Mr. Hym.
I just bought this laptop 2 weeks ago and so far all my music has played fine, but since a few days ago none of my media will play, not even the stuff that came preloaded. Every time I play the file I get error code C00D36B4, and I've already tried all the troubleshooting methods on the Microsoft website. Does anybody know how to fix this? I'm using Vista Home Premium, if that makes a difference.
Ring_of_Fire
The only best advice is to do a System Restore. If not, then do a complete reinstallation of the entire OS and make sure not to ever mess it up again.

First of all, Whats your audio card? And second, Have you tried updating Drivers?
Ring_of_Fire
Fine, let's see. I don't think he has a driver problem or a audio card problem since it worked before, right? Hym, try creating a new Windows Vista administrative account and test to see if it works fine on the new one since you may have a corrupted NTUSER.DAT or a some fault in your APPDATA directory. If that doesn't work, then go into MSCONFIG and do a Diagnostic Startup like this... Processes: - Disable ALL Services: - Plug and Play - Windows Audio - Multimedia Class Scheduler Edited February 10, 2008 by Ring_of_Fire
Otter
From what I've read, it sounds like a device problem. You may have installed a codec that's clashing with your current drivers. Do videos play? With sound? Try a DivX file that uses mp3 audio. My strongest suspicion is that you need to update your drivers. And Ring, my best advice to you is to stop being such a techy bitch, and stop suggesting band-aid solutions to every problem.
Brutuz
Fine, let's see. I don't think he has a driver problem or a audio card problem since it worked before, right? So, the time my sound stopped working for no reason, then worked when I reinstalled Drivers didn't really happen did it? I was just sleeping was I? Mr. Hym.
Fixed it, did a system restore to last week and disabled the advanced functions of my speakers.
