So far I'm on the part where you and Delta fall into the giant Riftworm. Just turned it off now to get some homework done, but seriously buzzed to carry on with the campaign and have a go at Horde and online.

It pretty much is the same, a side from some minor weapon tweaks and of course new maps+modes.

 

But hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

 

Tried Horde out, never got past Level 7, but I didn't have my headset on so I couldn't really try and coordinate anything. Saw some guy with a Gold Plater Lancer though and my god did it look ugly. The whole damn thing is gold.

But anyway i got the Limited edition which has the gold lancer code, but I'd like to say i think it's annoying that you have to go to a Midnight Madness event to get a gold hammerburst, since that's going to be annoying me every time i see someone with one I think the limited edition should have came with the codes for both guns in gold. Or they could of at leats made the gold hammerburst unlockable for doing something really difficult.

 

I wish i could trade some of my xbox live gold time codes for a gold hammerburst code, but since i won't have a working xbox 360 for at least 2 weeks i know someone could easily just trade the code to someone else aswell, thus voiding it for me.

well, i bought this game, too. i really like it so far. i've only played Horde mode with a couple friends. i've never played the first Gears, so i was kinda disoriented at first, but i'm getting there. right now,i officially suck. the only real mode i played was Horde mode with a couple friends. we made it to level 20 or 22, it's really tough, but it makes you want to keep trying.

i'm looking forward to playing all the different modes. there are plenty to choose from. My friend loves Execution mode, but i'm not ready for that, yet.

i'll pop it in for the second time in about an hour. i wanna try the campaign mode. looks fun.

Went to Tesco, but they didn't have the Limited Special Edition. So, got home, and ordered it from them online. Hoping by the time it's arrived I've done enough work so that I can feel guilt free taking some time off to play it...

Well if you're that tight, then don't buy anything. If you can squeeze out the money for this game, do it. I haven't even gotten to multiplayer yet (just almost finished campaign) and am highly anticipating clearing insane with 3 other friends, and spending a bunch of nights online.

 

This game is awesome. I'm so pleased I chose this over CoD5 despite it not being out yet..

Just wondering if I can afford to take the time off Uni work...

I started about 1pm, and played pretty much non-stop on Normal difficulty until 11pm where upon I finished it. So, you do the math, that's a solid 10 hours of gameplay there, would take a lot longer on Insane (Which of course, you only unlock after your first playthrough). Depending on your partner, you could probably shave about half an hour tops off. Not to mention I missed over half of the collectibles.

 

Digital Murders: The Campaign and Horde is some of the best I've seen in the industry, but it still seems like Multiplayer needs a bit of patching. I'd definately reccommend getting it.

 

I'm just wondering though, how will Gears 3 top Gears 2? I mean, you ride a freaking Reaver and Brumak, it doesn't get much more badass than that.

As someone who is not good at these type of games, I will say that Horde is a lot of fun, because while it is still multi-player (and not campaign) it's co-op and everyone's on the same team.

I've completed the campaign on Hardcore, it was awesome. Cliffy B was right, its bigger, better and more badass in every way.

 

All the weapons have been improved, I LOVE the new sniper, its good they took out the active 1 hit down with it aswell.

 

I also love the weapon specific executions if you hit Y, especially the sledgehammer blow with the sniper.

 

And yeah Im having trouble joining matches, but I mostly play Privates anyway. Horde is awesome too.

 

Two bad things: Smoke grenades are whored to death, especially on Annex, they just throw it in, blasts you over and finish you off.

 

Chainsaw: I went into a match and EVERYONE used the chainsaw. Nothing else, and its harder to stop them. Sometimes my bullets dont do anything.

 

Overall superb though.

Gotta agree with you on that, you go toe to toe with him but he dies because you killed the creature he was riding?

 

My story prediction for Gears 3...

 

Adam Fenix is still alive, some some correlation to the Locust Queen, possibly all three are linked (Queen could be Mother?). Marcus has to choose whether to finish the war or be with his dad. Some other mumbo jumbo involving Cole/Baird/Dom.

 

What's your MP weapon of choice guys, Hammerburst or Lancer?

Lancer all the way. Don't like the Hammerbusrt at all, I never see anyone using it online either.

