After playing this yesterday, I might sell my 360 and get a PS3. Im not sure though as 360 has more and better games, but PS3 has MGS4! I only got up to the second act, when I saw Vamp, I couldnt believe it! Also, Ive watched the fight between Ocelot and Snake on that tall thing on Youtube, its so epic. But seeing as im most likely not going to get a PS3, can someone PM me or post here in spoilers what happens (in detail) like does Liquid die? What happens to Meryl? And Campbell? Most importantly, Snake?

After the fist fight with Liquid, you eventually beat him to death there. Meryl marries Johnny. Campbell starts to have a better relationship with his daughter Meryl. Meryl is his daughter right? Big Boss comes out from the graves and has a talk with Snake. But eventually dies on a grave. Which is The Boss' I believe. Same place where MGS3 ends and he salutes. Snake lives, but according to him, he's going to die in no time. So, he's just going to live life as much as he can.

Pretty much everything YourNeighborhoodKiller said. The game is pretty epic and deserves GoTY. I honestly haven't had this much fun with a game since Chrono Trigger and Shenmue.

BTW YourNeighborhoodKiller, you play MGO? We should play a couple of games.

It's going to win it, believe me. It sold more systems, just PS3 to be exact, then GTA IV for PS3 or 360. And MGS4, was only for one system.

As a matter of fact, I do now. I just started not an hour ago. I'm trying to get used to it since playing GTA IV MP a lot. Hook me up some time, Y-N-K.

Can someone help me out with the mission where Raiden and Vamp are fighting on top of REX and Snake has to keep the Suicide GEKKO back?

How did you guys do it?

charge the rail gun to max you'll hear a noise when its ready it kills the suicide gekko in one shot

2 new codes

Snake Altair=aottrykmyn

Type 17 pistol=jmsotsynrn

i won't be using either of these codes i want to get them by unlocking the emblems needed to get them

finally got the emblems for no-alert game and no health items used getting into outer haven was annoying i got spotted 20 times and kept having to reload on the 21st try i was outside the door trying to figure out how to get past 2 gekko when a missile came out of nowhere and killed 1 gekko.

has this happened to anyone else?

has anyone seen the scarabs that follow old snake in act 3

Haha, that scarab thing is pretty funny I have to say.

As for the Gekkos on the Outer Haven bit. Yeah I have had a Gekko die after getting blown up by the USS Indianapolis. It was a surprise but I wasn't complaining, one less enemy to deal with.

This is my first post in this topic and I have to say this game is pretty epic. I was literally shouting at my TV as I hammered the triangle button at the end as Snake made his way down the corridor It was a great ending to a great series of games.

man i finally beat it, i took 20 days off from the game and i beat it...the end cutscenes were killer almost an hour, that was probably the only thing that pissed me off about the game was the last part. It took me like 28 hours to beat it, i was like the fat guy trying to be stealthy but always got caught. It was a pretty amazing game IMO and now maybe i'll give online a try or just take another run through. colgate.gif

that triangle bashing scene was great but sore on the fingers i only died once doing that had to reload i was going for a no continue game

I bought and tried out the Tanegashima the militia got caught up in the tornado and turned against me had to reload the militia wouldn't stop shooting me and it made getting anywhere difficult

I still prefer MGS1 but I can see why you are blown away by MGS4. Anyway, Kojima is "still thinking" about MGS, nobody has confirmed anything yet about a sequel. Hope he "restarts" the series like they did with Batman or the James Bond movies. The whole "snake saga" really needs to get buried for the sake of saving the franchise for the future...that's the only way how Snake can become a true videogame legend.

I almost cried in the end when I thought Snake killed himself and I did shed a few tears later when Big Boss died. With that glorious music in the background. And I never cry. I though something is wrong with me...

Really an epic experience.

Kojima said right after MGS2, he'd be done. Then said the same thing again with MGS3, and then again with MGS4.

There is a pattern. lol

I read that there IS going to be a 5th Metal Gear Solid, but it won't be about Snake.

They said "his time has ended" blah blah, but they've been talking about a 5th. I'll find the link if I can.

Get to the top floor of the building. She'll appear pretty soon if you shoot some of her "sidekicks" in the process (that'll make her outRAAAAAAGEous...). Shoot the crap out of her (powerful weapons, don't bother the sniper, you won't need it), but be careful, she'll fire grenades at you (you'll figure the pattern after a few tries). That's pretty much it.

And yeah, she's a bitch...a damn annoying one!

