0mfg0rz
Hmm, why did it stop working?, Did you install some new hardware or something?. You should still post your system specs none the less. Anyway, try the game in Windows 98 Compatibility mode (Right click the shortcut>Properties>Compatibility), or try deleting the .set file from C:\Documents and Settings\<WINDOWS_ACCOUNT_NAME>\My Documents\GTA San Andreas User Files Edited February 9, 2008 by 0mfg0rz Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/311166-san-andreas-starting-problem/#findComment-1057486289 Share on other sites

0mfg0rz
Ok, you will have to wait for girishb or someone else to run through some other troubleshooting tips with you, I've never really had any problems running my game so I can't really think of anything else you could try. However you could look through some other topics in this section and maybe try some of the ideas that the members of this forum suggest for other people like yourself with a troubleshooting problem... edit: just to clarify, you haven't installed any mods or anything have you since you've had your PC back..? Further edit: are you sure you still have direct x 9.0 installed? When you sent your PC off or whatever, it could of been removed by them for whatever reasons. Also you could try updating your video drivers. I wouldn't recommend a System Restore if you just got your PC back, Might bring back some errors that you just had cleared. Girish
Try reinstalling DirectX from the game disc. gta_sa.set file is created when you run the game for the first time (after deleting it). It isn't there coz your game hasn't worked yet. Edit: Also, when your PC broke, could you tell us what exactly the problem was? Did you get the OS reinstalled? If your OS has been reinstalled, then you shouldn't be having any problem after reinstalling the game. Anyways, try installing DirectX for now and report back. Yes they re-installed OS and all files stayed non were deleted after that SA didnt start. And also i ran the DirectX install from the disc and installed it, but still if i run dxdiag it says :The file d3dim700.dll is missing! You should reinstall DirectX to get the latest version. Acime
And also this should be interesting (if i run dxdiag): The system is using the generic video driver. Please install video driver provided by the hardware manufacturer. To test DirectDraw functionality, click the "Test DirectDraw" button above. Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer. Well i dont know what to do, my computer is retarded... Perhaps, it wasn't installed properly in the first place. Girish
Ohh, how do i unistall it ? If you're talking about the OS, then you'll require the OS disc (Windows XP/Vista). You've to boot from the disc to reinstall the OS. If you're not sure on how to do this, get some good technical help.
