The Playstation-GTA Officer
I have been having trouble with finding which gta4 is better on which console (please no fanboys, please it is just a friendly conversation). I am plannig to buy the special edition but i just want to know about which console might have more detail and faster loading times. plus what is it that microsoft really got from rockstar? 2 missions worth 1 hour of game play altogether or would it be some thing like a new stor? or etc... pleaase, pleeez no fanboyism
Tyler.reigle
well the playstation has blu ray which i believe will make it faster.. i don't own either console so im not a fan boy.. then the x box 360 has been getting the red ring of death lately... so i would go to the playstation 3 but the x box 360 will have exclusive stuff too.. but the playstation might not.. stingray.
@karem: I don't think so. I went to a dealer who said that the latest batch they're getting still has the RROD problem. But yeah, I think you should get a 360, 'cause it's way cheaper than the PS3 and has quality games. Just don't let it overheat. Blu Ray drives have a constant read speed where as DVD drives have a variable read speed depending on where its been reed on the disc. Because of that they are pretty even cause the read speed decreases on dual layer disc which most Xbox360 games are on. Also DVD drives have a higher read error because of the increased speed the disc rotates at, nearly 5 times faster than Blu Ray drives. So they are pretty even. GTA_Godfather
I agree that you should first get the one that has the games you want to play. I honestly don't think there will be a significant enough difference in graphics (frame rates, etc.) to make that a deciding factor. If, however, you are solely focusing on this game (as a diehard, obsessed GTA fan), you should take other things into account. Obviously, this means you would eagerly buy ANYTHING GTA-related R* comes out with (software-wise). That being said, I don't see how a person like this can knowingly pass on the exclusive episodic content that only Microsoft and the Xbox 360 can offer. IF R* is being paid $50,000,000 for the RIGHTS to publish it EXCLUSIVELY, you know it's good (besides that fact that R* does not put ANYTHING crappy on the shelves. I personally guarantee it WILL be fantastic.). Now, I'd say that I fall into the hardcore GTA fan category. For me, all those little things like controller (some say the PS3 controller is better), blu-ray capability (which means more space on discs and blu-ray movie playing ability), and possibly better graphics (which I doubt) do NOT measure up as an equal trade for GUARANTEED exclusive episodic content. So, you have to weigh all these things. Do you have to be able watch blu-ray movies with it and forgo the episodic content? Do you have to have that PS3 controller? Is it worth giving up the exclusive episodic content for? That's the trade-off. Consider cost as well if that's important to you.
sharp222us
^^^Both systems will look identical. Rockstar has said this many times. Both systems will have exclusive content, but the 360 will have two extra missions. These will most likely cost money though on 360 live. I have a PS3 so I will obviously be getting it for that. Kroven
I've played both systems (I had an Xbox 360 for awhile but it died, and I just never felt like dealing with it again). The PS3 and 360 are really both great systems, and will both have great games on them. The PS3 is just now really starting to come through with some games, while the 360 has a pretty good line up of games that have been out for some time, and are getting cheaper by the day. As so many have said before, it really depends on your taste of console. Which controller do you like better, and which system specific games are you more anxious about? And the new XBox 360's still have the Red Ring of Death happening to them... my gf works at Best Buy and has alot of people complaining about their system that they just got for Christmas. But in the same sense, I had my 360 for more than a year before it hit it's RRoD. The PS3 might end up having it's own problems as well from what I'm hearing, of the laser failing in it, but I have not heard very many accounts of this happening yet. I was hoping for some extra mapping and cares.. Not missions.. f*ck the mission, there probably enough missions to do. Extra missions dont make it exclusive for me.. But if rock made some extra mapping and cares as exclusive content for the 360 that would be nice. would't it? This got me thinking to trade my xbox360 for a ps3
stingray.
Well, I think I should go ahead and tell you to buy a 360. It has better games (atleast right now) and a better online service. Good games for the PS3 are coming, but a bit late. Cross platform games have better graphics on the 360. But based on exclusive games, overall I have to say the PS3 has better graphics. So let me TRY and sum it up for you without being too technical with all that Blu-ray and DVD stuff: 360: Super-fun games, great graphics which are better than the PS3 on cross-platform games. PS3: OVERALL better graphics on exclusive games and more reliable. And by overall better graphics, I mean that if you compare the graphics of PS3 exclusive and 360 exclusive games, the graphics are better. To me atleast. However, this is not the case in most cross-platform games. Hope I don't sound biased.
ishouldntbehere
I thought it was that the DLC was each an extra 10 hours of gameplay, not 1. B it maps, or missions, or whatever, i dont think anyone has confirmed what exactly it is, only that microsoft paid 50,000,000 to keep it xbox exclusive. Look and feel wise, GTA on the PS3 and XBOX will be identical.. now, you could get the XBOX and get the extra downloadable content when it comes available. Or you can get a PS3 that comes with a wireless internet browser, some other PS3 exclusive games, and a blue ray player (which ive heard is the "winner" over HD DVD). PS3 will be more expensive though. so thats your choice. more expensive + cool PS3 stuff + no extra content OR less expensive + extra content but no cool extra PS3 stuff. choose wisely. However, this is not the case in most cross-platform games. Hope I don't sound biased. I'd just like to say the statement that 360 has better games is an opinion. I love most of the exclusives that the ps3 has had and there are not many 360 games that appeal to me. Just stating that that is an opinion. Also when you said multi-platform games look better on the 360, yes that is usually the case at the moment. However some games have looked better on the PS3 e.g. Oblivion and in game you can't really tell the difference. The reason most look better is because they are ported from the 360 to the PS3 so loose some of the quality. The way games are going now are that games are being developed simultaneously and (according to naughty dog) some devs who have gotten used to the PS3 are now porting the other way round. In my opinion that makes the field fairly even and you should just go for the console that appeals to you most.
nam
when i had enough money i had to choose ps3 or xbox 360 so i thought with all the new games that are comming up (superb ones) wouldent the ps3 be a bit more relyable? and theres been alot about a red ring of death wich i dont know too much about only it breaks the 360s but 360s have better games at the moment ps3s are getting there

P.S. i can understand how you would say that the playstation magazine sid only two mission's but think to yourself how would they know what the competitor is getting only rockstar and microsoft would know that , plus i know i would say something like that to get people to come get my systems copy with that said im still getting both if you could why wouldnt you get both