Some tips for getting the big boss emblem

1

Before attempting to get the big boss emblem play through the game enough times to get a decent amount of chaff grenades they will come in useful against the annoying scarabs particularly in the blast furnace and the room behind the blast furnace (chaff grenades are in annoyingly short supply and they don't have an effect on the gekko)

2

To save time when fighting the beasts except for wolf use a fully charged rail gun

it kills them in 2 shots but doesn't count as a kill raven will take a bit longer.

3

Use the mosin nagant on wolf using the rail gun is risky with all the haven troopers around using the rail gun can trigger an alert and you could accidentally kill a raven trooper.

4

Skip every cutscene and codec chat

5

Don't bother using the rail gun on outer haven it always triggers an alert.

6

When fighting screaming mantis you only have to get her mantis doll from her before you can finish the fight

7

always save upon entering a new area that way you can reload if you are discovered or if you accidentally kill someone

8

Killing scarabs, gekkos and the flying things in act 3 is ok they aren't human and don't count as a kill

9

If you think that the crying wolf boss fight is going on for too long reload same goes for the raging raven boss fight these 2 boss fights can sometimes go on for a while

10

When you are following naomi's trail in act 2 use the map in the guide it cuts time spent wandering around from 40 minutes to 10 or 12 minutes

11

If an alert is triggered in the MGS1 dream at the start of act 4 don't panic it doesn't get added to number of alerts on the stats screen

Some of you probably already know this stuff i thought i would share it in case it was useful to another member trying to get the big boss emblem

This tip has nothing to do with getting the big boss emblem

Don't let the militia see you using the solar gun on militia members they will treat you as an enemy if you do that

new codes

Enter skynytktjp and get Mk.II scanning plug. Enter mgo2play and get SUBSISTENCE ACTION for the in-game iPod.

some useful tips from various topics at gamefaqs

MK.2 ammo

-Follow the Resistance member until he reaches a flight of stairs. In the gap between the building and stairs is tranq ammo for the MK.2.

Note: While not having to do with nonlethal ammo I thought this might interest anyone going for the Big Boss Emblem. At the beginning of Act 3 when have to follow the resistance member just fooling around I went up the set of stairs you pass in Midtown S Sector, the very first area. I followed the path and jumped down where the ladder is and casually made my way back, coming from the direction the resistance should be going in, to the corner where the resistance member should be. To my surprise the resistance member had climbed the same set of stairs I took and proceded to go directly to exit of the area totally skipping the park and everything in the middle. You can try this to see if it works for you it might shave off a few minutes especially if you use a certain face camo. If it does you can still get the MK.2 ammo in the park since the resistance member will just wait at the exit for you.

My second tip is for when you follow the resistance member in Act 3. I found running ahead using the ramp to the left of the road gives you a great vantage point to knock out the first 2 PMC soldiers. From there jump down the ladder, knock out the PMC in front of you and drag the bodies out of the Resistance members path, he will then continue much faster instead of having the ? pop over his head when he spots each body on the ground. From there run into the park and tranq the next 2 PMC soldiers. I did not have time to hide the bodies before the resistance member caught up so I kept going. You only need him to be in front of you when you leave an area and load another, after that you can stay a bit ahead of him. After that when he changes uniforms go into the area he changed in and hop onto the crates, knock out the 2 PMC you see down the street and do a running roll over the wall. After that take a left and then peer down the next ally on your right side. Knock out the 3 PMC standing around and wait for the resistance member. This is a good time to equip your Octo Camo suit/face camo since you have to contend with motorized patrols. I lucked out since I knocked out some PMC soldiers in the middle of the road. Blocked the vehicle so it stopped for a while. The humvee still came around after it showed the resistance guy change again so that is why I suggest the octo camo and crawling.

Next is an over all boss killing strategy that most people already know. Aside from the Mantis boss fight you can use the rail gun to kill the first boss form for the B.B. core in 2 hits. This does not add a kill and saves a LOT of time fighting them. Once they are in their human form you pull out the Pump shotgun with V. Ring tranq rounds loaded and blast them in the head 3 times. Aim and wait for them to stop side-stepping around your aim and land 3 well placed headshots with the pump. Voila, dead bosses in 2 minutes. That of course depends on if you can tranq the Frogs around Crying Wolf fast enough, because you set off an alert if they have a direct line of sight on you when you fire the rail gun. So keep the solid eye on and check the area around you before you reap the whirlwind on her.

