I don't know if you have heard but the Goverment is planning on banning you from having the internet if you are caught repeatdly downloading films/music etc.

you get three warnings and then you get blocked from the internet.

what are your thoughts and opinions about this?

EDIT: UK only i think.

The same way our governments track all electronic communication on the planet.

The governement isn't going to track you. They are going to force the interenet providers to track you and if they are caught not banning someone they will be heavily fined.

The trouble is there is so much free stuff on the internet you could get something and watch it without knowing you were supposed to pay or that it was pirated.

What do they plan to do to the internet providers when they catch someone visiting free sites or sites that appear free or legitimate which are found out not to be or the ones that are yet everything is quite about them?

I have seen quite a few and YOUTUBE is just one such place.

Facism. Dictatorship. That's why I love this country, even the president buy illegal movies and such, therefore, he won't ban anyone's net, otherwise it's hipocracy.

Does this have anything to do with The Patriot Act? notify.gif

I think it has more to do with UNIONS. The artists want their share.

Time to get out of your oyster.

I don't see this coming into play. It'll have to go through parliament to make it law. However, if the Goverment are very serious about this, they will have to make every ISP operating in the UK comply with these new laws. That won't be too difficult as the ISP can be taken down easily due to the servers being on UK soil.

I don't think the Goverment take this too seriously, therefore, it won't be seen in the near future.

All I can say is

Sucks to live in UK if that happens

I download music all the time here. Hell, I just downloaded 10 songs and I will probably burn them with some other mp3 songs and then I'm gonna sell the CD and make a fortune LOL

If this happens it will be another nail in the coffin of freedom. Next the internet will be like that of China, with only select websites which we may view. cry.gif

This won't work. With proxy servers, wifi hijacking, you still have to consider how many computers gain internet access through NAT. One IP address might correspond to thousands of people. How is anyone to be held personally accountable?

It seems like instead of trying to address this issue, they're just going to fine the ISPs and wantonly take away personal rights until the industry itself introduces technology to make personal accountability more possible.

Should only be another decade.
