BCspeed34
Yeah getting the engine (when I was planning a car purchase) was going to be my first priority, but since I am still in high school I live with the parents and I doubt they would be inclined to pay my insurance with a 276hp engine in the thing Since I do all this work around the house, it's their way of an allowance I guess. Oh well, I like it. Another reason I am going this way is my money situation. Right now I have nearly enough for this conversion, even without a job. For me its nearly impossible to save for things with other items on my mind. So with this out of the way, all the funds (when I pick up a job) can go to the engine. Well that enough discussion about that I should have a new update on Saturday, my MOMO EVO steering wheel should be arriving Friday. ________________________________________ 専車SODO-MOTO International Vehicle Importers

streetfire
I outsmoked a 1974 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with my 52 split VW once. The guy wanted to trade his ride over mine. Please don't start the whole 'rice vs. muscle' argument again. We all know that 1974 muscle cars were pitifully slow because of regulations, no point of talking big unless you actually smoked a 1968-ish muscle car. Anyway, ricers suck ass. Makotronic
my volks is not a ricer at all. It's just a "messed up" ride. I'll post pics of the volks, but I'm not going to hijack BCSpeed's topic. Whenever I feel like making a topic for the car I will. hehe
lurchseesu420
@ Makotronic - There's already a topic for posting pics of your vehicle. Although if you wanted to start an official air cooled vehicle topic (VW, Porsche, Corvair, etc.), that'd be cool (hell, STM started a topic just for the Fiat Multipla, so why not). @ Streetfire - I wouldn't call anything that was designed in the early 30's "rice." Especially a 52 split window bug. Back on topic - What kind of performance mods is the Mirage going to get? Buying parts off of a totaled GSX doesn't sound like a bad idea. BCspeed34
Yes back on topic. The only modifications I have on my mind now are an exhaust system, silenced of course. Apart from that nothing else until I save up enough for a 4g63t conversion, the engine from the real EVO. But I got the steering wheel in today, was much easier than anticipated! Up next? Tires. Then lights and hood. I already ordered the lights. ________________________________________ 専車SODO-MOTO International Vehicle Importers
lurchseesu420
I'd gut out the interior, RS style. Just looking at that shot of the interior made me realize how much weight could be lost if you did just that. We all know that the easiest way to make a car quicker is to take all the useless, unneeded sh*t out. And if you're making an Evo replica, why not make it an RS? BCspeed34
Yeah gutting the interior of the tan is also another prioroty. I'm thinking of checking out some local junkyards, maybe I can find some parts from the EVO 8 interior that I can fit in there. ________________________________________ 専車SODO-MOTO International Vehicle Importers

The 60's called, they want this guy back. Family business? Must suck to know a $4500 93 GSX with about two paychecks invested could shove a bucket of sh*t down your (insert boring muscle car)'s throat, on your own playing field, the straight line. Or supra... ....or rx-7. Or skyline, or 300zx.... er I'll stop now. Or rather, the guy with the daily driven 12 second 6 cylinder car that's actually practical will stop now. Mess with better topics, get the horns. @BCSpeed, after reading this guy's posts, I sincerely hope you stick with this car and update us. I've realized why I care more about this generation of cars. If it's AWD, they'll say it won because it's AWD. If it's RWD, they say it won because it's turbo, if it's N/A, they'll say it won because it's expensive & not worth the value. Sore losers if there ever were any. Man up and admit the muscle days were memories. Please don't start the whole 'rice vs. muscle' argument again. Heed your own advice, hick. But it's cute you thought there was any "argument". Edited March 13, 2008 by Tuff Luv Capo
kevin2006rhs
just stay away from the exposed intercooler look, that is just plain rice... Just stay away from your sister, thats just plain incest. Kevin gives thumbs up. Kick them while they're down, thats the way I roll. -------------------- On topic - We have two trashed Evos here at a local junkyard. One was wrapped around a tree and the other was smashed from the rear by a semi. The tree hitter has a decent ammount of salvage interior and the semi hit is about the same. Honestly, it looks like the guy saw his crushed rear end, stripped the motor and clip out, and left the body and interior (minus the pancaked/smashed trunk) to the scrapheap. If you are willing to drive, its at Capo's Salvage on I65 in New Brighton, PA. - 3000mi tease Edited March 13, 2008 by kevin2006rhs
Picolini
Seriously. I highly dislike the whole "way too low to be functional" look, extreme body kits, goofy ass metallic paint jobs, etc etc, that can be found on a ricer, but somethings just look nice. What's wrong with an exposed intercooler? More mechanicals showing, the better. Just take an Ariel Atom for example, lol. Still, can't get too much of Johnny the Ricer. I don't know about Kevin, but myself and TLC both drive high performance Nissans, so I'm not sure why a Ford with a f*cked radiator rammed in the front is going to be something we'd care much about. And also, you need to figure out what rice actually means, because you retarded bogan V8 pullers seem to have the definition wrong.
