nazieb
Hi, I've just installed the GTA LC for PC. But when I started to play, I don't know where to go, because there is no brief / guide. I just find the Safe Houses to save game in the map. And when I read the Readme, it told that the "available mission in the game" is only checkpoints mission. Is the game version of PC not completed yet? Or did I need any patch? Thanks

Have you done that very first thing, where you drive Vinnie to your safehouse, change clothes and all that? After that the first real mission is triggered at his place, down by the docks. Should be a "V" (blue, I think, but I can't quite recall) on your map.
nazieb
Thanks for the reply... After I started a new game, there is only safe house icon in the map, so I don't where to go. I've visited all of the safe houses, but nothing happened... I don't know where could I get the Vinnie missions, because there is no guide / brief in the game. FYI, even I can't get the taxi or ambulance missions.
k_jap
That sounds strange, allright. Two things: You say you've visited all the safehouses. There's only ONE safehouse available when you start the game (in Portland, the first island, where the game begins). Do you have access already to the other islands? All in all there are three safehouses, one on each island, but you only gain access to the second and third island later in the game - so I'm a little confused...Second, what do you mean exactly when you say you can't start the taxi and ambulance (side) missions? When I start, I don't know where to go, so I just drive around the city. And after I cross the bridge, the location of the safe house is changed to the another island. I don't know about the access of the safe house. And for the taxi, ambulance, fire truck and police: Usually when you drive those vehicles, and press Numpad + you'll get a mission right? Driving passenger for the taxi, distinguish fire for fire truck etc, right? But nothing happened after I press the key...
k_jap
I see. Well, for the taxi/ambulance stuff you can always check what button/key configuration is chosen (depending on what default setting you have). But the fact that you can drive across the bridge to the next island tells me something fishy is up, because you really shouldn't be able to do that. Is your copy of the game legit? I mean a regular store-bought disc? Or is it a copy? Did you download it? It could be you've got a modded version or something...All I can say is in the regular version of the game you certainly can't drive across that bridge at the beginning of the game. PS I just noticed you say "GTA LC for PC" - you're not by any chance playing GTAIII? Also known as "Liberty City"? As opposed to Liberty City Stories...? Just so we're on the same page - EDIT Forget that - I don't know where my head was: You have downloaded LCS for PC, right? So obviously it ain't legit (it's not availabe on PC, that's the whole issue, hehe - like I said, my head was on vacation there). The explanation for your problem could be this: There are versions out there in which there is no actual gameplay: Some guy just "re-skinned" GTAIII with LCS: He added vehicles and buildings and whatnot to make GTAIII look like LCS, but of course in this mod, or re-skin, there ARE NO MISSIONS. Basically you can drive around the city, but you can't do any missions, neither normal ones nor side-missions. Does that sound like your deal? As for a fully working LCS for PC mod, I don't know if one even exists, but I could be wrong... Sorry about confusing you there, but I'm getting pretty sleepy Edited February 8, 2008 by k_jap

k_jap
Hehe, talking on top of each other there: See above. You bought it on DVD? Well, the same thing applies, I guess. Someone burned that mod, or re-skin, to a disc. That would be my guess, anyway. Hope you didn't pay too much for it...
radioman
LCS(LibertyCity Stories), is only available for the PSP and PS2 platforms. However. GTA 3(Liberty City) is available on PC, PS2, and X-Box. The PC version is a CD, not a DVD. The only PC version that is a DVD is San Andreas. In GTA 3 which is for PC, you go to the Portland safe house, watch a few cutscenes, and then are directed to the first mission strand, which is at Luigi's Club. If you didn't notice, you start off on the Callahan Bridge in Portland, and 8-ball tells you you need to find a place to "lay low", that is why the safe house icon pops up on radar. The in game directions at the top of the screen tells you everything you need to know on the way to the safe house. Hope this helps. btw, since the topic starter says he has the PC version, I assume he's talking about GTA 3, but got it confused with LCS.
k_jap
Well, that's what I sort of suspected too, once I remembered there is no LCS for PC ...But he clearly says it's LCS and not III, which makes me suspect he's somehow ended up with a mod of some kind: There are plenty such mods available for DL, but - like I said - some of them are just GTAIII reskinned, which means there is no actual LCS-gameplay, just a working set of vehicles and a "new-looking" Liberty City. I never heard about people actually selling these things, and certainly not over the counter, but I'm sure it could happen. As for his stating it was a DVD he bought: Well, I'm no tech wiz, but wouldn't it be possible to burn such a modded game on to a DVD? That the original III only exists on CD is an entirely different matter, as this clearly is not the game he's talking about.
