very into the storyline once again. I've played part of the first level and was blown away at this game, but that just leaves me wishing I could play the whole thing lol.

MGS4 takes up a whole 50GB dual layer blu-ray disc. I've started to play this game again, it's pretty f*cking cool but I never played any of the other games so I have no idea what they are talking about in the cutscenes....all I know is old snake a badass. Clint Eastwood could totally play him with his voice in Gran Torino. I would attempt to tell you but it would probably take me a few hours, as the games history goes as far back to 1964 in Metal Gear Solid 3. There is usually an option on the main menu to go to a "Special" area or something similar, where it describes the plot of the previous game - or thats what was in Metal Gear Solid 2 (not 3 as that was - chronologically - the first one), but I imagine if there were one in Metal Gear Solid it would give a brief overview of everything thats happened previously. Also I thought the DVDs used with the Xbox 360 only held 8GB, but I imagine you're correct, as it seems more logical. ---- EDIT: Beavis, I know how you feel mate - the prospect is one of the main reason I want to get the game. Can anyone tell me how much of Shadow Moses is available compared to the original setting?
beavis
The 360 can only read regular DVD's and CD's. There are three types. Single Sided Single Layer (4.7 Gigs), Single sided Doubled Layer (8.5 Gigs) and Double Sided Double Layer (17.08 Gigs) which according to wikipedia are rare to begin with. T hey were suppose to release the HDDVD add on, but was discontinued for obvious reason. Shadow Moses is now an abandoned complex. When you walk around the deserted compound, you get flash backs from Metal Gear Solid. And as far as I know, most of the complex is available, but I didn't play the game that much to begin with (I beat it and that was it).

Are there any easter-egg-type references, maybe Vulcan Raven's gun in the permafrost area, his tank in the Canyon area - anything like that? beavis
I didn't play the game to find all the little secrets to be frank with you. I was just rushing through the game trying to beat it, but I'm sure there are a whole bunch of easter eggs during the shadow moses mission. Actually, before you start the mission, you flashback to the original MGS and you play the level where you have to sneak into the complex. Great because it keeps the original PSX graphics. Creed Bratton
^ 80gb version with Resistance 2 is 450 euros in my country. I sold my 40gb for 600 euros to an idiot and I plan on getting one of those 80gb. You might wanna consider it yourself. PS : Consoles are like 20% more expensive in my country then anywhere else so you might be able to get it even cheaper. I bet all of you MGS fans were like WOWOWOWOWOW when you saw the last name during the credits. And then the cutscene. asimov
My first play through was on Solid Normal and it was pretty easy. I'm trying it on Boss Hard now and it's a big step up. On normal you can pretty much run and gun your way through the place but hard makes it practically impossible, this could take me a while... Easy. MGS3 - Naked Snake establishes himself as a sucessor to the USA Army's 'Mother', The Boss. Given title 'The Boss', he is one of the few people to establish the patriots. -In between MGS3 and MGS1, Big Boss severes all ties with The Patriots, and is cloned, resulting in the three brothers: Solid, Liquid and Solidus. MGS1 - Solid Snake defeats Liquid, Revolver Ocelot takes over. The bad guy side. -In between MGS1 and MGS2, Revolver Ocelot releases the Metal Gear Plans in the internet. Metal Gear prototypes go worldwide. MGS2 - Revolver Ocelot is 'possessed' by Liquid Snake. Subsequently becomes 'Liquid Ocelot'. Solidus is killed by Raiden, an experiment of the patriots. MGS4 I don't have any more time left.
TMR2007
Yeah, thats the basics, but there more info that could be useful in relation to MGS4, for example: RAIDEN After MGS2, Raiden went on to work with Paradise Lost and attempted to capture the body of Big Boss from the Patriots but he was captured, during his time as a prisoner he was used as a test subject for experiments in exoskeletal enhancement surgery, during which he had his body and part of his head removed. (This is similar to how Frank Jaeger (a.k.a Grey Fox) was turned into the first Cyborg Ninja from MGS1, except he was found at Zanzibar Land in pieces after being blown up by a landmind and was taken to Dr.Clark (Paramedic from MGS3) at FOXHOUND and experimented on). EVA a.k.a BIG MAMA After MGS3, where she turns out to be a spy for the Chinese Liberation Army, she took the philosophers legacy back which turned out to be a fake, instigated by Ocelot who was really the ADAM who defected a few years prior to the events of MGS3 - this cost EVA her job at the PLA, and in 1968 she dissapeared from Hanoi in the midst of the Vietnam War. 3 years later she was rescued by Big Boss and became a founding member of The Patriots. In 1972 she acted as the surrogate mother in Les Enfant Terribles project for Snake and Liquid (Solidus was born later, most likely just for use in MGS2, so it is unknown whether she was also the surrogate mother for him) and saw Solid Snake as her son. In 2014, at the age of 78, she was the leader of Paridise Lost, the group Raiden worked with - this was the basis for her involvement in MGS4, which I won't add because I don't want to spoil the game for you, plus I haven't even played it yet so I don't want to ruin it for myself haha. SOLID SNAKE a.k.a OLD SNAKE After the events of MGS2, he went into hiding where his body began rapid cell acceleration leading to his elderly appearence, despite this being on 5 years after MGS2. He then resurfaced in 2014, where he and Otacon took part in the overall mission to assassinate "Liquid Ocelot". LIQUID OCELOT Ocelot, having recieved the arm of Liquid Snake in Lyon, France, after Gret Fox cut it off in MGS1, was now under the influence of Liquid Snake's "spirit". The five largest PMCs were run by a "mother company" which Liquid Ocelot had set up, known as "Outer Heaven", this was based off Big Boss' original dream of a soldier nation, which was shown in the 'Metal Gear' games on DOS, before the 'Metal Gear Solid' series. I believe Outer Heaven was based within the Arsenal Gear which was salvaged after it crashed into Manhattan, New York, at the of MGS2. Again, I won't add anymore information because I don't want to spoil the game for you, plus I haven't played it yet so I don't want to ruin it for myself. The information is a mix of my own knowledge, plus information from a website - although I haven't copied and pasted it, and I can add some more if someone wants. asimov
I sort of get the storyline, I'd say it would be best to play the other three games to get it properly, but since I'd get no nostalgia buzz from playing them it'd probably be crap. Anyone managed to get through the game on BBE? I am 100% sure I could do it now, just not under 5 hours. I take my sweet ass time exploring and waiting around. I understand where you're coming from, but the only problem would be Metal Gear Solid 1 on PS1 as it has quite primitive graphics, however on Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 on the PS2 theres no such problem be they both have really great graphics considering its the PS2, so you probably wouldnt find them boring. As for completing it on BBE, I've seen some people do it in about 3hrs 20sec, but I don't really see how as it took my cousin 15 hrs or something lol. CaptainKon
i really wish i could play this game but i chose the xbox 360 because i figured it would be multiplatform anyway but it turns out i was wrong. What i'm asking is will it be possible for MGS to be multiplatform? Can the Xbox 360 handle it? Because i've heard many things about it being impossible, then possible, then Konami "actively looking into it" from what you guys know, is it possible? if so, what is the possibility of it being ported? thank you. I'm not sure how the Xbox would go running it, considering the way the PS3 must be coded a port might be difficult to do. The Xbox could certainly run a game with similar spec requirements though. I don't see them saying this, and then disappointing alot of people by not releasing a patch for it. Also, they might remove the Konami ID. Yay.
