And why should Serbia care? Seriously? Why? Does it matter? No, I don't think so. If Kosovo is such a problem with unemployment (just checked about 40-50%), would it not be nicer for Serbia to let go of that trouble?

Oh noes, it is all about cultural history and tradition and all that crap. Sure, cultures are good, but don't make them make you make stupid-ass decisions.

Try moving the hyphen in that last sentence one word to the right.

Fine. Well then, allow me to retort. Customs and traditions make our nations great, they are our identity, our heritage, they define us as English or American or God knows what, Guamese or something. It must be easy to make light of the values of others, safe and sound in your own little bubble. But if we were to imagine that outside forces tore our country apart would we all be so glib? So blase about the whole thing? yes. Some of us would. Nihilists and liberals mostly. But that doesn't make it right. Home is home. We can say "Calm down, it's no big deal" because we're tucked up and safe. But it is a big deal. Especially when what you've been bought up to believe in is suddenly turned on its head. I mean, this type of situation is exactly why democracy doesn't work. Because when you leave the plebs to their own devices they make the wrong choices, they throw away years of history for some vain, fleeting glory. And when this fails who will they blame? The people who gave them the vote in the first place.

There was a report on the news in Slovenia, that don't go into Serbia or Kosovo for the next 14 days, only if It's urgent.

We stoned your embassy and raided your shops. You could be the next Srebenica is you are not careful.

You're just a shining beacon of light for Serbia, aren't you?

I applaud the language that has enabled you to neglect to mention how customs and tradition achieve such wondrous traits amongst our humble peoples.

How? Simple! By ridiculing the customs and beliefs of others. It's a sad fact of life but we can only feel good when we make other people feel bad. Our traditions are therefore made important by those they insult. Guy Fawkes for example, I'm sure he doesn't like seeing his effigy burn every year. And Independence Day in America that is held at the expense of the British. I believe that all people need an enemy. An enemy is who we measure ourselves against. We band together against this common foe and create rituals based around this mutual hatred.

And if that doesn't work we just blather on about HOPE and CHANGE for a while. Pretty soon it sinks in.

Perhaps I'm just being outlandishly liberal here, but I don't tend to get my kicks from making others feel bad - and I'm fairly certain I'm not in a one-man-canoe on this subject. I would certainly agree that customs and tradition provide security for those that are otherwise lacking in it; strengthening an otherwise weak entity. Tradition isn't something to be celebrated, but precisely the opposite - it requires fixing, usually through actions that really could achieve for a person the status of 'great'. A well-known method for this is making other people feel good (vicious circle, eh?)

˸ Hahha. Love it man.

Sort it for yourself. Albanians are descended from Ancient Illyrians and Dacians and Thracians, the latter two which are ancestors of Romanians. Serbs are descended of Slavs, which are the ancestros of Poles, Russians, etc. Sort it for yourself, and there is no use arguing anymore, because Kosovo is independant now; my rant on the internet will not change a thing.

@Svip: Is there actually anything wrong with fighting for our culture? Every Serb has the right to visit where our culture originated, the problem is when we as Serbs go to Kosovo, we are not treated nicely. I mean, we should, shouldn't we? All Albanians are really doing is promoting a greater Albania, not the rights of Kosovo. You will see; within twenty years, Albanians in Greece and Macedonia will rebel.

And, I repeat again; we did never treat Albanians poorly. When we were Yugoslavia, all workers had to donate money to help both Albanians and Serbs in Kosovo, but mainly Albanians. Instead of at least being grateful for this money, you turn it into drugs, and the money is gone. 75% of Kosovo's population is now unemployed, and with that terrorist Hashim Thaci in power, that will not decrease greatly.

EDIT: @˸øåíüêà: Nice job, very funny. icon14.gif

@bagga rabbit: Serbs are descended from Slavs, who originated near western Russia/eastern Poland. We look very similar to Russians, Poles and Czechs. Albanians are descended from Illyrians, Dacians and Thracians, the latter two are ancestors of Romanians, while the former is only the ancestor of Albania. Albanians are also genetically derived from Arabs and Turks, so if you mix it all together, they look different. Albanians look more 'Arabic', per se, while Serbs look more Russian. Here is an example.

You really think that they are going to rebel in Greece? Are you aware of how many separatist movements there are around this world?

It is funny that you continue to claim that Albanians was never treated badly by the Serbs, yet history seems to tell a different story. I am not saying the Albanians were angels, I am just saying you weren't good either.

Oh, and get your facts straight, 40-50% of Kosovo is unemployed. Also, the 1% tax for Kosovo? Sure, Saddam Hussein said he ran a democracy. But you can always claim something isn't true. And even if it was, could it not just be a damned PR thing, which was generally poorly managed? Cause as you said yourself, it didn't work.

But hey, you are obviously biased because you hate them anyway.

I don ot hate any race/religion/nationality etc. I will let you know that my girlfriend is half Albanian, ironically, and her family are going nuts about this.

Yes, I am not naive; I realise that there are plenty of rebellions around the world. However, I am not saying that Albanians in Greece will be rebelling in the next few weeks; nowhere near that. I am talking about at least 20 years down the track.

When I said Serbs never treated Albanians poorly, I was talking about pre-Milosevic. And yes, Serbs were not angels, but Albanians are not exactly that innocent either, and it is not as if the attacks were unprovoked. The Albanians that were killed were either by Serbian forces or Albanians themselves. The infamous Racak massacre, which started the nonsense, is known throughout eastern Europe (and Albania) to be perpetuated by Albanians. Just look at how they were killed, by slicing their throats. That is something that is against the Serbian military law, yet coincidentally is part of Albanian military techniques. Not only that, but in post-mortems some of those were Serbs who died and were dressed up as Albanians.

In ways, I agree with you.

Please, go away. At least provide an opinion.

No. It is a debate; a debate is where two sides argue about which issue is better. If this indeed was a fight, half of us would be banned now.

Now, if you wish to argue with me about these definitions, please, take this to PM as this topic is only for discussion about Kosovo.

No, this is not a debate. This is a bunch of bitter teenage Serbs ranting about how America is trying to destroy their country and how cool they are because they vandalized U.S. property.
