ROCKSTARmentality
Hey guys, I'll say it... I was lucky enough to do some voice acting for random peds. in GTA SA, and amongst some of my friends who did voice acting for GTA 4, they tell me that the peds. variety and detailed voice acting is unheard of. One of my friends said that he'd be suprised if youll EVER hear the same thing twice (which is obviously being a bit sarcastic, but still...) So i know some people will say 'we already know this' But i thought i would tell you that from the people who said the stuff themselves, that the amount is unreal Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/311788-peds/ Share on other sites

Slamman
Most voices are credited, come clean on that account! Then I'll buy your story Just to add though, if you know the line was used in a cutscene, then you can tell us that at least. I have always said there are new things to hear in the game environment all the time, so I believe that! RidingHigh
Some questions... How did you get involved in Rockstar's voice recording? Is it something you have to apply for? Slamman
I can understand that, but it's not often common knowledge, a stand in is quite different... like in a crowd scene that uses anyone in a movie vs your voice in the actual game for all time, assuming it makes the cut of course. A lot of GTA cast used for peds covers more then one ped. I myself have done many voices for my own amusement and would love nothing more then doing that for a living!! Typhus
Wait, in order to do voice work you have to "know the right people"? But why can't they just come right out and ask people to apply? I mean, are you talking about nepotism here? The voice cast are friends and family of Rockstar employees? Because that's unfair. And, for the record, I actually believe this story. He's not suggesting that he knows anything major about the game, he's admitted to having a lot of his stuff rejected, I just think that a liar would inflate his own importance and this guy seems pretty mellow. Imaginge each and every one of those people having a minimum of three lines each. That totals... Uhm... Err... 1200-1500 lines in a game, and three is just the (hypothetical) minimum. But if you really worked for R* 1st: You wouldnt say all that kind of stuff. 2nd: You woulnd't try to keep proving that you were a voice in SA, it's just stupid, you're tryin to be more than you are. That's stupid. Every person who has done work for Rockstar is listed on IMDB, so you fail again. No ones ever uncredited in their work. Grand Theft Auto 3 - around 100 voice actors * useless knowledge: Sam Houser was even the voice of a ped in 3* page 24 in manual Vice City - around 130 voice actors *page 23 San Andreas - around 300 voice actors * page 21-22 Every single person was credited and they're on IMDB it's been like that since the first Grand Theft Auto. If you did, you'd notice...you can't help it, unless you're the type who walks around with ear plugs on so you can't hear ambient sound. Repetitive voiceovers do wear on you after a while. For references, see Saints Row. I swear I hear the same 10 lines of dialogue over and over again, no matter where I'm at in the city. I wish GTA IV would hurry up and get out here. DDR Midian
So.. this guy says he voiced a British ped in a game that's probably got a ton of British people in their development team already.. why did they get you in exactly? Main roles are obviously gonna be professional voice actors, and all their names will be credited, random peds could quite easily be done by Rockstar themselves, it's not rocket science. Yet apparently they chose not to do it themselves, or use the professionals they've already paid to come in and do the work. Weird.
