anus
crysis IS unoptimised. on a 3870x2 my friend has, he gets the same FPS or sometimes lower than I do with my 8800GT Couldn't that be an issue with ATi drivers? I read that Catalyst is total sh*t compared to ForceWare and has loads of bugs and ATi seems to take forever to fix 'em. By the way, if Crysis is just unoptimised, why do PC sites take Crysis as a benchmarking programme for testing hardware? I mean it's huge performance requirement is just because it's not optimized well and so isn't worthy of all the 'futuristic graphics' and 'was built for futuristic PCs' hype. GTA3Freak-2001
Glad you got it running, time for crysis. Yeah just gave it a whirl, getting about 40fps with everything on high so I am extremely happy with that!
matthew1g
Currently, I've Ati x1050, the 8800gt is little over budget, so i was thinking of 8400 or ati hd2600.how bad is 8400 than 8800 gt.and i bought a game named Jericho by codemasters but it doesnt support my ati. Is 6600 better than mine. 8400 is comparable to a 6600GT, my 6800XT got me more FPS than this card- by today's standard, its utter sh*t. you'd be better off buying an ATi X1950 pro or a 7900GT as they perform better than an 8600GT ( and in some cases the GTS). if you're going to get DX10, just don't look at anything other than an ATI 3850/3870 or a geforce 8800GT ( I've mentioned these in order of performance, slowest and cheapest is first.) Andrew
Excellent mate, glad you got it working. So it was the motherboard issue?
*gta star*
Speaking of 8800GT's, I was thinking about getting this card. What do you think? http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(26772)XFX-Ge...-PCIE-Dual.aspx Scroll down a bit on that page. First DX10 GPU with shader 4.0, supposedly. matthew1g
XFX are great, but try looking for a BFG OC2 which has the same specs and might be cheaper than the XFX. the 8 series is the first GPU with DX10 and shader 4.0 support yeah, but if you mean the first card on the market then it's the 8800GTX which was released in Nov 06. GTA3Freak-2001
Excellent mate, glad you got it working. So it was the motherboard issue? Yeah I needed to flash the video card bios to a Gen 1 or PCie 1.0 version for it to be detected by my mobo.
