I got the 14 day thing awhile back but it was way to technical and confusing to make me want to pay for it, that and i had had no clue what to do.

If you followed the main tutorial from beginning to end (it is long, and I understand that), it helps A LOT. The people in your beginning 'corp' chat and the help channel would have been glad to help with any other questions.

As for me, I played for four months starting in January of last year, took a two or three month break, and started playing again in December. It really is the deepest game I've ever played, and if you can get past the months (thats plural)-long learning curve, it truly is the best MMO in existence. WoW ain't got sh*t on EvE, except it's accessibility.

Anyways, my character's name is AlianAnt, go ahead and add me to your buddy list and message me. Might want to tell me you're Morph from GTAF, or I might overlook your Eve-Mail. I never decline chat invites, though, so if it pops up saying I declined your chat invite a long time after sending it, I'm afk. Send me one a few minutes later and I should accept it.

I'm a helpful guy, so I'll be glad to answer any question I can about the game for you, but I don't really have all the answers. Even though I've been playing for quite some time, there are still (huge) gaps in my knowledge due to the hugeness of the game.

I've played it before, looked cool. My friend, he used to be in the 'Band of Brothers' corporation, basically a big corportation that have some of the strongest ships, they take over half the planet lol.

Band of Brothers in EvE is actually not a single corporation, but really an alliance of corporations. BoB (as they have come to be called) is without a doubt the most powerful alliance in EvE, holding a huge chunk of all player-conquered systems.

In fact, there is a huge (HUGE) war going on right now between an... alliance of alliances come to have been called 'The Coalition' to try to slow, stop, and hopefully reverse BoB on their current rampaging of player-conquerable space. Quite often a news item pops up telling about a gigantic battle fought in a particular system.

Personally, I hope both BoB and The Coalition blow each other to smithereens. I hate BoB because their board of executives have grown arrogant, and one has pretty much come out and said all player-conquerable space is rightfully theirs, even though thats bullsh*t. I don't like The Coalition, namely its biggest contributor Interstellar Alcohol Conglomerate (IAC), because IAC think they're hot sh*t because this is the first time BoB has ever been given a run for their money (literally) and let everyone at every turn.

But thats just my two cents.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why EvE rocks. When you can get into an actual full-sace player WAR, you know you're not playing WoW.

Might buy a subscription for it the. But what i want to know about it is how do you find people in it? it seemed like there was like only 6 people playing when I played it.

Thats because everyone is spread out between 5000 Systems. Its boring if you play by your lonesome but now that my roomates are playing its quite fun helping eachother out on some of the more difficult missions.

There is another corporation that would beat BoB, I forget the name of it though. It's huge, bigger than BoB.

Downloaded the free trial. It's a pretty good game, I'm quite enjoying it. I'm still dicking around with tutorial stuff, but I'm getting the hang of things. The interface is a little overwhelming at times, but it isn't hard to use.

Also his game is pretty relaxing too, it seems. You fly around a beautifully coloured space, listening to soft music, while blowing sh*t up. icon14.gif

My only gripe is that all the races look like ass. Right now I've got a wonderfully homosexual-looking Gallente, and a Chinese Caldari dude. Though, not that it matters since you never see them anyway, but still. tounge.gif

Wow, didn't know this thread was gonna cause so many people to try the game out. Thats good news for the game biggrin.gif

If anyone needs help, eve-mail me: my character's name is AlianAnt (surprise surprise). I currently also have quite a bit of cash I don't need right now, so if you need a few bucks to finish fitting that new ship, drop me a line. Just don't make a habit of it smile.gif

edit:

To find specific people you already know, go to people and places on the left there, pick character from the dropdown menu, type in who you want and press enter.

If you're wondering where everyone is, just go to the system Jita...

BoB is no longer the most powerful alliance... Or well, they may be at this exact moment, but alliances like GoonFleet will for sure win the war.

One can only hope. BoB needs a severe beating, hopefully a finishing one.

