b4rtsimps0n
One problem to compare the graphics...Gta 4 trailers are ingame, the Mafia 2 trailer is pre-rendered.. So there's nothing to compare.
Emm Ell
All this ''GTA IV Vs ****'' crap is getting pretty old. We come here because we care about GTA IV, not how it compares to other games. Also, when you start a post with ''sorry lock this topic'' you know it is Instant-Fail.
NoSkillz187
Dont make this topic again, it will just get locked. And who cares, i will be buying both. But the draw distance and cars looks way better in GTA 4. Not sure about the character models.

SynTerro
One problem to compare the graphics...Gta 4 trailers are ingame, the Mafia 2 trailer is pre-rendered.. So there's nothing to compare. The trailer show alot of cut scenes and little ingame, but everything you see is like the game will be like(for the PC version at least). There are ingame screens and they look way better than GTA. Both the screens and trailers I have seen so far is from the PC version, and it's kind of unfair to compare PC graphic against console graphic since PC graphic is definitly better. Mafia 2 GTA 4 What I can tell out of these screens, is that GTA has lower res, and the texture looks a little poorly detalied. I know graphic isn't that important, but we do not have much else to judge Mafia 2 on yet, other than Mafia 1 was a great game. dlx
wow... if those are ingame shots for mafia 2... that´s looking pretty damn good. Mafia is one of the very few games that can stand in GTA`s very dark shadow.

dlx
yeah the buildings far off look drab and unfinished... that points to this being a test scene to show off atmosphere or something. It could even be pre rendered and more like a target shot. Also why are there four commercial airliners flying in formation?
SynTerro
yeah but the draw distance is horribale in mafia 2 compared to gta plus thats not how the actuall gta looks like its just an inlraged screenshot. GTA img resolution = 1 200 x 675 piksler - That is about the resolution of the game will actualy be, if the image is blown up show me a full res ingame screen and prove me wrong. When game developers release ingame image it is not common to deliver a blown up image. Mafia img resolution = 1 280 x 811 piksler - That is actualy way lower resolution than PC can handle. Probably a shrinked down image. ..and for the draw distance, there are just to few screens judge that by yet. Also why are there four commercial airliners flying in formation? Those look like WW2 bomb planes, the game is set in the 1940-50 so that would not be unlikely. Edited February 20, 2008 by SynTerro

FelipeVinhao
I simply dunno which one is better. I'm not a graphics addict. Both are on my to-buy list.
Darrel
Which one looks best graphically? Id say Gta, when it comes down to sheer draw distance and lighting, but not in that screen above. They're are much, much better ones than that.
Dillyracer
Not comparable, the Mafia 2 screens are still probably beta.
RONIN1191
All this PC vs Console crap is getting old. I got a question for the PC gamers- about how much did your current rig cost you? Just curious.
NoSkillz187
They both will be a buy. Mafia was great, a little hard but great.
SynTerro
All this PC vs Console crap is getting old. I got a question for the PC gamers- about how much did your current rig cost you? Just curious. To be honest 15000 NOK, its about 2800$, but considering that the NOK is unaturaly strong compared to USD today(1USD=5,363NOK, is normaly closer to 7-8NOK), it is closer to 2000$(prices of hardware does not follow the USD constantly). I have very high demand on PC hardware and I can afford such a costly machine and maintain it(I am an educated computer guy). But there is no need to spend so much to be a PC gamer, I simply has other demands to. I would also add that Norway add high taxes to hardware prices and that also counts for consoles. freak2121
I'm a really huge fan of both Mafia and GTA but i'm still buying both. I can't decide which is better but i love a high speed chases and the 1950s so it's hard to decide

SynTerro
MAFIA sucks......with 1 minute loading screens, like 4 different kinds of peds, sorry car controls, deadass cities, nothing compared to gta ...are you refering to console version or PC version? There is a clear difference on the problems you are refering to. Mafia II probably won't have the same problems on consoles this time around. I love the GTA series and I think IV will be a great game, I'm simply pointing out that it looks like Mafia has better GFX, I'm not saying it's gonna be a better game thats too early to tell. Some of you might react on that I'm mad about no PC version of GTA IV has been announced(and I think I have every right to be so), and since there is no sings of a PC version you have to look for alternatives. I'm not mad GTA is coming to consoles, I'm mad because it is no signs for a PC version(the platform where GTA was born). FelipeVinhao
Mafia doesnt bring the freedom factor like GTA does.. Partly true. In GTA, sandbox and storyline runs together. In Mafia, sandbox was one item on menu and storyline another one. Maybe Mafia 2 will have both together, like GTA.
C.ompton
I agree MAfia sucked on PS2 but it was hella hella SWEET on PC. OMG The Story was amazing. I recommend you playing it on the PC.
freak2121
Get Mafia 1 on the PC there a whole load of add ons for the game at: MafiaScene(Unlimited Draw Distance, Airplane mod, boat mod ect)
FelipeVinhao
Off-topic, but thanks, I was looking for unlimited draw distance for Mafia "1". Although the game was nice as GTA, draw distance was crappy even compared to that time standards.
