nickwuzheer
I'm learning different languages before I play this Game(GTA IV duh). One of those languages is Russian. The hardest part so far, was saying Hello! I already speak English and pretty good Spanish(A must if you live in New York, other than Arabic, and Chinese) I'm Also learning German, Which ppl say is the easiest language to learn. But anyway, is anyone learning a new language to play 4? i speak russian becuase i was born there and lived there for a year but my parents kept the tradition and taght me russiuan so if the people in gta say somthing in russian, then i will know. for examle, the vid of vlad glebov he says a joke that has to do with potatoes and cabbage(yes, that is weird) in russian at the very beggining( i didnt quite hear it right) p.s. privet (pree-vette(roll tounge on the r)= hello dasvedanya(das-vee-dayn-yaa(silent y)(say "yaa" like a steretypic immitation of a jamacin man)=good-bye if you ever need translations/words in russian look for me.( or anyone else who knows russian) I was actually talking about: 3thrassveetyya = Hello...?or something like that. nahh i think that you were thinking of dasveedaynyaa cuz i dont recognize any similar sounding words
nlitement
I'm Russian so I'm all set. But its stupid learning a language for a game. Oh, and you will never learn Russian - by far one of the hardest languages in the world. Learning how to properly say verbs alone in a sentence will be hard. Good luck anyway LMAO. I agree. I'm into linguistics and I helped a buddy from Quebec with Russian and he asked me about plurals and I learned a bunch of new stuff I never noticed, like the fact that Russian divides the masculine gender into animate and inanimate in accusatives: "ja vizhu kabelj" (I see a cable), and a cable is not animate vs. "ja vizhu chelovekA" (I see a human) by adding -a to the end, and the fact that there are duals and plurals, not just plurals (dve mashyny, pjatj mashyn). mikesta
Try to learn Russian in 3 months, eh? Why would you want to do that. It's not like the entire game will be in Russian. Edited February 9, 2008 by Mikesta
fordies
Why would you learn Russian when chances are the majority if not all the game will be in English i think there may be a bit of Russian in there but i think it will be very little like maybe a couple of sentences at most. Mafioso86
dude... i'm a foreign language major and i'm all about learning other languages but i don't think learning it so you can play a video game is really the right reason... unless you're like some huge dork that wants to play Japanese import games. As was already said there will probably be less than 5 minutes total in the entire game of Russian dialogue, so unless you actually do want to speak Russian for other reasons, I wouldn't bother. That's also an incredibly difficult language for English speakers... you'd be best off sticking with German or Spanish.... if you know Spanish already Italian or Portuguese would be easy for you too.
