OtaconPliskin
Any differences between PSP and Ps2 version?
.:Alex:.
PS2 version has extra content. More unique stunts, rampages, puchasable items and an exclusive easter egg.
OtaconPliskin
Are the ammount of peds on the street/ AI the same? And what is this extra purchaseable content/Easter egg? Vishnuka
saintdave
The AI is the same, the amount of pedestrians spawning in areas might be slightly better due to the better memory capabilities the PS2 has. Additionally the PSP version has multiplayer whereas the PS2 version doesn’t.

OtaconPliskin
And Ps2 has worse frame rate then the PSP Version. So, The better buy is the PSP version? Can anyone tell me what I'm missing out on in the Ps2 version?
sheek...
if it was up to me I'd buy both but if I had to choose I would choose psp for the simple fact that the ps2 isn't portable Edited February 19, 2008 by sheek...
Chargr
I was disappointed on VCS & LCS versions of the PS2. I expected a good upgrade. I would go for the PSP. You can play with others who have VCS, which is fun.
Ginya
Hmm... Ive never played GTA VCS on PS2, but I heard from R* that they couldn't make the VCS on PSP the same for PS2 so I'm assuming we have it a bit better. Plus you can take it with you anywheres, not needing a TV......or a power source to plug in your console
evilrex
I own it for PSP and it's buggy as hell. Nevemind Grand Theft Auto, this is Glitch Theft Auto. PS2 version is probably fixed.

.:Alex:.
PS2 version has less glitches (I never encountered a single one actually) and much better graphics but has no multiplayer. Ratt Pakk
0mfg0rz
I have it on both, There is pro's and con's to both. PSP: Portable, Multiplayer, Released on PSP first PS2: Quicker loading screens, The game is bigger (On a TV, not the actual size of the game/game area), Kinda easier to play imo, Possibly less buggy/Reduced glitches? and there is just the general cons and pros of the PSP and PS2 that aren't related to the game, such as PSP's running out of battery etc

I don't own both but my nephew has it when I played it wasn't that bad on glitches I have it for ps2 and I don't see a major difference in the 2 maybe if I played the psp version before the ps2 I could say more about the glitches
BixDugan
PS2 has around 6 additional USJs, 5 more Rampages (the kill 70 Sharks in two minutes was a Hoot) and 2 or 3 more checkpoint races. The glitches in the PSP are not a problem once you're aware of them. So if you like to play on the go, or if you've got a friend with a PSP & VCS, then go PSP. I'd really like to try the multi-player sometime, but I've got no friends...
RidingHigh
I've only encountered one major glitch on the PS2 version. In the Biplane challenge, just past the stadium the plane started spinning violently and crashed into the water. Very strange. The PS2 version has this fancy looking old ship restaurant which seems to glitter at night from it's neon lights.
bumster
PS2: Quicker loading screens depends if you have the slim psp or the original the slim has double ram

buzbegone
If you do have a PS3, get the PS2 version. If not, PSP would be the best choice.
Cursed
Why would you get the PS2 version based on having a PS3? It's not backwards compatible. Edited April 11, 2010 by Cursed
Mince
i have both psp and ps2 both good and awsome no problems and better graphics psp Just a guess, but the OP has probably purchased one of the two versions two years ago, when this topic was started. MadcapSmoky22
I own it for PSP and it's buggy as hell. Nevemind Grand Theft Auto, this is Glitch Theft Auto. PS2 version is probably fixed. Indeed, PSP version has ugly graphics, low FPS, is a lot of glitchy, and overall it's just overall sh*t. I would take VCS on PS2 and LCS on PSP if I would be in your shoes

Mince
To me PSP version has better graphics, although I have a pretty bad TV so the PS2 version doesn't look the greatest. The PSP version does lag a lot for me, and there are a lot of glitches, but it isn't that bad.
WTFX
psp! when u play on it ur running on 480x272 reso on a small screen so the crappy textures of gta 3 engine games don't look as bad (it looks actually almost great). if u play it on large screen (ps2) ofc it's gonna look worse. and with 333mhz it isn't laggy at all, unfortunately this needs modding the psp. i bought the game, but couldn't stand it with cpu running at 222mhz. (at 222mhz cpu speed it indeed was laggyish) and on psp u can have cheatmachine which is pretty much an in-game trainer, it's freaking fun to play around with after finishing the story. massrcor
psp! when u play on it ur running on 480x272 reso on a small screen so the crappy textures of gta 3 engine games don't look as bad (it looks actually almost great). This is why ppl think the psp has better graphics. I'd still be playing it on my psp if my screen didn't break... anyway the ps2 version (made a recent trip to my local gamestop) looks pretty good as far as the renderware gta III-era goes. The trails do a good job masking the "crappiness" as I have an HD tv and the "lush" look the trails give out makes it look softer and more smooth. I've experienced some glitches, yes. 1 comes to mind, I was driving a taxi and I drove underneath the little awning thing next to your '101 bayside apartment' by the front door. well I got out, and the door couldn't open as I was too close to the wall and got stuck inbetween the roof of the taxi and bottom of the awning. ultimately, I was incapacitated and had to go use a suicide cheat... because I just did like 1-2 hours worth of missions and empire gains and didn't want to revert back to my last save. It really sucked, but at least now I understand the the real purpose of the suicide cheat... to get cho ass out dat f*cked up glitch yo. all in all, they are both great choices as far as games go. But you can't really beat GTA on the go, so probably the best choice would be to buy them for both psp and ps2. So you get both pros of them and not just cons either one has
Lee Everett
PS2 version has less glitches (I never encountered a single one actually) and much better graphics but has no multiplayer. Uhm, it doesn't really have better graphics. When buying this game on the PS2 it looks like a PSP Port, because that's all it is. A Psp port. I suggest just buying the original
