Yet another cool preview article

this was kinda cool... they tell you how the controls work... sounds good. icon14.gif

"The third-person shooting mechanics have undergone a major overhaul in GTA IV, which should address nearly every complaint about the combat leveled at previous entries into the series. A full press of the left trigger results in an auto-target of your nearest enemy, which is handy, but not as accurate as manually aiming, which can be done by using the analog sticks. Shoot someone in the head and they'll go down a lot faster than if you fill a chest with lead. While giving the right trigger a full press fires your weapon, a half-press lets you free aim on the move using the right stick, and pressing in the right stick zooms the gun sight in closer while aiming. Pressing R3 when you're not in shooting mode simply reverses the camera (so you can see what's behind you)"

That was pretty interesting (although less detail).

Whilst reading it I had a thought - the mission where you chase Rivas and fire shots out of the car, there is no mention of Police.

This brings up two questions for me.

- Is there little or no police presence during missions? (You'd think if they spotted Niko on top of a truck they'd have to investigate too)!

- In old GTA's when you complete a mission, your stars went away. Will this be the same? I highly doubt.

Basically so far we have not heard of interference by the fuzz during a mission (which in the old games was terribly annoying, but necessary). I think it's fairly obvious that the police will chase you if they see you during a mission, just thinking we've not been enlightened on this matter yet.

thats what you took from reading that prereview?

how would your heal function work?

No, thats one of the stuffs I read but you guys only see the good news.

btw, have you even heard about pharmacies ?

Yeah, Pharmacies could work. But kinda irritating to go to a pharmacy every time you get hurt

What bad news do you see in the article btw?

I reckon you have to ditch the 5-0 after the mission is completed. Maby even in the mission. Makes more realistic sense.

so pharmacies heal bullet wounds?!??!

i'm not going to start arguing semantics about the level of realism in this game, eating to heal was confirmed ages ago, so i don't really think theres much point dwelling on it

Sorry, I just though that disinfectant and bandages would be a bit more realistic than eating. Even a bottle of scotch would be better than a few hot dogs... confused.gif

It made be thaqt this feature exists but its turned off when they are demoing the game, as they dont want to run the risk on ruining the demo with something unexpected happening.

well thats the obvious problem, realism, i'm not saying eatings the best idea but it would be silly to have hundreds of food outlets and no point to eating, pharmacies may well be in the game in an other capacity

would you prefer that niko didnt eat at all?

i'm just curious of your opinion

At the end of the day, let's forget it. I've just read the german preview and it seems that this realism crap is really put in the wrong way. They say that we have to press a button to start the engine BUT we respawn at the hospitals as always. Congratulations Rockstar, very smart...

To be honest i think you're taking the realism element way too literal. If you die, do you want to have to start the game again?

Didn't think so.
