What the HUD will look like?

it might be better with the street name above the suburb

i put it below the mini map because it will probely be shown more frequently then the suberb name

so because i thought that when you turn you will probely look at the mini map to make sure your going the right way

Nice, the red and blue semi-circle must indicate the life and armour.

a satellite image of New York and loose the coma in the money bar.

Also, the achievement would look different from an X-box like template

I'd like to see the mini-map in the bottom left with the health and armor meter completely surrounding it just like the previews mentioned.

 

To save space, I would not leave any space between the meters and the mini-map.

 

When you switch a weapon it should appear for about 5-15 seconds in the bottom right, then fade away. No need to always show the weapon icon, because you can look at the screen to see which weapon is in Niko's hand. No previous and next weapon icons should appear. I think it's dumb, because you will learn which weapon comes after the other as you play the game.

 

The current number of stars should be in the upper right corner. So, if you have 4 out of six stars it should only show 4 stars - not 4 lit stars and 2 unlit stars. If you have no stars, they they should all disappear (no empty stars). It would fade away like the weapons.

 

I've never really thought it was that important to display money on the screen, as I hardly spent it. I'd usually pick up my items from the ground, so needing to know exactly how much cash I had was not that important. If I WAS buying weapons, I probably had way too much anyway. So, there it doesn't matter either. I think the cash information should be stored in the menu.

 

Oh, and street names could be appear at the bottom center, fading away after a few seconds. Alerts (text messages, voicemails, etc.) could show up in the top left which fade away.

 

Ideally, you could customize the way you want your information to be displayed (which information and how long you want it to be displayed). I doubt this will be the case though. I like the streamlined look of just having the mini-map, health, and armor indicator staying constantly on. The other stuff can fade away (except the stars, if you have any). Why not show off the gorgeous details of the city?

No previous and next weapon icons should appear. I think it's dumb, because you will learn which weapon comes after the other as you play the game.

In Bully, They would only appear while scrolling through weapons. Once you stop, the next and previous icons fade, leaving your chosen weapon.

most of it is self explainetory

 

 

the street name is dislayed below the mini map

the armor level is shown at the top 1/4 surounding he map

health is the green bar and it starts where the armor ends going down the side of the map

the blue circles on the map that have a red cone thing ahed of them are alearted police and the blue circles with nohing are unawere.

the green circles are allies

the white circle on the map is niko and the direction he is heading.

 

just realised i forgot something, the money count is suposed to be to the right of the radio station name. and it is green

I think it was alittle too much... the hud will be as little in the way as possible...

Sorry but it's way too big. + it's confirmed it's the same old star system.

I'd put a GTA style map in the radar, though.

I just get the feeling it won't be that way this time around. I think it's gonna be like a satellite picture for some reason. Like in Test Drive Unlimited if you've played it.

No i don't like the idea of a satellite map, that sucks. I hope it will be like a GPS Map like this:

I dont know if its already been said and this goes for the first & second fanmade HUD. (FIRST) But if Niko is firing at a helicopter it would most likely be a police chopper so maybe you should put the police radar in the map. To show where the cops are located and how they're searching for Niko. (SECOND) Same to you being that he has two stars.

 

In the second fanmade HUD is alittle different, new kind of style that i can see happening in the next-gen of gta. But i do remember reading the wanting level stars to be around the map. <Like-style TheGodfather:Game>

Are you talking to me as the second? i do have two stars and thank's for the tip about the police on the radar wink.gif

It would be easier if you reffered to the name of the custom made hud's i guess the first one is the one the topic starter made.

 

 

Once a police officer does show up, the wanted stars pop up. What's new is that a circle flashes on the player's mini-map. This represents the part of the city where Niko is in trouble.

Thanks. Made a small update showing alittle mor of the minimap. out of the following quotes.

 

 

Characters still went running for cover when the Rockstar rep had Niko open fire on a truck in a crowded street, but it took awhile for a police officer to show up and give chase. Once a police officer does show up, the wanted stars pop up. What's new is that a circle flashes on the player's mini-map. This represents the part of the city where Niko is in trouble. If he can get out of it, he's out of trouble. If he doesn't split, he's going to get hunted down. And if he fights the cops, that circle is going to get bigger, making escape more difficult. In previous "GTA" games, Barrera said, "It was, 'I can commit a crime, and I just stop and hide.' But now if you do that, you'll stay wanted. [The new system] keeps you on the move."

 

 

Other news about travel in "GTA" includes the breakthrough that cars that Niko steals now have GPS systems. A yellow route will be drawn on the player's mini-map in the lower-left-hand corner of the screen to get them to a selected destination. Players that steal luxury cars will discover that the GPS in those vehicles can talk.

Not bad but, i don't think they will use a text so Vice cityish, and the stars reminds me of Kirby somehow. and as more ppl say i think the clock will be on the phone.

But no offense man. It's a nice hud. But not as i would imagine the next gen, as they said it was minimalistic and clean.

 

plus, you might would add the police radar stuff on the minimap as you have wanted level's

My take on combat...

 

The Green circle inside the lockon-crosshair represents the targets health.

The red-glowing circle is the manual adustment to the lock-on, the player has centered it onto the face of the target for a headshot.

Like this one. but i wonder something. could you make one more wich shows how the GPS will work and the cop system?

including wanted stars and the circle indicator.

 

One thing i didnt like tho was the phone screen in your corner. I doubt anything like that will be in the game. there will be color display on the phones. Cool idea tho (What did you mean by Meh? mercie_blink.gif )

now, about the map.. I think the car is coming out from a garage. And there is a train on the far-right. You should put that track on the map. Also change the color of the weapon's name, it's too white.