I was reading this interesting topic at gametrailers called act 4 we want mooaarr some people were on about what they would have liked to see in act 4

http://forums.gametrailers.com/showthread.php?t=522105 (http://forums.gametrailers.com/showthread.php?t=522105) (http://forums.gametrailers.com/showthread.php?t=522105)

I would have made all of shadow moses available so snake could go to the following places

The torture room the darpa chief's body would still be there

The bathroom where snake met meryl

The place where meryl was shot by sniper wolf

The roof of the communications tower where snake fought liquid's helicopter

The control room in the underground base where rex was stored

The dock where MGS1 started

The room where snake fought ocelot

The cells where meryl and the fake darpa chief were being held prisoner

I would put flashbacks in every one of the above

The armoury below the tank hangar snake could have gotten some of the MGS1 weapons famas nikita

I would have included 1 genome guard as an easter egg he could still be looking for that intruder

In otacon's lab in MGS1 there was a PS1 in the middle of the room for MGS4 i would have put a PS3 there

I would have dropped rosemary as a codec contact and replaced her with sunny saving data and drebin talking

about weapons

I would have included 2 extra x scenes in the place where you fight vamp

1 would be when snake approaches rex he gets a flashback to the ninja being crushed by liquid

2 would be an x scene when vamp falls off rex's head like liquid did 9 years earlier

I would have all the cubicle doors in otacon's lab open with no power snake should have been able to open them

I would liked to have seen some gekkos equipped with stealth camoflauge could have been a boss fight thermal goggles feature on the solideye seems odd that there was no thermal goggles in MGS4 the demo theater boss survival and casting theater from MGS2

I would drop the shooting range from MGS4 there doesn't seem to be a reason for it being there unless you get something for shooting a certain amount of bad guys

MGS4 is just the best game ever. I really loved the MGS series because there isn't a minger in the range. Just pure, thrilling tactical espionage action. =)

I never get tired of this game, maybe because It's just too much of what I love, and It's only one of the two games I have on the PS3. The other being Grand Theft Auto IV. =)

I still don't get why anyone would even think about typing that.

Anyways, I got some news for you guys. Well, just pretty much confirming MGS5.

Ryan Payton Leaves Kojima Productions

Anybody who is a big fan of anything Kojima Productions such as the games (obviously MGS4) all the way down to the podcasts and in particular a couple of the staff wil be sad to hear that Ryan Payton has left Kojima Productions.

Payton, who was a major part of the Western release of Metal Gear Solid 4 along with being a very crucial part of development in Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, announced to Kotaku that he left KP due to personal reasons stating that some heavy news to his mum was the reason he left.

I went back home to my family’s place in Washington state and literally three weeks after MGS4 launched we were hit with some pretty heavy news concerning my mom. I don’t think I need to go into details, but all of this has reminded me about how important family is. So this past month I decided to leave Kojima Productions and look to continue my career working closer to my family in North America.

But before he left, in that interview, he did give one last golden nugget.

In it, he mentioned Metal Gear Solid 5 stating:

It’ll be hard not being involved in MGS5, but I’ve got the utmost confidence that Hideo Kojima, Ken Imaizumi, and our amazing team will put together another blockbuster game. I’ll be cheering from the sidelines.

So that pretty much confirms the existence of MGS5.

He is now back in the ‘States now to work for another gaming developer closer to home. Like Kotaku said in their interview, it’s KP’s loss but whoever gets him has got a very big gain.

GOONL!NE would ike to wish Ryan and his family all the best in the world and we do hope you’ll be back helping to make more great games soon.

Well, at least we know that MGS5 is going to be released. I still can't get past Act 3 btw, I don't know what to do. I'm playing on Big Boss Extreme difficulty but it's just too hard to past the PMCs and those other things that you see in Act 2 before the Raging Raven boss fight. I've tried using the MP4 (I think) whilst on the bike with Eva, the Bizon and the XM25 but it's always death by PMC. I don't have any rations or any recovery things sadly, wasted them all. Guess I could start over, but that's like the last resort. If I uploaded my savegame, would any of you be able to complete that bit for me? I've tried sooo many f*cking times.

Not true, I destroyed the Gekko guarding the door with the railgun, without triggering an alert. It made getting past that part far easier, not to mention faster.

Alright guys, I played some MGS4 again today, and I'm finally starting to love it.

Thank God. But, I was back at the beginning after meeting Drebin, and I went to help the militia in a battle...I threw a grenade and sort of killed one and then got about 5 simultaneous alerts from the miltia guys. Haha.

After beating the game several times I felt the urge of replaying MGS3 because that whole Big Boss appearance in the end reminded me of good old MGS3 days. And Big Boss is one bad-ass character in MGS3

The fight between Liquid and Snake was possibly the best way EVER to finish off the Snake saga of MGS games. Just an excellent way to conclude the entire series. f*cking loved this game biggrin.gif

One annoying thing, to get the Snake Eater theme tune you have to get all 40 emblems, and I think by that time I wouldnt want to play again tounge.gif Also why isnt the MGS2 theme on the iPod mad.gif and why cant you put your own music on there? Oh well apart from those 2 things, f*cking excellent.
