Ottae
Infinity: The Quest for Earth I'm not sure if anyone's heard of this project, but it sounds incredible. Infinity: The Quest for Earth is a MMO game which is currently being developed by just 9 people in their spare time. It allows player to explore "a galaxy with up to hundreds of billions of worlds" which all have their own landscapes. The game uses procedural techniques to generate planets and landscapes so there are no planets already stored on the game, they are all generated as you get to them. I'm staggered that this technology exists, I simply can't wait for this game! It even has a storyline. It'll be like Freelancer 2. Visit the F.A.Q page to answer any questions you have about it. Here are a few videos to show you how incredible this will be:
AlianAnt
FINALLY! A space game with planets that look as big as planets should, and that you can land on. If I had a high-end machine, I'd be psyched. Alas, I don't. Metal up your ass!
pizza guy
looks interesting, being a big freeelancer fan, and still an occasional online player,I am very much interested in this.
beanmachine43
Looks great, may be a reason for me to get back in the MMO world. Something tells me that Mass Effect 2 could really use this type of technology though.
fox09
Did anyone ever play X3: Reunion? This game has that kind of feel to it. Unfortunately, you can land on the planets in X3.
ShadowGrrl
So many MMOs these days are coming out with these awesome new concepts, I'm particularly fond of sandbox type MMOs, but this looks great.
G MONEY $$$
Depth. That's what future games need. This one definitely seems to promise some great depth.
