Picolini
Welcome to Picolini's 2008 Chicago Autoshow Photo Gallery! This year I took over 800 pictures, so I'm sure to post PLENTY of them, and I figured this would be the place. Feel free to talk about anything related. The cars posted, what you think of autoshows, this autoshow, the concepts shown, etc, etc. Also, if you've got a request for any of the pics in a background size, send me a PM and I'll see what I can do. As I said, I've taken hundreds of pictures, so instead of making you wait until they're all processed and uploaded, I'll be updated it daily. I reserved the first few posts to allow me some space to post pictures, but I'm sure I'll run out of room there. TO VIEW THEM at full size, which is usually 1000px wide, just click the picture. I kept them all at 800px wide to not page stretch (at least not that much, for those with smaller res monitors), and for those with slower connections. Any suggestions or comments, throw them at me. NOW, ON WITH THE PICTURES! (To view them all in a single gallery, CLICK HERE (My Deviantart.com page). ===================================== Cadillac CTS-V Cadillac CTS Coupe concept ZR1 Corvette Edited February 18, 2008 by Picolini

Picolini
I didn't get any pictures from VW, not a fan of them. Porsche, I've got a few shots, nothing new I believe. Audi as well, but I did get some pictures from that. That gives me an idea, if anyone's got an requests for cars for me to post first, let me know and I'll see what I can do. In advance, for some reason, Ferrari wasn't at the show.

Picolini
Lol, yeah. I can't wait until they come out with the CTS-V coupe, which is only an obvious way to go. Should be quite a car.
lurchseesu420
I wouldn't mind seeing some Porsche pics. GT2 engine shots would be nice.
Mega
At least Porsche didn't snob the Chicago auto show like they did for Detroit. Signature soon.
kevin2006rhs
Yeah, wait until the even less noteable Pittsburgh Auto Show comes around in April. So many auto manufacturers blow it off its not even funny. I remember the "sportiest" car I sat in the last time I went (back in about 2001 or so) was a Toyota MR-S. It was sad. Hopefully they have come some way since then. Hell, our convention center has gotten some major renovations making way for more space. David L. stingray.
Nice! CTS Coupe = Eldorado part II; can't wait. Porsche has the Cayenne GTS at their stand, which is new. Volkswagen unveiled the Routan, which is based on the Chrysler minivans.
kevin2006rhs
Atomsmasher(Passat + Town and Country) = VW Routan Fumbling out of the "why bother" category here at the Chicago Auto Show is the 2009 Volkswagen Routan, which is their new minivan based on the Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Caravan platform. Oddly, Volkswagen opened up its presentation by showing pics and videos of its classic vehicles, such as the old Beetle and the old-style rear-engined vans. What's odd is that those classics share absolutely no heritage with the new Chrysler minivan-based Routan. Why conjure up favorable memories of the old VW van before letting us down with this new one? Moving on to better things, the new van does have a pretty attractive face, more attractive than the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country, at least. Standard features are many, including traction and stability controls, a 6-speed automatic transmission and Chrysler's 3.8L V6, though a 4.0L V6 producing 251 hp is also available. The interior is nicer in the Routan than in its Chrysler counterparts, though that's not necessarily saying much. We'll reserve final judgment until we get a chance to live with it, though. Volkswagen believes that it has struck a better ride and handling compromise on the Routan than Chrysler was able to achieve with either of its vans, which is a bit like biting the hands that feeds you. Nothing on the Routan is all that bad, so we think that any potential minivan customer will consider it. What it will cost is unknown, but VW said the Routan will start around $25,000. We still question whether this is the best that Volkswagen could do with such a great history of vans to draw upon. As we see it, all this vehicle does is give VW dealers a vehicle to sell to large families. source Its sad that Volkswagen is doing a better job at being Chrysler than Chrysler is. stingray.
Its sad that Volkswagen is doing a better job at being Chrysler than Chrysler is. That's true. The Chrysler siblings need a makeover fast. The problem with minivans is that the segment is dying very quickly. VW has decided to enter the segment when almost everyone has decided to abandon it. The Routan won't sell much, becuase it's more of a luxury minivan, which makes it more of a Phaeton part II scenario, where VW exported the Phaeton to the US with a price tag of thousands less than it's competitors with very identical, in fact almost the same level of luxury, but people didn't like it. Why? because people stick to originals, like the S-Class and the 7-Series. Now I am not saying that the Chryslers are Mercedes', but they have been around the market for more than a decade now. Minivan-ers buy them and love them. Or even the Honda Odyssey in this case. The Routan isn't the kind of car that can resurrect the minivan segment because there is nothing unique about it. kevin2006rhs
Luxury...sh*t. The expected base price is 25,000. My dad's Chevy Uplander, with its leather, nav, rear dvd, and all the electronic wizardry only cost him 31,000.

stingray.
Yeah the Cadillacs are awesome! (I never thought I'd say that, 'cause I generally don't like The General) The interiors on both of them are nearly the same, except the coupe has more concept-y touches to it. OG "D" Gangsta
That's impossible, most of those Suzuki's are Kei car (Small and compact car) that has maximum amount of HP not more than a mere 64 HP. What you gonna expect from them? Suzuki supercar?
