GM Dude
Super Tuesday Outbreak Thankfully, for the first time since I've lived in Dallas, we've dodged the bullet. We were originally supposed to be hit, too, but we didn't get any tornadoes.

bagga rabbit
Always be prepared to "batten down the hatches". Is that the "proper" term? Guess it is. http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/56700.html
Tryst
In the midst of it all this kick ass fire came up. http://www.newschannel5.com/Global/story.asp?S=7828823 Unfortinatly when that came up they almost stoped talking about the weather, I didn't get another warning about where the next part of the storm was going to hit till just after it hit... Moonshield
why do americans have wood houses ? why don't they construct better ones ? Uh, wood frame construction is the most efficient type of construction for one-two story structures, chief. It's the most practical and logical type of construction. Would you prefer us to use more expensive steel or heavy masonry for every single building? And why the f*ck is this about "Americans"?

Carbine23
Thats scary man. You always have to watch out for those. I was always greatful that i lived in the Northeast to be away from Mother Earths worst creature. But there have been tornadoes near where i live. There was one in Brooklyn over the summer!!! One time i was playing xbox live, and my friend said we had a tornado warning. I was alone in the house, and i was only 14. I was scared, so i hid in the basement. Luckily there was no tornado in my town, but there was one about 30 - 40 minutes away from me. There was also a water spout believe it or not, near us a couple of years ago. I should have scattered GTA IV wanted posters all over the wreckage so that they could be seen in the video on the news broadcast across the world. Damn! TheRoper
I'll take an earthquake zone over tornado alley any day. We did have a water spout over Monterey Bay once though... I didn't see it. And as for global warming, I'm all for it. My house is at about 60 feet above sea level, and 2 blocks from the ocean, so I'll have beach-front property by then. Runey
I heard about those storms, they were supposed to affect my area, but all we got was wind and a little bit of rain. Though it does suck about the outbreak...but that's just nature.
kevin2006rhs
I had a little conversation with Lurch (lurchseesu420). It kinda went like this: Lurch: Move down to Tennessee... Me: Oh yeah, tornado alley, just where I want to live. Lurch: We don't have tornadoes here. Kevin thought he smelled bullsh*t 50+ dead people and two days later...I ain't moving anywhere near f*ckin Tennessee. Kentucky was screwed up enough without the tornadoes and Tennessee has got to be just as bad. I will stick with Pennsylvania thank you very much. Thats so not true. Every country in the world except USA use concrete and bricks to build houses. Americans however, being capitalists and all cant afford it. So instead of building a normal solid houses like the rest of the civilized world you get pwnd every now and then by natural disasters like tornadoes and eartquakes that other countries dont even feel because you build cardboard houses. Its your capitalist society thats doing this to you

Its your capitalist society thats doing this to you I see what you're saying, although it isn't always true. Down in Florida it's mandatory to build using CMU blocks or something stronger. If you ever go to one of those gated communities and see them expanding, you'll see how they're ALL cmu-built houses. I think in San Fransisco they changed their code to require steel construction in all buildings. The lumber industry was outraged by this, obviously, but I'd rather be in a steel building than a wood building when an earthquake hits, wouldn't you? I can't remember how this was resolved, but if I find out, I'll edit my post.

Earthquake protection, seeing as steel has a tensile strength vastly greater than wood.

Ronmar The Only
I live in Tennessee and was thankful that my parents were fine and that my hometown was not affected but like someone said East Tennessee doesn't get it too bad. Though we still do have tornadoes from time to time. Whenever I was 3 days old or something, a tornado almost destroyed the house we lived in.