 

I thought Skorge was a vagina compared to RAAM. His death was pretty pathetic.

Myself and a friend (Ludo on GTAF) cleared it last night on co-op. What a f*ckin epic game, it seriously had everything I have ever wanted I a shooter/action game.

 

I do agree with he general consensus of Skorge being a complete pussy compared to General Raam. Oh well, it's a fantastic game which I would recommend to everyone. Anyway, Live awaits me.

 

@Hammerburst: Why all the a hate? I think it's an awesome weapon and chose it over the Lancer the majority of the time throughout the game.

I do have to agree, especially at the end when you're coated in it, and Baird is saying "I'm coughing up blood that aint even mine"

 

Also @Blackadder: I'd have to pick the Lancer, just for the sole fact that everyone chainsaws, and its harder to stop it now.

Has anybody heard anything about the game invites for Gears 2, apparently if you have people on your friends list playing Gears 2 then the game will automatically send out invites, sort of like spamming.

 

Every time i switch my 360 off and then look at my profile via Xbox.com i always get a game invite message eve though i wasn't actually playing.

The highest I've gotten on Horde is 28. I was AFK for most of the final round, and when I came back it was just me and some other guy. But, like Blackadder., my mic's gone completely flat and I couldn't really plan anything.

 

I like the Hammerburst offline, in campaign, but online, Lancer all the way.

Got to Level 50 earlier. Even on Casual it got f*cking hard. We just hid in small places using the shields the big guys dropped for cover and blocking them from getting to us. Took like 5+ hours.

 

But f*ck me, the online has gone backwards from the first I think. It takes like 5 minutes to join a game now. Stupid matchmaking sh*t. I want to join a game quickly not sit around bored for a while.

 

Smoke grenades are sh*t also, whose idea was it to make them stun you? Annex is rediculous since once you capture the area, in comes smoke grenades, knocks you to the floor and everyone else, incomes the enemy, shotgun to the face. Repeat.

Smoke grenades were f*cking useless in Gears 1, so they had to make them have some value. The stun factor is key if you play objective type games. You just need to find a way around it. I think ink grenades are awesome, stuns and kills slowly. And the new tagging system, where you are able to tag walls, is f*cking great. Love planting mines for unsuspecting victims.

 

Great storyline, it's more expanded and fun. Multiplayer, especially Horde, is just as fun.

Cliff Bleszinski said that anyone who knew that they'd need an upgrade for the game also knew how to pirate it, so alas, he 'confirmed' that there would be no GoW2 for PC.

 

Don't be surprised if it appears on PC at a later date though, this is probably just a tactic to ramp up 360 sales.

 

Funky: Let's try go for Level 50 on Hardcore! I got totally owned in Horde once. Ran through a doorway only to find a Butcher blocking the way, I run backwards only to stop after a couple of feet, turn around and BAM. Another Butcher clobs me in the head.

 

But yeah, Hammerburst for me.

 

Also, Epic and Microsoft are looking into fixing the Matchmaking, hopefully by 'fix' they mean 'ditch.'

Just finished it myself. What an amazing game. Was well worth it. I really liked...

 

Riding the Brumak, it gave me the same feeling when we got to control Rex in MGS4. Epicness.

Anyone else think the cutscene when Dom finds Maria was really well done? The campaign is so much better than the first game, it actually has proper backstory, helped by the collectable pieces.

 

But it seemed like a film when Dom was saying: "I dont know what to do, I dont know what to do man." While stuttering and holding back his tears.

 

 

Epic has come a long way.

 

EDIT: @Seddo & Pat in this and other topic: Yeah I've had a few invites randomly off people I barely play with anymore. I didnt think anything of it, but it could be this thing you're talking about.

The Dom and Maria scene had myself and my friends sitting in absolute silence, staring at the screen. I actually looked around the room to see the expressions on everyone elses faces when I realised how goddamn emotional it was getting. Brilliant stuff though, I did actully feel as if I was experiencing a really engrossing movie as well as playing an awesome game.

 

Top notch stuff.

 

I'm up for a few games of Horde if anyone is game. I'll be on Live tomorrow after 4pm. I tried playing Horde on my own....damn hard as well as damn f*ckin scarey.