kevin2006rhs
Notice this: A muscle car, some may argue, with a huge, almost beyond "ricer" style, intercooler. Sexy intercooler..."rice" style: -Slash...I had a high performance Nissan. It may not be in the sense that you think, seeing as it was a Nissan Titan. But it was fast and tough. Accidentally drove off of a 4 foot ridge once going about 45mph through a field. buried the front end in the grass pretty good. Just ripped the nismo sticker off of my skidplate...thank god. streetfire
Notice this: A muscle car, some may argue, with a huge, almost beyond "ricer" style, intercooler. Hidden behind a nice thick mesh grill, I might add. Thing is, around Australia, there are heaps of ricers who hack part of their front bumpers off, just so you can see more of their "fUllY s!cK yO!!" intercooler. Among the worst offenders are: - Honda Civics - Lancers with unpainted EVO 5 kits tacked on - Holden VL Turbos (a Commodore with a rice engine) - Nissan Skylines (don't ya see them everywhere??) I want a shot of that GTO's engine bay, it may actually be making some serious torque there. Another thing: Anything made after 1978 isn't a muscle car... Must suck to know a $4500 93 GSX with about two paychecks invested could shove a bucket of sh*t down your (insert boring muscle car)'s throat, on your own playing field, the straight line. Or supra...And you, sir, are full of bull$hit. Not to mention that you're a teenager with a 350Z, your opinion is so unbiased. Muscle car? That was a standard Chevy truck against a highly modified supra. A couple of paychecks? George Bush needs two of his paychecks to pay for the modifications done to that Supra. kevin2006rhs
How about this for the muscle car pride beating: Yeah...so far this conversation has gone like so: Minivan>"Rice">"Muscle Cars" Now in all seriousness...TLC does have a point that has been stated to you on countless occasions. Stock, modern day "jap crap"/"rice" can blow the doors off "muscle cars" of the past, even putting aside the argument of what a "muscle car" truly is. When I can take a stock Impreza WRX, pit it against a, lets say stock 1967 Mustang or stock 1969 Camaro and crush it, why even bother arguing. Sure we can say "But like OMG, the 427ci, the 429ci, the 454ci motor...with that it would leave them in the dust0rz!!!"...but those were rare motors and, well, would defeat the arguement of stock vs. stock. Now if someone hands me a '69 camaro and a '05 WRX, drop 10 grand into each, the WRX will be the better vehicle. You cant argue that, its common logic. Peoples needs changed as did technology as time gave way to a 40 year progression. Sure, you can stereotype everyone with a Jap/Korean car as "ricer" or a classic American/Aussie muscle car owner as a "hick" or "bogan" or whatever...but that wont change the fact that yes, as much as you hate to admit it, some cars are easier to drive, tune, and race than others. Cars today have to be good at everything and great all around. Cars of the past just didnt need to have the high standards or refinement to meet the needs of the customer's in this generation of car buyers. Why do you think you see so many people using their "rice burners" as daily drivers rather than 1960s and 70s glory cars? Your arguement is about as valid as saying a 1970s NFL Hall of Fame football player is just as good as a modern day Olympic Penta/Decathlon Champion. Sure, the football player was great, will always be remembered for that, and may still be a strong guy, but he will never amount to the pentathlete or decathlete. BTW...about the only true thing your TLC insult was that he was a teenager and he owned a 350Z. I am pretty sure the guy picked the 350Z over a "muscle car" for a logical reason(one others and I have probably stated to you many many times). Besides, he doesnt live too far from me, and if his surrounding society is anything like mine, there are plenty of drag racing, NASCAR loving, muscle car owners that have influenced his choices of car admiration and ownership. Its not biased when its logical. Edited March 14, 2008 by kevin2006rhs