Woo! Finished Exhumers level 3 today! That means I can hop in the best mining ship in the game: the Hulk! Problem is, I'm 20mil short of my corp's price to produce me one at cost. However, I should be able to scrounge up 20mil in a day or two if the price of tritanium stays around it's current level.

Anyone else have any interesting things to tell about? Questions?

Perhaps we should all get together and do a big mission or mining operation. It would make us that much richer wink.gif

I have some questions. What's the best ship in the game?

How much does it cost?

That really depends. It depends on exactly what you like to do, and how you like to do it. If you're talking the straight up biggest and most powerful ship in the game, that'd be the Titan class of ships. Titans are gif*ckingnormous. As can be witnessed with this scale drawing here, the titans easily dwarf even the other capital ships (for reference, the Eiffel Tower can be seen on the bottom left).

Titans take more than a real life year of straight training to fly, and are a massive undertaking to construct. Their cost in ISK cannot truly be measured as it not only takes gargantuan amounts of raw materials, it also takes an extreme amount of time to move those materials to where the Titan is being constructed. Because of the incredible amount of time for training to fly one, the massive need for extremely rare materials, the time needed to move said materials, and finally for the Titan to actually build, their value in ISK cannot be ascertained.

However, almost every pilot with experience will tell you a different answer to the best ship in the game, with the possible exception of miners, because they do have a clear champion: the Hulk. Hulks cost around 100mil ISK on the market. A year ago, Hulks were extremely rare, and couldn't be found on the market. You could only find them by searching the contracts available, and they sold for at LEAST 500 million ISK.

But over the last year, the relative difficulty to build one has gone down, and so they are available freely on the market at the aforementioned 100 million ISK price tag. Actual production costs are around 68.5 million ISK.

What does refining the mining actually do?

Well, theres ore, and then theres minerals. Minerals are what you get when you refine ores. You mine ores from asteroids, and you can choose to sell the raw ore, or refine the stuff into minerals. Theres two reasons to do this:

1.) The money you get from selling the minerals is worth more than the raw ore (because the minerals have different prices)

2.) You want to manufacture something. All the game's items, excluding Tech 2 items which use special Tech 2 ingredients, are made from the different minerals in the game.

Each ore gives different minerals, in different amounts. For instance, Veldspar only gives Tritanium, but gives more Tritanium than any other ore. But Scordite provides the most Pyerite of any ore, but also gives a little bit of Tritanium.

How do you make sh*tloads of cash quick?

Well, just about anything makes the same amount of cash, excluding the player-made professions (like being a mercenary, pirate, or being in a PvP corp) after its all said and done, with the possible exclusion of trading. I've heard that trading player items can make you sh*tloads of cash very quickly, and your money increases exponentially. However, I know next to nothing about trading, so I can't really give you a how-to guide. However, if you search around a bit, there are some great guides on trading, but it involves a lot of reading. And frankly, I'd rather blow sh*t up than go 30 jumps to make a few bucks.

If you're short on ISK, drop me a line and I can give you some money. Not too much, but I have been known to drop a mil on new players if they need it. But don't make a habit of it. Also, if you're in a starting NPC corp that the game places you in when you start, going into corp chat and passively mentioning you're short on money can make your wallet suddenly swell up a few million... thats what happened to me.

What type of ship (frigate, cruiser) is best for mining/combat?

Depends on your race. I doubt you're Caldari, and thats the only line of ships I know by heart, because I'm Caldari. If you are, the best frigate combat ship, imo, is the Merlin. Best frigate miner is the Bantam. Best combat cruiser is the Caracal (I think thats it's spelling, and this is again an imo), and the best mining cruiser is definitely the Osprey, and thats not imo. This is assuming, of course, that you're Caldari and like missiles, excluding the Osprey, of which you just need Caldari skills.

ParkyGTAF is my ingame name, only got the trial, and am completely clueless as to what to do

I did a search for your character but it turned up nothing. Is he still around, or did you spell it wrong, err?
