mmmfloorpie
Ok, so in the past few days the 911 system has really been expanded upon... Not only can we call the police to make a distraction/steal a cop car, we can now also call the paramedics/fire dept... Now, my question to the board is: Can we call 911 for legitimate reasons as well?? Like say there is a fire.. Will the fire dept respond and actually put out a fire? Or if you see someone getting beat up, can you call the police, and will they care when they show up (or get in back in the car and drive off)? Also, does a ped have to see a crime/have a cellphone in order to call 911 on Niko? If there is no one around when you kill someone/commit a crime will the police not know because know one called 911?
Jayt001
Hmmm. Maybe when you call you get the option of which service you want then they come. If there's no emergency around i.e. no fire, no dead bloke and no crime being commited they just get back in their vehicle and go.

As of your Original post I think that you can call 911 whenever you want, but Im not sure how the system will work. I think peds calling the police would seem more realistic then automatic stars and the police are on you. Kroven
I imagine if there is something going on around (i.e. a fire or injured person) that the appropriate emergency service respondents will do their job. If nobody is around, I imagine you'll be fine on committing crimes as well, but the question really is how far can peds actually see? I mean if you're at the back of a secluded ally and a ped or cop passes by like a block or two down will he/she affect your wanted level?
Spawngasm
You'd have to start some sort of distraction for the cop to get out of his car. Maybe you could push some peds into each other and get them fighting then call the police, and when they show up they'll try to break up the fight. That'll give you time to take the police car. E-lasto
To tell you the truth. I never really thought about this. It makes me wonder what will happen if you kill someone, call the police, and hide? What will the do? I can't wait to call the cops on a gang fight, then just watch to see who prevails. Niko is in an alley and kills a ped then calls the cops saying he found a dead body. While the cops arrive he takes their car. To answer your question. I think cops or peds have to see your character commiting the crime to cause a wanted level.
E-lasto
Hmm, what if you were to: 1) Dial 911 2) Pick a fight with a ped. 3) Run in circles, block his hits, wait for cops Now, assuming they go for the ped, thinking he's an attacker, they surely wouldn't try and kill him would they? I want to see peds. handle the cops in different ways. 1) Cooperate nice and easy, 'cuffed, then tossed in the back of the cop car. 2) Run. Have the police take pursuit. 3) Fight back in two ways: -lethal. Pull out Gun, knife, and attack. Cops take lethal actions, kill ped. -Non lethal. Punch, kick, not cooperate. Cops use non lethal actions to apprehend the ped. (Taser, mase, nightstick)
SamFromVenturas
I think there's a lot of potential for this new feature. But I think a lot of you are missing the point of this ability to call emergency services. I think this feature will mainly be used as a diversion or as a tool to use against your enemies as opposed to using it for legitimate means (i.e. calling an ambulance when you see a car hit a pedestrian). For example: There may be a mission where you have to do surveillance on an opposition gang drug deal. And at the right moment you call the police to bust the deal. You could also call the police as a diversion, telling them there's a crime in progress in one part of the city while you rob a store in another part of the city. I'm such a 'good citizen' though and I think that that adds like a whole nother side to the game... I know it's called 'Grand Theft Auto', but if I'm Nikko and I'm walkin down the street and I see someone in trouble, I'd call the cops or whoever! Why not? I loved in VC how you'd get the 50$ for whompin on someone a cop was chasing... Maybe you'd get a reward for helping out too? Wouldn't it be funny if Nikko got a commendation from LCPD eventhough he's a badass? Also it would be cool if you could be a 'vigilante' without getting negative attention from the police... Go around making citizen's arrests!
mmmfloorpie
Will people in the cars call the cops on the people shooting at Niko (for example)??? In all other GTAs, if it was the AI doing the shooting, the cops wouldnt respond...
