My father just filed for divorce from my step mom, but my step mom wants everything from him and she has evidence against him that will allow her to win. My mom just finished college, but cant find a job so were living her at my grandma's. My mom usually leaves every night and comes back at 4 AM smelling of Vodka and Miller. She has 3 boyfriends (so far) and I it pisses my grandm,a off to point were she is threating to throw us out. My dad is of course trying to handle his new job, while this divorce is going on and is still paying alimony to my mom. So in short Im about to be thrown on the streets on both sides on my family, and my GF just dumped me! So would you say it would be better if I killed my self so the money pressure and family pressure is taken off? Because that seems like Im the problem. Jesus my life sucks, dont you think? Maximum she can get would be 50% of your family's assets. Not that it sounds like you guys have much. I recommend that instead of killing yourself, you go and get yourself legally emancipated or re-assign legal guardianship to someone other then your parents (perhaps your grandmother). Then ask your grandmother to house you (and just you) while you find an after school job to earn money. Whatever you do, stay in school though. At least get a high school education. I seriously recommend this from a legal standpoint. It sounds like your family is falling apart and sometimes it is best to get yourself out of the problem and start on your own. He recently lost his job and had to move out because of the new location. Now he doesn't live with my family and my parents were planning a divorce anyway I think, so that should happen soon. All this is happening while I somehow have to come up with college tuition. Also, my sister is on pace to drop out of highschool and my brother has severe social problems brought on by my dad's treatment. Killing yourself is the worst idea possible. I recommend that everyone stops replying to this topic and let it die since he is only trying to get people's sympathy on something that probably is not even a real problem. He doesn't even seriously consider anyone's advice in here. He just keeps repeating the same thing about "killing" himself instead of rationally considering that maybe he could just give up some of the things that he does that costs so much. PS3, internet, etc. Please, you don't NEED that crap. I can tell you that my internet connection would be one of the first things to go if I got into financial problems as I don't really need it. Take a positive step and declare that if you want something you will raise your own funds to get it. Then, you'll still be able to afford the things you want (I emphasise 'want') plus your confidence will receive a boost from the sense of independence you will gain.
