Will peds fight back in different situations?

In past GTAs, hi-jacking a car was boring. You stand in front of a car, it stops, you run to the door, open it - the ped stares at you, you pull them out, get in, and drive off. Do you think in GTA IV perhaps they'll slam the gas when you go in front of the car, or if you elbow the window, they grab your elbow and punch you in the face and it's a little mini-game to knock them out or something. (SIXAXIS ANYONE?) Or perhaps when you take out a gun and aim it at someone, there'll be a brave citizen that comes at you, attempts to headlock you and take you down. (Rather than hold their fists up and punch every 5 minutes.)

 

Just things like that to show the peds have a place in the world, and you aren't some ultimate king that everyone is scared of.

Yeah I'm sure some will fight back as per previous GTA's, but most will just run off if you pull a gun.

 

I think the animation will be different for hi-jacking someones car, but not so much a mini-game.

I think the reason why it was so easy to get a car was for two simple things:

 

1) The pace of the game has to be fast. I dont think R* want you to be in the middle of NY running away from the police. It'd be boring.

 

2) Since, expecially in the past, the number of cars on screen was rather low, they couldnt have parked cars and moving vehicles. So, if there are no parked cars but only moving ones, you can only get the last ones, so it has to be easy.

 

I do hope that in 4 you can get a moving vehicle just if you have a gun and you point it at the driver (The Getaway was like that i think), otherwise you go for a parked one (of course, there must be some this time around).

Given that in this iteration, they're looking to go more realistic, who knows? I don't know too many heroes out there but if you come up empty-handed tryin to carjack someone, especially in NYC, you're askin to get your azz whupped.

 

I think it should depend on the situation; for instance, in hotpursuit mode when you're trying to elude police, maybe it won't be so bad- but if you're just messin around, it should be more difficult. Or maybe vice versa. I would like to see these drivers put up more of a fight; although I did like how CJ would punch, smash head or kick a driver out the car. Very cool. I also liked their comebacks...you gotta love the writers over there at R*!
