How much will the DLC cost?

Recommended Posts

How the hell do we know? Especially since we don't even know what the content is.

Forums open to speculation and not know fact!!!!!

Anywho,i would like this content to be free but im thinking if its over a gig in content that it will be upwards of 800ms.

I was thinking $40 or $30 is gonna be the final price tag....obviously though nobody knows the answer to this.

lol Yeh right. I aint buyin it for that much.

I would say from 800, to 1000 MP, but 1000 is kind of high. I would seriously put my money on 800.

Oblivion's Shivering Isles added (so they say) 30+ hours of gameplay. That cost 2400 MS points, about £20.. I doubt each pack will add 30 hours, maybe 10 at the most, so I wouldn't expect it to exceed 2400 MS points.. Although this is probably where MS will step in an screw us all over..

My thoughts exactly.

Yes the forum is open to speculation, but this topic has no future.

Also, there has been many topics on this.

I'm guessing $15-40

I swear to god if it costs that much I am not buuying it. I love R* and all they do but f*ck that, I aint no f*ckin zombie that just throws money at everything they do....

i dont buy microsoft points, i just play the games, but i think im gonna have to for this game, how much to MPs cost.

Depends on how much you want and where you get it. If you get it off the xbox.com site they dont cost as much.

2100 is about £17.99 in the uk.

Considering how much rockstar was paid for their agreement with ms i would like this to be free, as that surely would have made their pockets ALOT fatter.

Hell no are you joking? It will probably be about 2000 MS points.

Oh ok sorry I was just guessing, I guess that is a little rediculous huh since the actual game cost only a little more than that.

lol

Also my xbox isnt connected to xbox live so I dont know sh*t about microsoft points etc...

lol

Microsoft do not set any price points of any DLC, they give guidelines to the publishers and its them the publisher who decides the price point.

The thing we have to keep in mind here is the 50 million that has been paid by microsoft for these "exclusive" episodes. Now this was more like a loan, MS expect to get every last penny back by selling the DLC, if I understand correctly if they don't get the money back via selling the content then Rockstar has to pay the difference back. So for example :-

Both episodes bring in 58 million = MS get 50 million and Rockstar get 8million

both episodes bring in 30 million = MS get 30 million and Rockstar have to pay MS 20 million back.

With this in mind I personally think the content will be about £15-£20 per episode, so if they make 1 -2 million sales MS and Rockstar should break even on the episodes. I would expect it to be nearer £20 for the UK and probably $20 for the US.

Shivering Isles cost so much because it wasn't like an add on, it was an expansion pack, like for the sims. It pretty much made the game twice as long and added a lot of new items. I doubt the DLC for GTA will be an expansion pack type deal.

Also @CharmingCharlie: I doubt that R* will have to pay Microsoft back the difference if they don't make the profits they were looking for.

Sorry ryuclan but it is the case that Rockstar will have to pay back any shortfall that occurs with the Downloadable content. The money MS gave Rockstar is an ADVANCE, not a payment. MS LOANED rockstar 50 million, it expects the "exclusive" content to generate more than 50 million, if it doesn't then Rockstar will have to pay back any deficit.

Taking that 70/30 split (publisher/Microsoft) and the $50 million advance into account, Microsoft is apparently confident that GTA IV download revenues over Xbox Live will be at least $70 million.

If revenues don't meet that figure, Take-Two will have to return some of the advance, according to Pachter. But he said that there's no reason to believe Take-Two would actually miss that revenue target.

I never heard that, I thought it was a payment, thats what everything was saying. Microsoft Paid R*. But whatever doesnt matter to me. The revenue generated by the game alone will cover the cost and the amount of people buying 360s to play it.
